The selection of wine was better than I’ve seen at any other store (I haven’t been to the one on Tremont yet) and with reasonable prices.
I just moved here from Sonoma, California where lots of wines are from, and the markup on the bottles wasn’t as outrageous as I expected or have seen at other stores.
I bought a 750 mL bottle of Tito’s for $ 19.99. I thought that was fair. BevMo’s website says the exact same price. Not bad!
I’ll definitely return here for my liquor needs.

Service was not really there but I was shopping to bring back some local brews to the hubby. They didn’t have what he was looking for exactly but I was able to pick up a few bottles to bring home. Beer was kind of spread out around the wine.

Not impressed! Customer service was non existent. I brought a list of wine printed off the Internet. I wanted to see if they had any wine on the list under $ 30. The wine connoisseur looked at it. Before he finished reading the list, he said, «Seriously, Man!» He said it in such a tone that suggested I was wasting his time. It took the expert less than a minute to go through the page. He didn’t even bother recommending other wines.
Not happy and will not go back again! For those who value service, do not go there.

Love this place. It’s small, yet a great selection (especially of wine, not so much liquor). Prices aren’t cheap, but come on, this is in the middle of South End.
I feel I should be somewhat embarrassed by the amount of check-​ins I have at this place, but in my defense I live right upstairs (still probably come here too much).

I love this place. It’s small, but dense and the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. But best of all I get to stay current on most of the releases from Stone Brewery!
Now in terms of price its no Shaw’s, but the variety and options of buying smaller or larger amounts, and in addition they don’t harass out-​of-​staters for not being 25.
This place is to the me what Blanchard’s in Allbrightline is to the Biff. Just indispensable.
Lastly, they give my baby P-dog’s dog, Pierre puppy treats.

Great wine shop in the South End and my new go-​to for craft brews. The place is clean and well-​organized and the selection is exceptional. Picked up some Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection as well as the Infinium 2011 to ring in the new year =D The staff is also very helpful and knowledgeable — always appreciated when one of them comes by to see if you need help with anything.

Well, I’ve been here four times and while the selection is «meh» (and it really is — almost every wine shop within a ½ mile has a better selection), the staff is unnecessarily unfriendly. Seen a few different guys working behind the counter and even getting a friendly acknowledgement that you’re in the store or a thank you or god forbid eye contact at checkout is impossible. It’s like they’re depressed to be working and that the customer’s presence in the shop is frustrating them. Greeting customers and saying thank you at checkout would seem like basic common courtesy expected from a wine store clerk but these guys are certainly the exception.

If you live in Back Bay or South End, this, or the one on Tremont, is the place to buy wine. Selection here is modest in size, but the wines they carry are all quality products for the price range you find them in. The half-​case and case deals are good, and the staff are very helpful if you need some assistance sifting through the shelves.
My only criticism of this location is that the excessively high shelves make accessing the pricer bottles a bit difficult. Otherwise, I fully endorse this business.

Has the best wine inventory in the area, excepting the two-​level Wine Emporium on Tremont Street.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff recognizes repeat clients. Very strong beer selection.
For five stars, move the scotch/​whisky selection to an area that doesn’t require a telescope and post an inventory page for the locked reserve wines in the back.

Love this place. Great selection of wines, very knowledgeable staff. Even managed to get them to deliver a wine gift basket to a hospital. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
My interactions there were with Eric. Great guy and extremely helpful. He makes it worth the trip.

Tentative 5-​star rating here after a visit where I was really surprised by their beer selection and staff knowledge. Some upcoming 3-​pack and case discounts for bombers warrants a return for me. Will update after another visit or two.

This place warrants my 5 stars.
I am an event planner and have clients who live on this block. They needed a large order for their holiday party and Mike at the Wine Emporium worked very closely with me to identify products to match my clients’ exquisite tastes. Mike was very communicative, very responsive and knowledgeable about wines. We ordered a few wines for trials based on his suggestions and he even sold me those for 10% off, based on the forthcoming large order.
Mike’s recommendations were spot-​on and he personally delivered all the goods himself (and then picked up the unopened bottles for return two days later).
I would not hesitate to contact Mike for other event-​related wine deliveries, and I know my clients enjoy shopping there because of the great staff picks.

Usually where I go to get my wine. I realize I rated it lower than Best Cellars and the 1-​star deduction is mainly due to Best Cellars having a better atmosphere, being specific to wine, and having tastings. And, I always feel full liquor stores are a bit too warm to store wine in. That’s just me being snobby, tho.
In any case, that does not mean I don’t like this place. There is (almost always) a dude that knows his stuff when it comes to vino. I sent the wine-​clueless bf here one night to pick up a chardonnay that isn’t oakey, and he came back with a suggestion from a staff member that I LOVED! And, I have (attempted to, since I always end up drinking it) stocked my wine from here as they give ½ case discounts too. Yay!
Oh, I’d pass on the Red Sox wine and donate the $ to charity instead. Not worth the cheap red wine headache the next day just to say you’ve helped some kids.

Where everybody knows your name… and they’re always glad you came…
So, I don’t think that it hurts that I live literally 15 steps from this establishment, buuuut, even if I didn’t, I do believe they would still be as friendly and fun as they are!
I clearly chose my current living location based on it’s proximaty to a wine and spirits establishment, but little did I know how great they would be.
Every time I go in, they are always friendly to me… the selection is great… the sales/​specials are wonderful… they have tastings… and smiles… they have smiles!
I have gotten to the point where I am waiting for them to refer to me by name, but they at least know that I live upstairs and don’t need a bag (or well, most of the employees know).
Just a great ‘corner store’ with a much better inventory than typical corner stores! Definitely check it out.

It was a Friday evening and I had just left the gym because I’m wicked healthy (cut to me smoking a cigarette and anticipating a long night of boozing and schmoozing).
Sweatily (wow this is a real word) walking down Columbus Ave I decided to skip out on the overpriced/​cash-​only Food Basket underneath my apartment and venture into the emporium of wines. And guess what — they have beer and liquor too — fine. by. me.
I pick out a six-​pack from their wide variety of beers — lots of local brews to pick from if you like to stimulate the economy of some little village in Maine. If wine is your beverage, there are stacks and stacks of bottles towering over your pretty little head.
I approach the counter with my beer of choice and whip out the good ol’ VISA credit card — the man behind the counter gladly accepts my plastic and I was all Jessica Simpson in my head singing, «Boy I think that I’m in love with you!!»

Primarily for wine, although they have everything else (but the everything else is pricey, I think). Good-​to-​best wine selection (not as good as that cask place in Somerville but better than everywhere else). I find the owner and a few employees extremely helpful and knowledgeable but a couple of the guys just listen to the radio and ring me up.
Beer selection is not huge. The main advantage of this place is the upscale wine store aspect (as opposed to the liquor stores in Central where even the employees are alcoholics).

This place is huge compared to other liquor stores in Boston, and they have a great selection. You can find pretty much any popular beer, and they have a huge wine selection. They are also extremely helpful. If it’s not on display, just ask.
