Got their Roasted Pork Sub and it was amazing. Delicious, juicy pork, sliced and loaded on a fresh crispy french roll, no condiments.

Beyond underwhelming. Eggplant parm sub: unappetizing looking pieces of fried eggplant looking lonely on bread. Almost no sauce. Almost no cheese. Meh.

I most definitely agree with some of the reviews below. «The bread makes the sandwich» is right on! I got the steak pizzaoila and for the most part the steak had little to no flavor but the sauce and the bread have it a decent boost. I personally had a bit of wait but that could be because I ordered two things instead of one… The spinach ravioli was good; although in the future I wouldn’t add the Alfredo sauce to anything. It didn’t have much flavor; tasted like water.

The bread makes the sandwiches. I pretty consistently get the buffalo chicken sub. It’s grilled chicken(not a cutlet), and they use blue cheese crumbles(not dressing), so be prepared for that. It is an excellent combo though. The sausage/rabi sandwich Is also good.

Worst food I’ve had in a long time. Pesto chicken sandwiches were horrible. Boiled chicken on bread with some weird looking«pesto» on it. And the steak and cheese also had no flavor. Pasta fagole tastes like beans out of a can w pasta in watered down tomato soup. Never coming back. How did u guys get 4 stars?

Lovely place! Not a perfect location, attached to a dunkin and Chinese restaurant, but the food was impeccable(my party got cheese raviolis, eggplant parmesan, and penne pasta with extra spice) The chef made everything from scratch and even though there was only one chef, the food came at a good speed. Very polite and good service.

Quite possibly the worst sandwich I’ve ever had. The chicken was quite clearly boiled in a factory far far away and thawed for my consumption. That isnt what pesto is supposed to look or taste like. Wouldnt return if you paid me.

The food is so so, but the owner is so rude. He never speaks to customers, never says thanks, never acknowledges anyone(unless your a pretty young coed and then he’s your best friend). This place has big subs, but the quality is rather low.

OK, so I’ve been coming here for about a year now and never really had a problem with the food until about 3 month ago. I had a sandwich and it went right through me within 30 minutes, if you know what I mean. I told myself this was one of the worst experiences I had and might not be back for awhile. Today I experienced the same and I’m actually on the toliet writing this. I think it’s safe to say I will never be back! As for the employees, a friendly hello or smile might help.

I had shrimp scampi and added chicken to it. It was absolutely delicious. I loved it. They just need a better seating arrangement because your sitting on top of other people basically but they work with what space they have I guess. I’ll give them a higher rating when I’ve tried more food.

I honestly don’t get all the hype about Uptown Café. My buffalo wrap was average at best and my husband had the Italian Sub that he felt was just OK. The décor leaves a lot to be desired. No thanks!

we went there based on Unilocal reviews and it was a nice little store. it doesn’t have much seating(about 10 chairs with 3 tables) and it shares its space with the asian restaurant next door and Dunkin so it can get crowded during busy times i’m sure. the old gentleman working there was very friendly and nice. we ordered the half uptown chicken sub($ 4.65) and spinach tortellini($ 7.45). water was $ 1.70. both tasted fresh and homemade. it felt clean without all the additives. portions were a good size and the price was good too. make sure to tell him to add your choice of free toppings or he’ll just assume you don’t want any. the only bad thing was that he didn’t turn on the AC. i guess cause we were the only dine in customers but had i not been wearing athlete clothes i probably wouldn’t have stayed. other than that it’s good, cheap, and friendly.

Fast subs. More complex ingredients than you find in other places. Much better value than Subway. These people won’t screw up your order. They seem extremely hard working. No attitudes in the hot weather. I like that. To reiterate: really really fast. Also: homemade bread.

