The Village at Beardslee Crossing

Literally writing this as I am in bed right now and can hear the bed on the other side of my wall. I can hear EVERY single movement including their bed squeaking, when they climb into bed, adjust their sleeping position, the headboard banging against the wall (yeah… something I’d rather not hear), their exact conversations, and them telling their dog «Bad dog!» Walls are extremely thin. I’m sure my neighbor isn’t intentionally making noise, it’s just the poor design of this place. Noise also carries from upstairs from their footsteps which sound like they are constantly stomping or always moving large pieces of furniture. It is not worth almost $ 1500 every month for me to hear my neighbors go about their private business. I give VBC 2 stars because there is a nice modern touch to this place, the staff is nice, it’s in a convenient location, and it’s still pretty new.

I am the fourth floor resident, and I have to tell you if you live below us we’re really sorry. The floor is too thin! And that’s why you hear us walk! I have been receiving letters from the office and notices to be quiet during certain hours, we abide by the rules and still, consistently receiving warnings when we are only walking regularly and talking regularly. We also pay $ 1600 a month, and we can’t even live the place comfortably! The management team is also terrible, they only care about new residents and disregard you once you have signed the lease. We also pay $ 100 every month for parking! This sums to $ 1700 every month, with this kind of money, I’d expect better services and qualities as well as the appliances from the apartment. The top floor is usually where they recommend pet owners, as a result the whole floor are filled with some furious dogs that bark loudly in the morning when you’re trying to sleep, not to mention, at night too! However, some are nice ones which rarely bark at all. This is the worse apartment I have lived in by far.

Management left her info below just to make herself look productive. I can assure you, she has not solved my problems. She let’s the neighbors stomp and walk all over me. One of her employees used a weird excuse saying oh I’m I think your neighbors just got a new dog.
I have been dealing with this issue for 3 months and my disability has worsened because of it.
They want your money, they don’t care. Take your money elsewhere.

Worst apartment building I’ve lived in.
Parking a rip off, water sewer garbage a rip off, apartment pricing a rip off! And that isn’t even why I am giving them 1 star, if I could give them no stars I would. The management is terrible. These are just a few things that have happened. They «misplace» important documents all the time… Like how much we owe on rent, how much we paid for our security deposit, if we’ve paid rent that month. Anything that has to do with money they «misplace» and blame on new management or new programs or whatever else they mustard up. 6 times they said we didn’t pay rent when we did (they later found out we did). They also give your parking space away every other day. Please don’t live here. Find somewhere else to live. Don’t believe me just ask them how many times they changed their staffing in the last year and a half. Each time they switch paperwork goes missing.

If you read all of the 1-​star or 2-​star reviews, most people are complaining about the same thing, and I am in agreement with them:
— Parking is a rip-​off. If you look around Bothell, you won’t find any other housing where you are forced to pay for garage parking. The garage door, by the way, is frequently left open or broken. The other new apartments down the street have ample free street parking, and you don’t have to worry about getting a pass from the office whenever you want guests to come over.
— Utilities are a rip-​off. Before we moved in, the saleslady who gave us the tour (dishonest person named Vanessa who lied to us about other things) talked about how we’d save money on utilities because the units were built green. I honestly don’t know what that means, but I assume she was referring to the windows (which I admit are good at insulating from sound and weather). But expect to spend around $ 150 – 200 per month on electricity, water, and garbage.
— We lived in the west building, which required us to walk a block to pick up our packages. You also have to walk over if you ever need to borrow a hand truck or talk to staff. They used to have staff in our building, which was much more convenient, but once the second building opened, I guess they cared less about the tenants in our building.
— We lived on the third floor and it was a mistake. As someone else noted, the top floor has wood floors and the insulation between the floors is poor. If your neighbors upstairs are heavy walkers, you will hear it.
— Moving in and out of the apartment is a pain because the «freight elevators» are tiny. When we moved out, we opted to carry the big stuff down the stairs instead because we remembered how difficult it was to squeeze items like our couch into the elevator.
— With the exception of one girl (I think her name was Alexa), the staff doesn’t seem like they want to help you. There were 3 or 4 occasions when I asked about something, the employee wrote it down saying they would contact me, and never did.
— Our move-​out experience was terrible. We had to pay the early-​termination fee plus the concession, which I have no problem with because we agreed to the terms when we signed the lease. However, they sent the bill to the wrong address. They just assumed we didn’t want to pay and did not call us to verify that we received their mail. Instead they contacted a debt collection agency without our knowledge and had them manage the situation. Of course we’re paying it, but the fact that Village staff would potentially damage our credit without reaching out to us really pissed us off. They will probably do some damage control on this review, but considering all the other bad reviews, I will leave it to the reviewer to decide on who to believe.
My impression of the unit itself is mixed. The kitchen and full-​size laundry room are nice, but some things about the units seemed like an afterthought:
— As someone else mentioned, the water heater is in the bedroom closet, and it takes up a lot of space. My wife and I could barely fit our clothes in there, and it’s mainly because I don’t have a lot of clothes.
— Another problem is that the bathroom is so tiny in relation to the rest of the unit; a more balanced layout with less space given to one of the other rooms and more space given to the bathroom and bedroom closet would have been better.
— With the exception of the kitchen countertop and windows, the build quality of the unit is just okay; the carpet feels cheap and the paint will start to chip without even touching it.

