History

Established in 1985.

1985 — Scott Roseman buys the Neighborhood Food Co-​op in Santa Cruz.

October 1985 — Scott opens Westside Community Market in a warehouse on Ingalls Street on the Westside of Santa Cruz.

May 1990 — Westside Community Market closes and three days later New Leaf Community Market opens.

1993 — Bob Locatelli begins a cooperative relationship that brings New Leaf to Felton.

October 1993 — New Leaf opens on 41st Avenue in Capitola.

1995 — The Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce names New Leaf Community Markets Business of the Year. New Leaf also receives the 1995 Sustainable Quality Award in the medium-​sized business category.

May 1996 — New Leaf opens in the historic Bank of America building on Pacific Ave. in Santa Cruz.

February 1998 — The fifth New Leaf opens in Boulder Creek.

June 2005 — New Leaf opens Bloom Total Body Care on Pacific Ave.

2005 — New Leaf’s 20th Birthday!

June 18, 2008 — New Leaf opens a flagship location at the intersection of Hwy 1 and 92 in Half Moon Bay.