Really good French bread The place isn’t super nice, it’s kind of bare bones, but it’s a casual deli, so that’s what you get! The food is reasonably priced and sandwiches on the French Bread are pretty delicious. My friend got the Wheat bread and she said that was good too. Very fresh ingredients, and is just a great place to grab a quick lunch

Uptwon Café is one of those places where you take-out from all the time only because you work next door and you’re too lazy to walk any further or if you don’t feel like eating the Chinese/Japanese restaurant attached to it. Unfortunately, that’ll be the highest endorsement this place gets from me. The food is actually pretty decent, cheap, and prepared at a fast-food pace, which those of who are always on the run can appreciate. Try the Uptown Café Special or the Italian’s Italian if you’re in the mood for a cold sub. The hot subs? So-so. They could use more flavoring on the chicken, which is pretty bland. Chicken Pesto sandwich? Bland. Uptown Café Chicken? Bland. Chicken Parm? You get the point. If you stick to the cold cuts, you should be okay.

If you are looking for a takeout sub place for lunch, this is it. There are only 2 subs I ever order here 1) the thanksgiving sub(which looks like it is on a specials sheet, but they sell it everyday) and 2) the steak & cheese bellino. The steak is never fatty or extra greasy and they use red onions MMMmmmm. The large sub is pretty big and comes on a crispy baguette type sub roll. I typically split it with someone in my office if I order.

Although I’ve walked by this place a thousand times I’ve never gone in until today. I’ve noticed it but otherwise nothing about the outside of it ever really registered with me as a place I should try. That changed today as my lunchtime hunger pangs drew me right in. What I found was a busy and upbeat place where all kinds of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes and other items can be had quickly and reasonably. From ordering to getting my food less than10 minutes elapsed. While you can eat at one of the few tables inside, I’d consider this a take-out place. I ordered a vegetable sub filled with an assortment of hot off the grill, tomatoes, red and green peppers, a little hot pepper, marinated mushrooms and onions and mozzarella cheese. While it could have used a bit more salt and pepper, it was a filling and delicious meal. The flavorful juices of the grilled veggies worked their way into the roll making each bite luscious and thankfully not overly oily. If the sub roll had been toasted a bit more, it would have been perfection. The staff was friendly and efficient. They also seemed familiar with some of the other customers who were waiting for their orders which I think is a good sign. I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other offerings. A couple of the pasta dishes caught my eye although those might be too heavy for my typical lunches. I noticed they had a couple of sandwiches listed with rabe on them. Being a lover of rabe, I might just see if I can some of that on its own to go next time. Look for the maroon awning as it’s easy to ignore in the hustle bustle of the rest of that restaurant and store populated portion of Cambridge St. I’m glad that for whatever reason it jumped out at me today. It was a happy lunch indeed.

Tried the roast beef sub & the lobster raviolis today. The roast beef was just kinda okay(I wish boyfriend was a little more adventurous and had gone for something like the steak bomb instead but…), though the bread is freaking ridiculous. Super fresh and downright tasty. for being just like a white baguette. The lobster raviolis had real chunks of lobster in it, and the pasta was cooked perrrrfectly al dente :) Could have had MORE lobster/lobster flavor in it but I’m greedy like that. People were super nice and it seemed like a real regulars kinda place, I like that. Huge servings for amazing prices. AND they take credit card! I have to say the lunch gave us both a little tummy trouble afterwards though… too much awesome Italian for one day I suppose.

Cheating on Charlize Theron was probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. She was the perfect girlfriend. So why… why… WHY did I do it… … guilty guilty guilty… was the only thought running through my head when I finally caved in and decided to forgo my regular ‘Charlize Theron’ perfect sub deli in the North End, and wandered over with a friend to dine at Uptown Café. Wow… never thought I’d enjoy«cheating» on my favorite place so much. The bread… Oh-Em-Gee the bread… pure homemade Yumbaliciousness. The Italian sub was very decent, and was a surprisingly good ‘first base’ on this date, but the home-run chicken-salad sub was incredible. I think they said they grill the chicken first, which may be the reason it tasted so good. So good, in fact, that I even ordered second one right away, which, of course, totally ruined my appetite for dinner, but I didn’t care. It was a new romance with the girl next door. The best part of it? Value. GREAT value. Priced perfectly for my student-budget, Obama recession-hit wallet. It was like the perfect ending to a perfect date, where she walks away and doesn’t whine for you to call her 100 times, and actually leaves me Jonesing for more. I’m such the bigamist now. I have 2 favorite deli places… I never thought feeling bad about cheating could feel so good. Wonder if I’ll have to go to confession for this…