Been here for about 5 months now and am fairly familiar with the VBC. Let me break this up into the good and the not so great.
Good:
— Location. (UW Bothell, 405, Bellevue, tons of companies nearby at Canyon Park Corporate just across 405, commercial businesses in the same development like Starbucks, Beardslee Public House by John Howie Restaurants, Potbelly sandwiches, Menchies frozen Yogurt).
— New establishment with building 2 coming up in the early part of 2015
— Garaged parking and nightly security watch
— The management team does their best to satisfy all the tenants & will throw occasional parties in the club room with free food and beverages during holidays, game days etc. (tons of fun and free prizes given away!)
— The club room is pretty rad including pool tables, ping pong, shuffle board, 2 flat screens and a kitchen. You can reserve the club room and throw private parties! The outdoor patio features 2 new BBQ grills and fire-​pits for evening fires (awesome during summertime).
–Maintenance is on top of things, if you have any issues at all, you write up a ticket and they’ll be at your door fixing things at no cost.
–Tenants are friendly and there’s rarely ever a concern over your neighbors.
— There’s a theater room that features a huge tv and 4 comfy recliners with surround sound in case you love movie nights with a handful of friends. Pop in the DVD and kick back with some popcorn fun.
— 2 gym rooms in building 2, one with weights and the other with exercise bikes; both have flat screen TV’s
— Referral program that allows you to make $ 500-​$ 1000 per referral
— flexible lease options (7 month minimum)
— storage units for rent found in the secured parking garages, $ 40 a month.
Not so great:
— Rent & Parking prices. You are looking at about 20k annually to live here although If you are a new tenant and sign a minimum 12 month lease, you can get one month of credit for free. Parking is $ 100 a month per spot and you have very limited options to park nearby if you were to try and forego this cost.
— Utility bill is irrationally high, paying something in ball park of $ 150/​month and $ 75 for electric bill.
— Internet and Cable is pretty much confined to Comcast/​Xfinity as they have a contract with the building. Can’t get much else.
— If for some reason you have to cancel your contract, you will have to fork up the free month of credit given to you at lease signing PLUS an additional 2 months of rent in pay… so you have to be 100% confident in the length of your tenure.
— I hear pet deposits and policies on specific breeds are somewhat of a hassle as well (don’t have any pets)
That’s about it off the top of my head. I’m looking forward to continuing my stay into the summer time.

I moved here some time ago and while I have no complaints about the layout and interiors, the management is severely disappointing.
Primarily the parking is absolutely atrocious. They’ve made it clear they don’t care what their tenants have to say and in fact continue to make it worse.
All this on top of the fact that I was intentionally and maliciously mislead into believing there were plenty of free parking options before I signed the lease. There is clearly no shortage of space for parking and no reason to charge such ridiculous premiums for it accept for pure extortion.
Over all, despite being satisfied with my apartment itself, I cannot recommend signing a lease here.

