Established in 1965.
Located in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay, the landmark Prudential Center is a 3.2 million SF mixed-use urban center comprised of 2.6 million SF of office space and 620,000 SF of retail space. It is also home to the Skywalk Observatory, on the 50th floor, where you can see the only 360 degree view of Boston. The 52-story Prudential Tower was built in 1965 and is Boston’s second tallest office building. The Shops at Prudential Center, the retail component of the complex, is anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor and consists of 75 stores and restaurants. Major retailers include Ann Taylor, Barnes & Noble (Boston’s largest bookstore), The Cheesecake Factory, Club Monaco, Lacoste, Sephora and vineyard vines. With over 60,000 visitors a day, The Shops at Prudential Center has been ranked among the top 5 shopping centers in the nation by Women’s Wear Daily. The commercial portion of Prudential Center is owned and managed by Boston Properties, a self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust. Founded in 1970, Boston Properties became a public company in 1997. The company moved its corporate headquarters to Prudential Center after acquiring the complex in 1998. Boston Properties portfolio is primarily first-class office space, but also includes retail, hotel and industrial buildings.
