Warby Parker

My two-​star review has to do with the actual product and not the in-​store experience. The store is fun, the employees are helpful, and I’ve gotten quick service when I’ve needed to stop in. No complaints there.
I’ve had two pairs of Warby Parkers, the first ones being more or less what I would expect for $ 100. The lenses scratched pretty easily, though, and after about a year, I found that I needed a new pair. The second pair didn’t even last a whole year. The lenses scratched so easily, and they got so dirty so quickly. They needed to be cleaned multiple times a day! The frames also loosened quickly, regardless of having them fitted and adjusted, so they were always sliding down my nose.
I just got a new pair of glasses from LensCrafters which are almost identical to my old Warbys, and I just realized that I haven’t had to clean them in days (and I’m not constantly pushing them up, either!). LensCrafters was always my go-​to source for glasses, but I wanted to give Warby Parker a chance, mostly because of the price and fun styles. Ironically, I spent the same amount of money on multiple pairs of Warby Parkers that I did on just one new pair from LensCrafters. I am certain my new glasses will outlast any of the Warby Parkers I bought.
I guess if you wear glasses infrequently and want a cool pair for the one or two times a month that you’ll wear them, Warby Parkers make sense. If you wear glasses all day, every day, I would recommend looking elsewhere even if it means spending more money.

So let me start off by saying that Warby Parker has exceptional customer service. They are training their employees the right way. I waited a while for my glasses, and ran into a lot of trouble with the USPS, but the wait is completely worth it. The support I receive while trying to find my glasses was incredible, especially this girl Chloe who I spoke to in the phone. I have finally received my glasses and they are top notch. They fit perfectly, the prescription is correct, and they look great. For 95 bucks you really can’t get a better deal than this. ALSO, side note, glasses come in a very nice box. Inside said box is a case with a very nice cloth bag to keep them in. Very nice touch.

I picked out some frames that I liked on their website and wrote down the names and then went into their Newbury Street store. (I recommend doing both things.) The store is small and crowded, so go early. I was able to quickly narrow it down to the shape/​color I wanted and the salesperson helped me find what fit the bridge of my nose and width of my head/​face. They don’t have a huge or very trendy selection (I would describe the selection as Classics, updated Classics and some basics. Nothing lime green or orange that I saw, but their selection has gotten better than last year and seems to keep improving). My glasses arrived by mail when they said they would and I went back to the store to have them slightly adjusted. So far, I’m very happy with the quality and workmanship on them. I have a strong prescription (progressive lenses with –6.5) and these were the least «thick-​looking» out of my previous glasses. They really did a nice job.
Also, I needed an itemized receipt to submit for out of network insurance (they didn’t take my insurance) so I replied to an email they had sent and got an answer within an hour!
I would definitely recommend them. They may not have what you want, but definitely worth trying. SEE has a better selection if you want something on the trendier side (and they are just a block away) but you’ll pay a bit more (not horrific). For the money and quality and workmanship, I would definitely recommend Warby Parker.

Cute frames, very nice price, but the lens quality is not very good. I have little micro scratches all over them just from gentle cleaning with soap, water, and a soft cloth. I have been wearing glasses a long time and have never had this problem before. I have had my glasses for less than a year and have already replaced the lenses once and will need to do so again. It’s free to do so, but still! Rrrrrrr. I guess it was too good to be true.

Love this place! I’ve purchased 2 prescription glasses here, $ 95 each. The staff is always super nice & laid back. I will definitely continue to purchase my eyewear from here.

I so so sooo wanted to love Warby Parker, but the quality of the glasses really have me thinking otherwise. When I first began my experience with Warby Parker I was totally impressed! The website is phenomenally designed and extremely easy to use. Plus the option to try on the glasses was an amazing way for me to get to see and really try on my glasses before ordering them. (I ordered 10 try on glasses because I am super indecisive) Even sending in my eye prescription was a breeze! I just took a picture on my phone and uploaded it. Plus the glasses arrived in such a pretty case — sky blue is my favorite color!
Everything was soooo amazing and I loved my glasses when I first got them, but after a few days of using them I noticed how loose and bent they became — It’s not like i’m aggressively shoving them onto my face or leaving them out of the case when I am not using it. After 3 weeks the glasses completely slip down and fall off my face when I am looking down. The glasses have become uneven and bent that it has become a pain to use them. Yeah, for 95 dollars I shouldn’t have expected the BEST glasses ever, but I would have loved for them to have an acceptable quality for more than 3 weeks…
Result: cheap and poorly made glasses

I came here because I needed a new pair of specks and had heard great things. When I arrived, the store was packed, which I guess is normal. I get it: it’s a popular place. I was really ready to leave until awesome Mariah saved the day. I told her that I appreciated if she looked at my face and suggested no more than three frames for my face. I had no interest in trying on a million frames. She complied, and was so happy about it that I instantly forgot that I’d been waiting there for what seemed like ages (well, it was long enough to slowly lick all the frosting off my free cupcake of the day from Georgetown Cupcakes downtown, haha). I love my new specks. PLUS, a week after they arrived, WP sent me the nicest handwritten note, a journal and some pencils with a handwritten note from Mariah telling me to have a great school year. That is a serious mike drop. #customerforlife My glasses are great. The fact that WP made it right and then piled on that personal touch made all the difference.