Resigning my lease here was a mistake. The new management is incompetent and apathetic to the residents that live here at The Village. Living here is incredibly frustrating and not worth $ 20,000k annually. Let alone anymore, because that’s not including parking (95 a month, +95 for any additional vehicles). Not all is bad here at The Village. I love my apartment. It’s designed very well, with an open layout and fine materials/​crafting. The biggest flaw I’ve seen for my personal apartment, is that I live in the 4^th floor, so my patio gets rained on without any cover. Normally I wouldn’t be too picky about something like this, other than the fact that my dryer vent shoots out right over my patio. So constantly, there is wet lint stuck everywhere because of how much it rains in Washington. Other than that, I love the feeling of my apartment. My BIGGEST CONCERN with The Village, is the incredibly insufficient parking methods. I DO not understand who is making the decision for these policies to go in place, but they are neither sympathetic nor empathetic, to their long staying residents. I love our game room. Being able to use gas range grills and fire pits, is an amenity that makes my stay here at The Village more pleasant. Maintenance here is great, they are constantly on top of the grooming at both buildings and shopping centers. Great job maintenance. Management I really don’t see getting any better. They have literally gotten worse every time they’ve switched out. The customer service is embarrassing. As of right now, I WOULD NOT recommend anyone moving into The Village at Beardslee Crossing. If you’re looking for that modern subarb feel, with beautiful apartments, check out Six Oaks. We’ve been there a few times and can see the difference in how the place is managed. It’s a little more expensive, but it’s worth not having to deal with the problems you’ll have here at The Village. Thank you for reading and I hope it helps!

I created an account on Unilocal just to make this review so here it goes. First off, the apartments here are gorgeous and spacious. They have stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite counters. On the flip side, the bathroom is very small compared to the rest of the apartment and the boiler in the walk-​in closets is the last thing that anyone would want in there. It’s huge and in your face and takes up a large chunck of space that probably could have been dedicated to shelves. However, after living here for about a month I’ve learned to overlook those things.
Moving on to more important issues, the things I absolutely cannot stand about this place are as follows:
1. Parking: it’s an absolute rip off! To pay $ 95 (which according to previous reviews shot up from $ 70) for a parking space is absolutely ridiculous especially when there is no other alternative to parking. Also, the garage door has not been working since I’ve been here and I haven’t seen anyone attempt to fix it. Given that a review was written about this same issue 7 months ago I think it’s safe to assume that they don’t intend on fixing it anytime soon even though they told me this is something they are working on when I moved in. To pay $ 95 for a parking spot that isn’t even 100% secure is just absurd.
2. Packages: I live in the adjacent building to the main one and all my packages go there. It is extremely annoying and dangerous to be trucking my sometimes rather large packages through the village, down a slope and across a busy street. I think that it’ll be best if they dedicated a space in building 1 to keep packages just like they do in the main one. This is also another issue that someone addressed 7 months ago in their review but still no action has been taken.
3. Online resident portal: Can the charge descriptions under the payment history tab be any more ambiguous? I like to know exactly what I’m being charged for so «recurring charges update» simply won’t do when in fact they are referring to things like «parking» and «renter’s insurance».
I hope that someone reads these critiques and tries to implement some changes. Maybe then I can update my review to 4 stars.

Moving from out of state can be a hassle. Especially when you are starting a new job and also are trying to find a place to live. I went to tour a couple of apartments in the area (Bothell, Woodinville, Everett, etc) and as soon as I saw the The Village at Beardslee Crossing, I knew I wanted to live there. Everything from the amenities (the complex is brand new and truly impeccable) to the staff, were TOP notch! I had the pleasure of working with multiple staff members and they were all FANTASTIC. They went above and beyond with assisting me with the cable/​internet installation, as well as the moving of my belongings. I am very excited to be a resident and couldn’t be happier with my selection, not only for the great condition of the apartments, but also for how helpful and caring the staff continue to be.

