Salmon Run @ Perry Creek

Lived here for 2 years and it was great! Lovely setting and attentive staff! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to be in this area, convenient commute to the Eastside and I5 corridor, easier than expected!

This place is great… To be fair I have a top floor corner unit so I never hear anything. Office staff is charming and professional. Facility is clean and well managed. SUPER nice office ladies, a really nice place to live.

My husband and I lived in a one bedroom (the larger) at Salmon Run for almost 7 years. This year we are finally moving to a home and I think I can now give my full-​unbiased opinion.
Pros of Salmon Run–
* Location in proximity to restaurants, our jobs, freeway, trails, parks, etc. is fantastic!
* The maintenance dudes are awesome, courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable.
* They keep the complex pretty and clean and there are dog poo stations set up.
* Size of apartment is great. We have lived here like I mentioned 7 years with our dog and the other 2 bedroom apartments in the area are smaller/​same sq. ft. as our 1 bedroom.
* Complex is small, and quiet, and we barely ever heard anyone (side-​note we lived on the 3^rd floor).
Neutrals of Salmon Run–
* Amenities are just so-​so. Gym is small and not really useful for more than two at a time.
* Pool and spa seem to be closed a lot in 7 years. Maintenance is one thing, redoing the entire pool at least 3 times seems excessive. But to be fair I don’t know anything about pools.
Cons of Salmon Run, and the reason for 3, nearly 2 stars not 5–
* Having lived here as long as we did we have seen many, many staffing changes. They are never great, the current set of ladies is meh, although much better than the one previous woman who was certainly drinking on the job in my opinion.
* Last year they raised rent 10%. They made some updates to their clubhouse that used to be free to rent with deposit, and now they charge for it. So not only did they raise rent much more than the average cost of living, the improvements they made to the complex were within their own offices and there is a fee to use it ($ 75 at last ask).
* Signing a new lease used to mean something like one year it was a new faucet, or carpet cleaning. Not only is this no longer the case, we have not been offered a carpet cleaning in 5 years. If you have ever lived in an apartment you can imagine how bad our carpets are after 7 years.
* Mold, black mold. I am convinced that we have mold in the walls. We even went so far as to have 2 windows replaced about 5 years ago due to condensation. we use the heater, we follow the «rules» for living in humidity. I stopped alerting them to this situation and just lived with it, because their response kept being «use Bleach». Bleach does not stop condensation. The home was clearly built incorrectly in some way.
* Kitchen drawers are tiny, so small they do not fit a silverware tray. This has bothered me for 7 years.
When all is said and done I think it is fair to say we would not have lived at Salmon Run for 7 years if we didn’t love it in some way. The last 2 – 3 years of our life there we just wanted out, and kept staying as it would have cost us more money to move. I heard they will now be charging upwards of $ 1350 for a one bedroom our size which is highway robbery. They are asking people to pay for fake luxury. What a racket. I hope they make some improvements to warrant that kind of cash.

These apartments are great, but… black mold galore! There is extreme amounts of condensation in the master bedroom and bathroom. We clean it and use all fans, but it just comes back. The place is old but we like how roomy it is and how quiet it is. You can never hear any neighbors. Also, garbage is not included in rent. And for how old the place is, the rent should NOT be 1,320.
Parking is not a problem at all.

Pros: very relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, neighbors keep quiet and no unsupervised children running wild. Staff is great and addresses every concern. Plenty of parking for guests. Location!
Cons: very very old apartments. Essex needs to remodel and update these for the prices they go for. The staircases are dingy, dirty, and has all sorts of creatures and bugs making a home there. There was never once where you didn’t walk into a spider web. The washers and dryers need to be replaced asap. And the washer shakes and rumbles, feels like it’s a rocket that is about to take off into space.

After reading the two reviews on here I have decided a «realistic review» needs to be added. I have lived at Salmon Run for almost 4yrs and just turned in my notice because I’m buying my first home. My son and I love it here. You can walk to shopping, there are nature trails that go to Fred Meyer and follow a real salmon run creek, and the property is beautiful. After I move I will *admittedly* be returning to the trails and creek because they (and the gigantic duck pond) are priceless to have so close to home. Even after the staff changeover it has been no different here and the new gal is nothing but professional and nice. I know this because my kiddo and I visit the office to say «hi» because they’re so friendly here. Every time I see maintenance, even while in my car, they wave to me. Overall– amazing location, friendly staff, and beautiful property. As for noise, it’s an APARTMENT. I’ve lived in many and they’re ALL the same. There’s not even a parking issue in the building I live in! Not much to complain about, that’s for sure.

We have been –tolerating– this place just long enough to move out. Always paid our rent on time or early, never had any neighbors complain about us, nothing and the staff here treats us like we’re a problem! They had a new management takeover and it really shows. They’ve got a serious, over the top control freak — absolutely no customer service — type of attitude. They don’t even bother with a phone call to express even the most minor concern. They go straight to giving you a notice to evict! All it would take is just a phone call! We would NOT recommend this place to anyone EVER!

My girlfriend lived here for about a year, which means I basically lived here too.
I hate apartments like these. I would go into a deep depression if I lived in one of these shoe boxs.
This place doesn’t deserve more than 2 stars because they were nearly responsible for her fathers death. He was staying with her for a few weeks while her mom was out of town. He struggled with diabetic issues, so he had to be closely monitored, but was okay to be home alone during the day. She left for work one morning, and called her dad to check on him. He was starting to sound very lethargic and unresponsive. She called me crying to rush over there while she leaves work, and that 911 was on the way. We all got there (except her– she works further away), and her apartment was locked. We ran to the front office, no body there, no signs, no nothing. We were running around for about 15mins looking for SOMEONE to show up to open the apartment. This was in the middle of the afternoon. They were preparing to knock the entire door down, when we spotted a handyman. He was able to open the apartment (with much hesitation, talking about he wasn’t authorized). We all told him «We have to get in there! He could be dying!». The paramedics got to him and were able to get to work.
Absolutely terrifying moment. I can’t believe nobody was in the front office, no sign, no nothing in case of an emergency. My friend gave me a key after that, but it really made me think about how important it is they are there during business hours with numbers to reach people.
After speaking with the paramedics they were very shocked there was no one to help at the front desk– not even a «out showing apartments, here’s a number to reach someone». They were clearly frustrated.
Besides that, you can count on people always stealing your paid parking spot or blocking you.
Reason for 2 stars? We were loud as hell playing Wii and drinking late into the night and nobody ever complained.