I did the try-​five-​pairs-​at-​home thing and found a frame I loved. Got prescription glasses at WB’s great price ($ 95 for regular single vision) but when I got the glasses back, they were too loose to wear all day long, as I need to. A quick call to Warby Parker and I found out they will do adjustments for free at their brick & mortar stores or they will reimburse up to $ 50 if you go somewhere else for an adjustment. I went to the Newbury St store, and got a quick and expert adjustment at their gorgeous store. I was in and out in under 5 minutes, even though it was very busy. Initially got this set as my «backup» pair, but the quality is great. I’ll be wearing these all the time. Thanks Warby Parker!

I ordered glasses online here first, but I didn’t like any of the ones I chose. So i came in the store, and found a great pair! It was without much help from the folks at the store though– they clearly have their own styles that they like and recommend to everyone, regardless of what you say you are looking for. i had much better help from people i was sending selfie pics to. that being said, these glasses are so well-​priced and the service itself is really great and customer-​friendly. you can also return the glasses within 30 days no questions asked. so company=5 stars, the specific store in boston=3 stars… events out to a good 4 stars.

I went here three weeks ago and waited to write this review until I got my glasses and had worn them for a bit.
Tip — if you want service get there as the store opens. I got there at 30 mins after the store opened on a Saturday morning and the store was already swamped. I did get a salesperson right away but my sense was that if I had come later in the day I would have to wait.
Tip — you can choose an expedited shipping option for an additional $ 30. The salesperson clicked ahead on her screen assuming I didn’t want it expedited. I did. And I paid up. But it wasn’t obvious. I am assuming most customers don’t get the expedited shipping option. So if you want it you can ask.
Salesperson was very helpful. No pressure unlike LensCrafters. And genuinely looked around for what would suit me best.
In the end I bought three pairs of glasses for the price of what one pair would have cost at LensCrafters.
Quality of the glasses. Customer service even post purchase. All amazing.
By the way — if you call their main contact number you get a real live human at the other end. No recordings. And you can respond to their automatic emails and someone responds to it. None of this «this is an automated inbox» BS.
I am steering all of my friends to warby Parker.

more important than the great selection and fun styles, warby parker has excellent service and prices. my husband and i were very happy with our experience when we each went in to pick out our frames, as all of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and made the check out process easy. i did not have my prescription on hand and i was easily able to email it in after. warby is extremely responsive over email and i appreciate that they make this so convenient for customers.
it is worth noting that each pair of eyeglasses was only $ 99 and it is pretty cool that they also donate one pair to someone in need for each pair purchased.
my husband also ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses and unfortunately when they arrived in the mail he realized he did not love the style that he had originally picked. warby let us return them with no issue and no questions asked, and we really appreciated that this end of the process was so positive as well.

Everything looks great online. But in the store the frames are cheaply made and the sales person is rude and pushy. She was nothing short of snarky with my wife who asked a couple of perfectly reasonable questions. We walked out.
There’s absolutely no reason to go back. SEE Eyewear is a 2 min walk and so much better from every conceivable point-​of-​view (get it?).

Wanna be hip and be able to see? Come to Warby Parker. A little tough to find since there isn’t any signs outside. Every time I visited, it is packed with people though. They have a variety of styles. All the sales people are friendly. Lots of times, they are with other customers, so you may have to wait sometimes.
Buying a pair is pretty easy. They measure your papillary distance in the store. Bring your prescription to the store and they order it on their ipad. Kinda sucks that it comes in the mail a week later. Free shipping though.

Lots of amazing frames to choose from in the store here in Boston. This is fantastic because you don’t have to do the mail away online. You need to check with your insurance to see if they cover out of network glasses. Warby Parker does not do insurance but they do give you a receipt so you can try and get reimbursed for some of the cost. I have shopped around other eyeglass stores and they tend to be double the price of Warby, but then insurance usually covers half of that so it’s a wash unless you get reimbursed by your insurance company for out of network glasses you may be purchasing at Warby. If you can make that happen then you will save some money!