From the time my husband and I first came to view the apartments to having lived here a few weeks now, we have felt nothing but absolute kindness and professionalism from the staff. The entire staff has been wonderful, particularly Aaron. We first viewed the apartments with him and scheduled a second viewing with him soon after. He was patient in showing us any layout we wanted to see, even after we decided to lower our budget. Aaron let us explore the apartment ourselves and come to him with any questions, which he gave us clear and honest answers for. He communicated with us throughout the process of leasing the apartment and still greets us and asks us how things are going.
This is still a new building and we’ve been given fair notice for any work that might disturb us. The grounds workers I’ve encountered have been very nice.
The cabana is a really great perk and we utilize it’s existence. It has a large kitchen, two televisions with cable access, grills, fire pits, ping pong, shuffleboard, and a recently installed pool table, all with a lovely view.
The free Wi-​Fi in the cabana is through Xfinity and all you have to do to use it is sign on as a guest.
The workout space is really great for an apartment. They have wonderful equipment and room for yoga (and I believe a tenant is working to start yoga classes here).
Any apartment community will have some noise. Occasionally, we can hear people talking as they pass through the hall and we can sometimes hear our neighbor (s?) walking upstairs. None of it is enough to knock any points off this place. Quiet hours are early and everyone seems to be respectful of them.
We had to put a work order in for the seal on our fridge and it was fixed right on schedule and we haven’t had any trouble since.
Overall this place is very clean and polished, the community is friendly and considerate, the area is safe, the staff is amazing and our apartment itself is a nice little retreat. We love living here.

I have been living here for just a few weeks now, but absolutely love the place. My fiancé and I came in early March for a tour and were greeted by Aaron, an outstanding consultant. He was friendly, welcoming, and answered our questions honestly. We are pretty young and this was my first time moving to my own place, but the all the staff here: Aaron, Toni, Patrick, and Sheryl, and Darrell did a fantastic job of making it an easy transition. No matter where you’re at in life, this is a great place to call home.

My husband and I have been all over apartment shopping, and we were pretty excited to check out this place. From the pictures, it looks modern, fresh, and pretty much exactly what we want. When we walked in the leasing office, two people were lounging on the sofas chatting in the entry way, and I assumed they were residents. Turns out they were the office staff, which I have no qualms about– I definitely understand the need to relax some at work. The man approached us and I told him that we’d like to inquire about their apartments, in particular their one or two bedrooms. He looked at me condescendingly and asked, «Really? One or two bedrooms?» I said yes, and he asked me, «Well, what is your price range?» again with a judgmental smirk. I was beginning to wonder if I should have put on something other than jeans to tour this place… I told him my range (I had already researched how much the apartments were online) and he consented to showing us their model– the whole time with this weird attitude. This was all before he had asked our names or even introduced himself. He actually didn’t do either one of these things until right before we left– I believe his name was Aaron, but I can’t be sure. Anyways, his judgmental attitude put a damper on the whole tour– both my husband and I were offended, and we felt like he didn’t think we could afford/​were serious about moving there. I think it’s because we both look pretty young, but should it matter? I feel like he could have been professional, even if he drew those (wrong) conclusions.
The apartment itself was nice, with modern finishes. It was relatively small for the price (we found others nearby that were larger and cheaper), but since it’s all new I guess they can charge a bit more. He didn’t bother showing or mentioning any of the amenities. It was by far the worst tour we have ever had, and we’ve gone on quite a few. It was just a shock after reading other’s reviews about how great the staff is. I just think– if he’s acting like this before we even sign for the apartment, how is he going to be when we have an issue and need his help? Needless to say, we crossed this place off our list.

1) Internet.
The internet at Beardslee Crossing is powered exclusively by Comcast, an arrangement concocted by the apartment complex itself. There are posters for Xfinity plastered throughout the building and «free» wifi tenuously connecting the common area to the internet.
Please note that to enjoy the complimentary wireless dial-​up requires an active Comcast subscription guaranteed be at least 10 times slower and more expensive than similar internet currently available in places like Romania.

