I’ve only been here on latin nights, so the review may be a bit biased because its not really fully my scene. So why go to latin nights you ask? Long story. But I guess I have to review based off of my experiences and this is what I have experienced First and foremost, I don’t think a really really loud speaker makes a good sound system. I prefer to hear the music clearly, but I rather not have my eardrums popped by the music. There is difference between loud speakers and good speakers. Second, the crowd can be a little ehh. I mean there are creeps wherever you go, but this place can accumulate a fair amount. You can at least dance while you try to creep, don’t just stand there and creep. And lastly the space is little odd. Definitely not the worst. But that smaller room seems to be a waste of space. I mean overall though I’ve had fun. Not the most definitive review, but that’s what its going to be.

I personally love the venue. It’s spacious and has alot of comfortable seating. The bartenders are always very friendly and beautiful/handsome. I love how the main room has house music but the side room has hiphop/etc. The DJ was amazing the most recent time I was there. I believe it was dj aleka. Very engaged with the crowd and energetic. I will be back again.

I was very disappointed in this club I bought VIP tickets for NYE and when we arrived we found a table but as the night went on there was no bouncer/security to keep people who did not pay $ 85.00 a ticket out of VIP seating. Second they did not give a champagne toast or offer any kind of complimentary anything. It was $ 14.00 for a one alcohol drink that’s ridiculous when you paid $ 85.00 to start. It was a rip off never again will I go there.

Whoever decided to cover the walls in stabby-sharp seashells must have gone to the Auschwitz Institute of Interior Design. Besides that, it’s a good club space. The front room is tiny but nice for retiring when the main room fills with sweaty people. It has plenty of seating and cool lighting, even though the walls are covered in STABBYSTABBYSHARPSHELLS. This area also has a cubby for shoes and coats, so if you don’t want to pay to check your coat, stash it in the square, carpeted seating area here before you hit the ramp to the main floor. ;) The main floor is small at first sight but has room for a couple hundred people. The catwalk is superb and offers several elevated areas to dance. There’s also an extra seating area by the DJ that’s great for smaller groups or watching people on the floor. Overall, the music scene is waaaay too selective on the night and the group renting the joint. Excess is good for goth and fetish and Allure offers great floor shows and burlesque. Weeknights are key here, but then again, most people only do weekends which explains all the negative reviews. Try Wednesdays for better success! ;) I like this place more than Rise, but then again, I work in the morning… PS — Avoid buying any drinks here unless you get bottle service. Drinks are overpriced and under-mixed.

Saw Louie Devito here in March because My GF is obsessed with him. Booked a table through Franklin who I guess is a resident DJ there. Franklin was professional, courteous and helpful through the whole process. If you are looking to get a table here I recommend you contact him at( ). He even sent a thank you follow up email the following day. Very classy and being a business professional I appreciate the way he conducts business. Got to the club, had a hard time finding it, it was actually down the street a little bit then what it showed on Google maps, but asked a bouncer at Royale and he pointed us in the right directed. Got there about 11pm, doors open at 10:30pm. We had to wait in line for about 5 minutes until we were able to «Check-In» at the«ticket office.» I’ve gotten tables all over Boston, CT&NY and this was the only time I had to wait behind regular patrons to get to my table. Part of the reason for VIP is not to wait. Got seated at the VIP table in the corner in the back, which from looking around was probably the best table. It was pushed back a little further than the others which made it a little more private. Our hostess Eva/Eda? was amazing. Very attentive throughout the whole night, never had to wait for a drink, and she was super friendly. Bottles were reasonably priced for Boston. $ 300 for vodka, Bottles of champagne start at $ 150, etc. There is no security at the VIP section so anyone can walk up and a lot of groupie girls did to try and talk to Louie at the DJ Booth. Summary: Pros: Clean Great Staff Loud Music Decent VIP section Cons: Had to wait in line behind regular patrons before getting to our table VIP section had no bouncers, anyone could walk in and it got crowded as the night went on. Over all, if there was a DJ there that I really wanted to see I would return, otherwise I would probably go to Gypsy or somewhere else in Boston. They have alot of potential to be a great club and offer a solid VIP experience, but they have to make some changes to achieve that.

I have never been here other than on a Thursday & I love it! I love to dance, drink & have a good ol’ time. This place club is definitely the place to be on «Thirsty Thursday.» It is mixed playing all types of music from hip hop to r & b, zouk and african music. It is decently worth a try on a Thursday night !

What’s cool is that there are two different dance sections, each with its own music. The décor is pretty fancy, but there isn’t a main dance floor. Most of the dancing area is narrow, or it feels like a walking path, so it’s a little hard if you’re trying to keep a big group together. The music is House with some remixed pop songs thrown in.

My favorite club nights take place here. Temple and Excess — Performance-based nights with a few of the most unique DJs in Boston. Everything from jungle to electroswing. Performances on one of two uniquely placed stages. The sound system is incredible here, and generally has a really great vibe(at least on these nights.) I can’t speak for other nights, but my only negative comment really is that the drinks are fairly overpriced. Expect to pay at least $ 11 for anything with hard liquor.

I really liked the music they played here. The drinks were good but the crowd was weird. The majority of people were sloppy drunk. The floor was so sticky from all the sloppy people spilling they’re drinks. I won’t be going back

It was a so-so– experience. Almost felt like I was in a trendy, kinda hidden-away place. But it was filled with all the usual stereotypes and nonsense. Very well designed and varied space(a bit awkward for dancing and standing around – never could make up my mind.) Bartenders were friendly. Music was a nice, varied, creative mix. As bars of this type go, it was among the better I’ve been to in a major city.

