We used Sam for our wedding in June 2009 and he was outstanding.
The dance floor packed the entire time — something I haven’t seen since the heyday of our friend’s weddings when we were in our early 20s. We had talked to Sam about what kind of music we liked and some sample song lists but, because I had seen him DJ my friend’s wedding and knew that he was excellent at reading crowds, left a lot of it up to him and he hit it out of the park.
And as a bride who did all her own planning (parents 400 miles away and groom working on a trial for the months right before the wedding) Sam was amazing. He was utterly responsive, and completely reassuring. After losing the first person I found to be our officiant because he was (unbeknownst to me) talking to another couple about the same date, and they sent in their deposit check first, I became a little paranoid about getting a contract signed and a deposit in as fast as possible. Sam wanted to discuss more about what we wanted/​needed before sending out a contract and responded to my ‘well can I just send you a deposit’ meltdown by telling me that I was on his calendar and unless I told him otherwise he fully intended to be at my wedding playing the music. Completely took the crazy out of my sails.
Also, I found out fairly last minute that the venue required Liability Insurance from DJs or Bands. I called Sam in a panic to ask if he had Liability Insurance and he just replied ‘I will by June’. That might have been the best thing any of my vendors said to me.
Seriously, working with him was like taking a nice warm bath — everything was soothing and reassuring, but having him DJ was much much hotter — I haven’t stopped hearing comments about what a fabulous time people had on the dance floor.
And I almost forgot to mention, that same was completely UN-​wedding DJ like. He did the introductions and sequeways we requested and nothing else. There was no element of cheese. There was no hearing himself talk rather than just playing music and letting the guests enjoy themselves. He had told me that was his style which I was happy about, but I hadn’t expected to hear so many compliments about the fact that our DJ didn’t talk. I thought it was only noticed when they did, but my guests actually went so far as to say how great it was.

My husband and I had some pretty eclectic tastes, and were a little particular about what kind of music we wanted and did not want. Sam was able to listen to our requests and ideas and then integrate it with some other choices at the wedding. His choices were right in line with what we wanted.
Sam was also very responsive and attentive to our needs and questions. He came over to our house and asked all the right questions including many we had not even thought about. He really pulled together a great night of dancing for us. I would definitely recommend his services.

We were first put in touch with Sam by our photographer. After scheduling a time to meet, Sam was able to come over to our place and sit with us to discuss our musical interests. We were both a little wary of scary wedding d.j.‘s and were pleasantly put off guard by Sam’s polite and unhurried approach. Our first meeting with Sam turned out great and we really felt comfortable sharing what we had in mind. The thing we both liked about Sam was his willingness NOT to offer his advice but rather suggest offerings based on our preferences.
As the wedding grew near, we felt like we needed to re-​visit our wedding day soundtrack and called Sam for another meeting. Sam was very accomodating and had us over to his house to hone our musical selections. His vast collection and knowledge of music was obvious and his ability to find a tune at a moments notice was impressive.
On our wedding day, Sam was the consumate professional. Checking in with us about our first dance song and even finding a choice «on the spot». We never felt like he «took over» our wedding with his own music and stayed with the music we had pre selected.
Having Sam at our wedding was piece of mind for the both of us and we are both happy to recommend him as a d.j. to anyone looking for one.

Sam provided the music for our wedding. The music plan for the wedding and reception was understated, and we were a little concerned Sam might find our event. .. well, okay I will say it. .. BORING. If he did find it boring, he was the ultimate professional and didn’t tell us so. Instead, he listened to our requests, made suggestions, asked questions and in the end made the entire process completely effortless on our part. And time and again during the ceremony our guests asked who choose the music. Well, a little bit was chosen by us. .. but most was chosen by Sam! In our opinion, you want a DJ that listens to the plan, but is flexible enough to read the room and provide what is really appropriate and well received by the entire group. There was nothing more Sam could have done to make the evening any more perfect. We are very grateful to have Sam as our DJ.

Sam was the dj at our wedding in Sonoma in Sept. 2007 and did an amazing job. We went with a more traditional song list with lots of fun 80s music. Sam was great at reading the crowd and kept people dancing all night. Highly highly recommended.

He did a great job … listened to our vague description of music preferences and came up with a fun and unique mix for the wedding. He had to combine bulgarian, serbian, south american and country music (among others) and he did an amazing job. And people were dancing non-​stop!!!
He was also very professional… easy to keep in touch and responded quickly… even sent kind reminders when i was falling behind schedule.

Sam was the DJ on a wedding where I was the wedding photographer. The bride was from Bulgaria and the groom was American. I have met with many DJ’s before but Sam really stands out with his unique music repertoire like Indian, rock and roll, latin american, rock, pop etc.
Sam is specializing in cross cultural weddings/​events and he can definitely make the guests dance until their last breath! Unfortunately I was on duty and I could not dance with the crowd but I sang along when Madonna started singing.
