Bodywork Bistro

I get massages frequently and have tried many places in Boulder. My experience at Bodywork Bistro was one of my least favorite, most expensive and left me feeling ripped off.
When I called Bodywork Bistro (having never been there before), I asked to schedule a massage with a therapist «who could use a lot of pressure.» The person on the phone said, «ok, we’ll book you for a deep-​tissue massage then.» I said ok. Not knowing that at Bodywork Bistro, «deep tissue» is an added expense.
After my massage, when I went to pay, I discovered that I actually owed more than I expected. The massage therapist suggested to just scrap the «deep tissue» part, but the girl at the counter said, «technically you owe this additional amount because you asked for deep tissue.» So, I complied and paid the extra. They didn’t tell me on the phone when I booked my session that when I asked for «someone who could use lots of pressure» that I’d be charged more!
In fact, I’ve never had this happen anywhere else. It’s custom to talk with the receptionist about being paired with a massage therapist who is a good fit for your needs, that’s all I thought I was doing.
The actual massage that I received was mediocre at best. And it didn’t feel different (in terms of being «deep tissue») than other massages I normally receive at other places for much less moolah.
In addition to the poor customer service experience and mediocre massage, the massage room was cramped and not very relaxing feeling at all. For the prices this place charges, I feel like they need to up-​level their customer experience on all levels!!!
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but every time I think about my experience at Bodywork Bistro I feel upset, so after this, I’m letting it go and never going back.

Best massage ever! I get massages regularly. Was in town on vacation. First off read the reviews online and we decided to give it a shot. The reviews said great massage no appoint necessary just walk in. My gf and I walked in. On the way to the private session Sarah asked me a few questions. Her hands are amazing, less than a minute into a 1 hour massage shed zeroed in on the biggest problem and got after it. It was my lower back. It’s a day later and wow, my experience was sublime. I asked my gf when she came out 1 — 5? She said 5. Her trouble area was shoulders. I’m glad I walked into the Bistro

Boulder visitors and tourists, don’t go here! After telling me 5 times that they had a 24 hour cancellation policy and I would be charged if I tried to cancel my massage less than a day in advance, they called me a HALF HOUR before my appointment to tell me that they had «a little scheduling issue» and could no longer take me at or anywhere near my appointment time. I had a flight home that evening and couldn’t make the later time they offered and it completely screwed up my last day in Boulder. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

As a hairstylist I have a busy schedule and sometimes some shooting neck and/​or shoulder pain. I love that I can call over and get an appointment that day. They offer chair and quick table massages which is great for me to fit in between my clients. They have saved me from some crazy shooting pain allowing me to get through my day. I always feeling wonderful when walking out of Bodywork Bistro!

Wow — Chanel is top notch. I planned for a walk in chair massage due to some shoulder pain, and just ten minutes into it, I knew I needed a table massage because I could tell it would be even better. They were flexible and allowed me to go from chair massage to table massage to a private massage in a matter of minutes. The experience was great, and Chanel was fun to talk to as well. Will return in a heartbeat.

I had the most wonderful experience at their location on Spruce St. It was easy to get a walk in appointment for a table massage and I was able to schedule a private follow up with Regan — amazing — for the next day. Love Love Love this place!

Lovely atmosphere, massages, and people. I appreciate that I can walk-​in and get a quick table massage for an affordable price. I never plan to have pain or an injury… it just happens and I need help NOW, and this is where I go to get it.

reilly just gave me a killer deep and stretchy massage. if i lived here, i’d go back. frequently. they got me in quickly and were professional.

I would recommend this place if your looking for a great massage at a great price. They did a fantastic job and really paid attention to the areas I needed more kinks worked out. My massage therapist was not only knowledgeable but had years of experience. I will be back when I am in Boulder, for sure!

The massage I got here was the best I’d gotten in a very long time. The massage therapist Heather has been doing massage for 12 years and is excellent. Inside the location is small but relaxing.
I went in for a massage after almost getting into a bad car accident, my back and neck were killing me. I left feeling a million times better. Heather was really nice and she spoke very highly of the business and the manager treats the therapists really well.
I thought the massages were very well priced and the quality was excellent. I don’t see this place as a «mothers day spa» in the sense that you make it a girls spa day or whatever, I see this place as really seeking massage treatment for health benefits or if you’re looking for a place to get regular massages.

I love the Bodywork Bistro and I would recommend it to anyone looking for some truly excellent bodywork!!! There are so many talented therapists there! I really recommend Thomas. I have worked with him for the past 1.5 years and he is an amazingly gifted healer. Thomas’ work is heart based and client centered, deep but gentle, and in tune with my body. I feel totally safe to release tension in my body as well as emotions that I have bottled up. (This is no small feat for me!)
It is healing on so many levels! I leave after a session with Thomas feeling so much lighter!!! He truly cares and that, I think, makes all the difference!!! Years of experience don’t hurt either! :) 5 stars for sure!

