West Square Apartments

West Sq. is a great place to live. The apartments are top notch and the staff are readily available if you are having any issues related to maintenance, your lease, mail, etc.

Management really works with you to make sure you are 100% happy!

UPDATE:
The neighbor upstairs got a dog. Now 5 hours of sleep turned into 3 hours of sleep. The barking sounds like if it were my own dog next to my bed.
Can anyone justify paying over $ 2,500 PER MONTH for an apartment where you cannot sleep or read a book on your couch? Where is the luxury if there is no comfort?
I will NOT be renewing my lease. NO WAY.

I lived here for 4 months and loved it. The apartments are beautiful and the amenities were great. Everyone who worked there, and everyone I met that lived there were all very nice. The gym is perfect and never too busy. The yoga studio was great and I am disappointed to have never attended their free classes. The parking garage was great for my boyfriend and I always found parking on the street very easy (without a Resident sticker). They held parties occasionally which were really fun. I think they put a huge emphasis on tenant happiness, which is very rare in Boston.
The only complaint I had was the noise. There is a flight path directly above the apartment that begins around 530am on weekdays (although it did stop for a week or two randomly). That was very loud and woke me up. I am a light sleeper though, and it never bothered my boyfriend. The walls are very thin so you can hear a lot, especially the apartment directly above. I never heard voices, but walking around and even vibrating phones were very easy to hear.
While living there I received 3 noise complaints, and I am a very quiet person. I received 1 noise complaint for dropping a box during moving (they said it sounded like I was wrestling? at 3pm on a Sunday.). I received a noise complaint at 11pm on a Saturday night because my friend and I were talking too loudly (very debatable!). I received a third noise complaint for playing a video game (on volume SEVEN) at 630pm on a Sunday. I am a very quiet person so I found this to be a bit ridiculous, but the West Square employees were very nice and understanding about it. Must’ve just had a weird neighbor.
I would highly suggest living here. If possible though, I would suggest getting an apartment on the top floor if you’re a light sleeper and noise bothers you. If you don’t mind noise but don’t want to bother other people I would suggest the bottom floor.

Prior to moving into West Square, I read the reviews on Unilocal,just to see what people had to say. I remember reading «B C.“‘s review and being shocked by how much you could hear in the building. Clearly this was a concern for me, so I asked the leasing staff if they had ever heard of any complaints made before about noise. They told me they had no idea who the person who complained was, as they had never received any complaints from anyone about noise. I believed them and decided to move into the apartment building. I must say the building is incredibly gorgeous and the amenities and rooms are spectacular. I cannot complain at all on that front! Also everyone is extremely kind and friendly, so it makes it a really great place to be.
The noise, however, is absolutely ridiculous and you can literally hear EVERYTHING your upstairs neighbor is doing. It’s frustrating that they said they had never heard anyone complain about this in the past, because I have spoken to numerous people who have said they can hear the people above them. I can literally hear the person above walking around, opening and closing drawers, and putting items onto their counters. I have resorted to sleeping with headphones in and listening to white noise, but that still doesn’t work and the person above me wakes me up at least twice a night. It’s extremely frustrating and irritating to live with. If you are a sound sleeper and noise doesn’t bother you, then you will absolutely love living in this beautiful place. However, if you are annoyed by what sounds like elephants walking above you when you are trying to sleep, I wouldn’t suggest living here unless you were to get a room on the top floor. We tried to move to the top floor after many nights of getting very little sleep, however, there was no room plan exactly like ours, so the 4^th floor options either wouldn’t fit our furniture properly or were way too expensive for our budget.
If you are considering living here I would definitely ask to see a room that has an empty room over it and have someone walk around above you. That way you’ll be able to see for yourself if it’s something you can deal with. I really do think this is an amazing apartment building aside from the noise situation. The gym is so great to have, the common area is clean and inviting, the amenities and appliances are beautiful, and the people are very friendly. I just feel like the building could have been built much better!
I honestly feel bad about writing this negative review, but I know if I were deciding whether or not to live in a luxury building and spending a good sum of money per month, I would want to know what I was getting myself into. If I had realized how bad the noise was prior to my move, I would not have decided to move into an apartment on a lower floor and would only consider living on the fourth (top) floor.

Moved in 2 weeks ago and agree with Lauren and Jennifer on the quality of the common amenities and the high-​end finishes and features in the residences. Also agree that the staff (Kathy, Alex, Stacey, Kim at the concierge desk, and Bryan the maintenance lead) is outstanding; they’re all very friendly, welcoming and responsive to requests.
However, as of right now I’d give West Square 4.5 stars. I’m not quite ready yet to give 5 stars b/​c I feel there are a few operational kinks they need to iron out as more residents move in. For example, the trash/​recycle room on my floor is still filled with broken-​down boxes that has been there for over a week. While I mostly agree with Jennifer on the cleanliness (of the common areas), I’ve also noticed the hallway on my floor hasn’t been vacuumed in at least a week.
Currently the building is still largely unoccupied, so it’s very quiet — almost eerily so at times. Having said that, I feel at this point the property is still heavily focused on an aggressive marketing and leasing campaign to fill the residences along with finishing construction on the other side of the building. As more residents move in, I’m sure the building will feel livelier and I’m optimistic they’ll find the right balance between continued marketing/​leasing efforts with sustaining regular/​daily operational activities essential to resident satisfaction.
Overall, moving to South Boston is a much better fit for my lifestyle. I’m really hopeful West Square can be home for the next few years.

I have been living at West Square for a little over a month now, and I absolutely love it! The leasing agents/​staff treat their residents like family, which creates a comfortable, welcoming environment. The lounge area is phenomenal-​plenty of couches, big screen TVs, and a stunning fireplace that runs from the ceiling to the ground. There is also free Starbucks coffee available 24 hours/​7 days a week. The gym is very extensive with quality equipment. In addition to the gym, there is a motion studio, just like rooms where classes take place in a gym. Best of all, West Square is newly built and spotless!!! Cleanliness is absolutely necessary for me, and I was EXTREMELY impressed with how clean the entire apartment complex is. I have looked at plenty of apartments in Boston, and I can confidently say that West Square is one of the nicest (cleanest), if not the nicest (cleanest), apartments around.