2) Parking.
Parking is $ 70/​month for one cramped spot inside a garage whose main door is broken and has never been closed.
Outside the main building, which houses hundreds of tenants, visitors, children, pets, and lost delivery drivers, you’ll find about 12 parking spaces. That’s right. And all of them will always be occupied. If you live here, you can look down from the balcony each night and watch the grim procession form: a small traffic jam of tenants driving round and round, searching for a place to park.
3) Deliveries.
There are many ways to receive deliveries at Beardslee Crossing, and all of them involve an expedition from your apartment on the 4^th floor of a C shaped building to a spot over a quarter-​mile away on foot. The good news, of course, is that you’ll get lots of exercise at all sorts of exciting hours of the day and night, which is doubly important, since:
4) Gym.
The gym seems to have been designed for old people. Dumbbells increase in 5lb increments all the way to something heavy enough for your grandmother to use, and there’s exactly 1 treadmill. With no barbells, and barely enough space to do a sit-​up, the gym resembles more of a storage closet for crappy workout equipment.
If you look around, you’ll also find an abandoned water-​dispensing thingamajig with no cups and a single public toilet on the other side of the building.
5) Cost.
If you have any kind of pet, the deposit is an astounding $ 1000, of which $ 500 is non-​refundable. To be fair though, the $ 2200/​month price tag totally makes sense once you realize that it comes with such wonderful amenities as:
a) a super tiny trash shoot.
b) overpriced utilities.
c) enough hot water for about one and a half 5 minute showers.

PHENOMENAL! From the first visit up until now, the staff at Beardslee Crossing have been nothing short of stellar. Patrick’s consistent commitment to us ensured our desire. He truly showed he cared and was by our side throughout the process. The building is beautiful, and the grounds look amazing. The apartment finishes are stunning. Only thing I can really commend about this place is the staff. I’ve lived here for 7 months, and everyone is pretty nice. Patrick’s initial look was a bit overbearing in my taste, but he’s a nice guy too. My favorite is the older guy who diligently keeps every corner of the apartment clean no matter who’s looking. However I’m still counting my days til my move-​out.
I just can’t live here any more because of these noises. I’ve never had any worse floor noise elsewhere. When guys upstairs would just walk around their room, they will make loud thumps I can even tell where they are, and I can feel *my* floor shake sitting on the floor if they’d run or slam drawers. Well, the fire department nearby, a flock of crows who lost their habitat to this apartment, and a lady who is everyday looking for her cat with a long-​drawn yell add to the noise, but these are nothing compared to the floor noise. Also, when it rains a lot, the water drain will make noise all night.
Neighbors are generally OK, but a few really ruin it for everyone. Some people hog the carts for their trash, so even though there should be like 6 carts, I’ve never seen one in months. Some senseless also scatter their cat nips, dog doodies, and vacuum dust in the trash area. If it weren’t for that older guy, the trash rooms will become disasters soon.
Another big disappointment is the shops. Shops are perpetually in construction after a year. Actually that was the big reason for us to choose this apartment, but it looks we can’t be enjoying any of them. Without that, nothing’s in walking distance.

My wife and I moved in in the end of May and are extremely happy with the place thus far. There was a bee’s nest right by our patio that the excellent management team took care of quickly. They are pet-​friendly which is great for us.
We thought that the retail was going to be ready when we were going to move in (we came from out of state) but although it isn’t it’s still nice to know that it will be ready soon.
Everyone in the building, including the management are awesome. Really enjoy this place.
The one thing that could use a little improvement is the «state-​of-​the-​art» exercise room. It doesn’t seem to be totally finished yet. UPDATE: Fitness room TVs are working fine now and room is amazing.

This is the first apartment I have leased and I can tell you that it has been a very positive experience. Everyone in the office are extremely friendly and want to offer their help whenever you need it and it’s genuine. If you are interested in leasing ask for Patrick Hender, He has been the most helpful and goes out of his way to make sure you’re enjoying your stay. I am very impressed with the location, right by the freeway and within walking distance of Cascadia/​bothell campus. These are brand new apartments with great appliances. The biggest plus for me is that they welcome your pets and there are plenty of trails around to walk them.