After driving my 1997 VW Jetta from San Francisco to Boulder in 25 hours my neck, shoulders, and lower back were really angry with me. I had a headache and could barely turn my head. So I turned to Unilocal to help me find a good body worker and found Bodywork Bistro. Scheduled a 60 minute table massage and arrived a bit early because I guess I was anxious for relief and don’t know Boulder too well. That gave me time to go on a guided tour, drink some water, and sit in the lounge where I used their wifi.
The massage I received from Laura Rose was truly amazing! Honestly… I’ve had my share of massage disappointments and picking a massage studio out of the blue didn’t give me a ton of hope but I was really impressed. So impressed that I ended up signing up for the platinum membership which is a great deal!
I’m already looking forward to my next visit :)

Love being able to walk in without an appointment and receive fabulous bodywork. They have saved my life on several occasions!

Having recently moved to Boulder from the East Coast I was desperate to find a reputable CMT to help undo the damage from all the packing and moving. I stumbled upon Bodywork Bistro and am so glad I did. It is more like a somewhat eclectic collection of independent therapists than it is a typical spa, but this is what gives it its charm. Everyone has a speciality and unique personality, and they are all extremely talented and qualified at their profession.
First, Dave the owner seems to run a great business with a warm and open atmosphere, and Victoria who often manages the front desk is intelligent and well travelled; simply delightful to chat with before a session.
You can walk in during business hours and enjoy any of an assortment of short-​to-​medium length chair or mat massages, make a reservation, or opt for a private room for a table massage for longer appointments. Due to the individual specialities of each therapist virtually every type of massage conceivable is available.
I personally prefer Allison who specializes in neuro-​muscular trigger point therapy, but I have also seen Ayla and Norell, the latter of whom has her own very distinctive opposing stroke technique which I like to call her yin/​yang method.
Bottom line: this place deserves multiple visits.

With stress mounting between summer school and full-​time work, my neck and shoulders were a mess. After waking up one morning feeling like I’d just hiked a 14er (or fallen down it, rather) I was fed up – I couldn’t take the tension and soreness and accompanying headache any longer, especially with a 12-​hour work day ahead of me. I made a 30 minute appointment with Kelly (a man) at Bodywork Bistro for my lunch break; I was able to do this online, and it was incredibly easy.
Kelly listened to exactly what I needed, and focused on my neck, shoulders, and upper back (though not exclusively). I started with at least 15 knots in between my shoulder blades — by the end of the 30 minutes, these were all gone. My neck was pain-​free, my headache had disappeared, I was completely relaxed, and I can’t wait to go back for my next appointment. I highly recommend this place!

Not only is the idea of a massage «bistro» fun and interesting, there are a handful of excellent massage therapists who work here. That said, some workers have more experience and are naturally better at intuiting what kind of massage work a person may want or need… Dave, the shop owner, is very intuitive and has a wonderful healing touch.

I really liked this place. I am no expert to having massages. I have only had one other one (professionally) in my life. We did have to wait over an hour, but that was ok because we left, came back, left again and came back was then able to get right in. By the point that we did get in we were out of time, so we could only get the 10 minute chair massage. It was VERY nice! So relaxing and great. I wish I would have had more time to do a longer one. Plus they have cute little names for their massages. You can pop in for an attitude adjustment, or some serenity now. Too cute.

Walk in and take off your clothes, and you don’t even have to set up an appointment.
Ok, I am not suggesting that you strip right there in the lobby, but you can seriously walk in, demand a full body private massage without an appointment, and you can get your own room, get naked and get rubbed. An on-​command rub down without any planning? Totally classic.
You can also slither into The Café of Life and get a chiropractic adjustment or a chair massage without an appointment. You don’t take your clothes off for that, but it is Boulder, so I am sure they have seen everything.
The layout and décor of the Body bistro is great and totally gay… And I mean that in the most complimenting way possible. You can definitely tell that one of the owners is gay, the layout and décor and style is just too good to be brought on by an excited and hip entrepreneur… I just feel sexual healing when I am in here… I feel relaxed and lonely… Wait a minute… Anyway, this gay man definitely knows how to touch our buttons… hmmmm
One of the best things about this business idea is that the chiropractors that I saw were there were hot, and I guess there are over 200 chiropractors that come in and out of the café, so you can test them all out!
This business is a genius of an idea, and I imagine a chain of this sort, like Massage Envy, will be a hit. The no appointment thing, the affordable prices, the nice layout and organic feel of the health café, and friendly staff who also have the hotness factory, make this business a winner in my poor posture book.
