History
Established in 1945.
The Littlest Bar was established in 1945 and was recently reopened in a new location in 2008. The old location which was on Province Street sat behind the Omni Parker House. Prior to being a bar this location had several facades. For a time it was a barber’s shop, then a betting office.
The famous gaslit steps just outside the bar once led to the horse stables of the Colonial Governor’s residence and today are considered a city landmark. Many famous persons of this city as well as many ordinary folk have drunk side by side in this unique establishment. In fact the author of a well known legal/suspence novel thought so highly of this ‘little’ bar that it was featured within the first two chapters. The book went on to be made a feature movie starring John Travolta and started the current «Boston» made movie trend. This bar’s legacy is not yet fulfilled, and thanks to a new «move» the story continues onward.