What’s going on Warby Parker?! I feel like I am always in this store now because of lens replacements and requesting to have my NEW prescription put in, but instead end up having my old prescription placed in the frames. So far this has happened twice (one time I did not notice for months) and it’s incredibly frustrating considering that you have to wait quite a bit to receive your frames after they have been sent out.
Checking out hasn’t been very efficient lately either. The last associate I saw had trouble finding me in their system (been a customer since 2010 I believe) and my new address doesn’t seem to populate when I am asked where my frames should be shipped to.

The staff here is very friendly, willing to guide you and offer opinions, and the process is simple and painless.
Warby Parker’s model has got it right!

You cannot beat this place! Who doesn’t like great customer service combined with stylish — on trend frames at great prices.
I have over 7 pairs of Warby frames and I paid about the same for all 7 that I would have paid for less then 2 pairs from a national eyeglass store!
And these frames hold up well! My 6 year old tests the quality of the frames daily and they have all held up to his challenge!!!

(I’m not going to review the actual Warby Parker company because I think we can ALL agree that it’s awesome to not pay a kidney for glasses…)
A little tricky to find and kind of small. The employees are friendly enough. It’s not as fun trying on glasses when it’s so crowded and they don’t have a restroom.

I’ve had crappy vision for some time but have always kinda hated wearing glasses. In short, the cute ones are too expensive. This, combined with my deep fear of contact lenses, has led me to spend much of my adult life sans vision correction, traipsing about the world only slightly better off, vision-​wise, than the average bat.
This is where Warby Parker comes to the rescue. Cute frames that can simultaneously be described as «classic» and (grumble) «hipster» are $ 95 for the whole kit and kaboodle: yep, frames and prescription lenses. This is good, guys. This is really good. The lenses are also anti-​scratch and anti-​glare, and there’s a return policy, and they’ll fix them up if something happens. Honestly, the whole thing is a work of branding genius. Bad vision just became an excuse to buy more accessories… for your eyes.
The customer service at this location is OK. I actually kind of prefer to be left to my own devices rather than hounded on by an associate when shopping, so the hands-​off approach here works for me. I can, however, appreciate the comments of other Unilocalers who seemed to find the staff a bit aloof.
In any case, I really cannot say enough good things about the affiliated optometry office next door. Dr. Vania Yip is super friendly, cool, and professional. The cost of an eye exam is $ 95, which means you can get a fresh eye exam and new glasses for the relative bargain of $ 190.00. I hadn’t had an eye exam in ages and would definitely return to Dr. Yip when I need one again in a couple of years. Just be sure to make an appointment ahead of time– their online booking system didn’t work for me, so I had to call the store to make an appointment. Oh, and remember to bring sunglasses if you need your eyes dilated!

There is no right time to go. You will always be surrounded the worst of what Hipsters have to offer, namely the late teens, early 20’s variety. They will bring a gaggle of their intolerable friends that will cluck and peck at at every eyewear selection in the store. This will want to make you want to shoot yourself.
If you can overcome your frustration, you will be rewarded with an awesome pair of glasses. The staff at this location are very nice, if you can fight through the throngs to get to them. They are equipped with IPads, in order to arrange the delivery of your new eyes to your home. They don’t seem to have a lot of time to offer glasses suggestions, so bring a friend if you don’t know what you want.
Eye glasses are $ 95… total! I’ve spent years buying $ 400 Ray Bans, only to pay through the nose when my paid for insurance runs out. Here you get the frames, lens and one year of insurance for less than $ 100. It’s a miracle.
I’ve worn my Warbys every day for two months, and so far we are still in love. They are light weight, sturdy and don’t smudge or scratch.
Tips:
1) They have an optometrist on staff in case you don’t know your prescription, but book your appointment in advance online.
2) If your prescription is over a year old, they won’t accept it.
3) They will measure your Pupillary Distance in store.
4) Some frames cost more than $ 95 — so look at the tags
5) They stock sunglasses — and can make them prescription.
6) It takes 7 business days until you get your frames in the mail– shipping is free– you can pay for rush delivery
7) Their online order tracking is awesome — I received a text message and email when they received my order — a message the day before it was to be delivered, and a delivery confirmation.
8) They have live chatting available on their website– in case you have questions about the glasses, order, etc
9) You can bring your glasses back to Newbury to be fitted. Alternatively– they will reimburse you if you pay to have them fitted elsewhere.
10) If your glasses arrive damaged, or if the fitting place damages your frames (like what happened to my man friend). Warby Parker will without question, rush deliver a new pair, free of charge.