I’ve been there couple times and love this place. First if you are very picky about music then this is the right place for you to go because they have different events with all kind of music. —First what I would love to mention that stuff are very helpful and friendly —Very unique design. I love couches. —Good sound system. Very loud music so if you are not going to clubs and didn’t get use to loud music i would recommend to get ear plugs or something that would protect your ears. The first time i got out from club i felt that i could hear anything. Was really strong noise in my ears. But that just my experience! —Lot’s of people, big crown. I love it. Result: good music, great stuff what can be better! :)

This place was… well, underwhelming. Rows of bored yet tense looking men lined the bar, facing the dance floor without so much as a head-bop, staring women down to, presumably, gauge their availability. On a positive note, the cover charge girl was much less surly than your average cover charge girl.

Underbar is located underneath Caprice in the Theater District downtown. The places generally charges a cover of around $ 20. Drinks are around $ 10 and I would not call them big. They do play good good music and the crowd is generally attractive. Trendy as far as Boston goes. The crowd is older than places in Faneuil Hall but it is more euro.

I’m going to have to agree with Kim P.: the only way to come here is after some heavy, heavy pregaming. The music is great. The staff is questionable. The patrons… well…maybe I should stop here.

I’ve been to this place multiple times for different events/nights and I have to say that they do a good job at facilitating them and making sure they run as smoothly as possible. The bartenders are very friendly and have no problem making what ever you ask for, and giving you a good amount of alcohol for what you pay for. The club staff is generally friendly though sometimes the security seems a bit hard to approach. Overall the place is a decent place to go for a drink and to hang out with friends. and the special nights that I personally go to(Excess, Temple.) are always a good time filled with good people.

On our last night in Boston, the gay boyfriend dragged me here. Normally, I drag him around but I’d been drinking for something like 2 weeks straight and I think I needed a rest. Ain’t going to happen. Since my liver had long ago committed suicide, I didn’t have much of a protest in me. We arrived early to avoid paying cover, about 10 p.m. There were zero people in the bar. Well, no there were probably less than 10 people including all the bartenders. Sunday nights is the one night of the week it’s gay. Hey now, I found the most expensive bar in Boston! I got two drinks and it was $ 18. Um. Okay, so, no, that’s not really expensive since I pay that frequently if not more but for a couple of drinks that were essentially booze and soda, that’s too much. Later, I made friends with people and the bartenders so that was pretty much all I spent all night. I guess it worked out in the end. I asked the bartender to make me his specialty. I lost track of how many types of booze went in it but it tasted like fruit punch and after sipping it, I could tell a headache was coming on. I had the worst hangover the next day. Whatever you do, don’t order the«South Beach!» This bar has an underwater theme with seashells on the columns. I spent a lot of time admiring these walls until some twink got up to dance on the middle lounge. Later I wound up there too. I guess it’s just the place to be. The DJ was great, playing all the latest pop songs, perfect for that dance groove. The club is part of another club so sometimes you get some crossover. You can meet in the middle bar where the drag queen bartender serves you or on the other side where apparently a reggae night was going on. Usually, I stuck to the gay bar side with the cutie bartender, Romeo(yeah, really, his name is Romeo and he goes to Harvard). So yeah, super expensive, fun crowd and about a $ 7 cab ride from Downtown Crossing(with tip, of course).

As a disclaimer: I hate most clubs and went to Underbar for a business school event on a Wednesday night. I’m obviously coming from a biased perspective. The bouncers at the front were helpful, which is a welcome change from most of my club-going experiences. I was clearly looking confused(not seeing Underbar’s teeny little sign), and the gentlemen at the front door asked me if I was looking for Underbar. Things went downhill from there, generally. Underbar’s décor is fairly boring. Drinks are ridiculously expensive and poorly mixed. The house DJ was decent, though I can’t say I was excited by anything on his playlist. On the plus side, the elevated platforms in the middle and along the sides of the main dance floor are fun, and especially when they’re lined with your inebriated classmates.

I recently went to this place for The Crystal Method show. And I realized that I keep forgetting how often I’ve been to this place. As I was looking around and I started recollecting memories such as «Oh yeah, me and my buddies reserved a table over that corner», «Oh yeah, I got up on this runway and started shadowboxing instead of dancing», «This is the spot I got shot down by a French chick I was hitting on», or «This is the bar I got ripped off by a bartender», etc. Décor is nice, cool and savvy. I also like that booth/runway hybrid thing in the middle. And it’s spacious. If I want to be in somewhere loud, I need to be somewhere spacious.(Hence I hate The Enormous Room. Small, cluttered and loud). Bartenders are overall polite and friendly. Unlike most others in town, they have smile on their face and still treat geeky guys like me with respect. Drinks are typical club price. $ 5~6 for beer. DJ are pretty cool. They don’t play mediocre top 40 stuff but some unknown dance tunes with infectious groove and with smooth&unique transition between songs. Also they put up pretty good show by having really hot dancers. I might have been quite intoxicated for all visits, but I do not remember I came out of this place angry or sad. All I remember I had a big smile or my face or laughing out loud. Plus, I didn’t get in any fights or bouncers never kicked me out. This shows that I behaved(not that I misbehave often) or there weren’t any landmines that would trigger it. Hence, I am a fan. P. S. Bring a pair of ear plug. You might get ringing ears if you don’t. I always bring one and never got ringing ears.
