Boulder Book Store

I don’t even know how to describe the AWESOMENESS that is this book store. Go. You won’t regret it. Tell your friends you won’t be meeting up for lunch, because you’ll be lost in complete unicorn-​pooping-​rainbow levels of bliss.

Really loved how organized everything was. Really cute and quaint. Easy to get around and plenty of space to move past people. Really liked their pet section, had a good selection. The science section however was pretty skimpy. Great register experience with a really nice sales girl to complete the trip!

You can’t survive for this long amidst the rampant gentrification of the once-​crazy Pearl Street Mall and not have a few tricks up your sleeve. This sprawling parquet-​floored wonder is a maze of pure awesomeness, and every turn and staircase draws you deeper in.
Pro tips: The used books are sprinkled in with the new books, the periodical section is a bit light, and if you don’t dig incense stay AWAY from the spirituality section haha. I’ve loved this place for years and will continue to return.

I love this bookstore so much. It looks cute and unassuming from Pearl Street, but once you enter you feel like you’re in an entirely different world. Three massive floors of books are designed to encourage wandering. On both of my visits I managed to discover used copies of books I had been searching for in near perfect condition. New books and used are mixed together and there are a large assortment of both. If you’re a reader you won’t want to miss this place.

A large store decent selection of general fiction and non fiction. A bit overpriced also if you are looking for odd or not popular books you will be hard pressed to find those here. Have found some great deals though worth checking out.

I have never been to different bookstore other than the different Barnes and Noble in Chicago so finding this beautiful gem made me real happy. We did not plan finding this bookstore, but once we went inside I fell in love with the bookstore and the smell of books. There were a lot of people and a lot of books and I just did not know where to go first. I was so lost but I was happily lost.
The selections include new and old books. I consult Good Reads when it comes to books and to my dismay the ISBN of the book is covered by their own code so I can’t seem to scan the book, I have to manually search for the book which was time consuming (I know right? First world problems).
I have found books that I have never seen in any B and N store. Their selection is very diverse (I looked at young lit mostly) and I found gay, lesbian, and trans books which made me really happy.
A must visit bookstore for book lovers like me.

Y’all know I can’t go to a new place and not check out the local book stores. When I read on Unilocal that this place has three — count ‘em THREE — floors, I had to go. Absolute must.
Boulder Book Store reminded me of Powell’s. I love Powell’s and would seriously move to Seattle just for that book store. Seriously. So I feel that’s the highest compliment I can give to Boulder. Three wonderful floors filled with so many words, begging you to discover them. Don’t you ever find it fascinating that with only 26 letters, we can create so many lovely combinations of words, thoughts, and ideas? Everything in this store was created with just those 26 letters. Pretty crazy.
I’m convinced that, like Powell’s, everyone can find something here. There’s just too many options for everybody to not find something. I found about a million somethings, but settled on one book and my boyfriend bought me the most adorable Pusheen mug. It is seriously the cutest thing.
They mix in used books with the new books, which I thought was great. I saw lots of sale tables, too. I like that they have a recommended wall and the top 25 best sellers in Boulder right by the cash registers. It can get a little crowded, but you can easily return to check it out when there’s fewer people.
They have chairs scattered throughout the store, but I didn’t get in trouble for sitting out of the way on the floor. I don’t know if they have a policy against it or anything, like at some places, but no one said anything to me.
If you want to spend some time getting lost in some wonderful books, this is the place to go. (And how could you not? Trust me. You’ll love it.) Not only can you lose yourself in the text, but there are so many rooms to explore. Just go. Seriously. It’s worth it.

Is it socially acceptable to live in a bookstore? Because I would move here.
I’ve never been inside a 3 story bookstore, and to be honest, I was overwhelmed (in the best way possible). Thankfully, the store is immaculate and very well organized. They have endless genres, bestsellers, and to my surprise, a very extensive sale section with tons of new and used books. The staff was busy, but also ready to help with any questions and quick with service when I was ready to check out. I could spend many more hours here!

Fantastic selection. Finally found a book I’ve been searching all over the country for today.

This is one of my favorite bookstores. It’s cute and cozy, nonetheless much more personable than your average Barnes&Noble. This is the kind of place I could find myself comfortably spending hours browsing. Great vibes all around.

This is an awesome place to go if you are in Boulder. Excellent selection and awesome gifts and such. Helpful staff, great prices and good vibes here. Highly recommend!

I just love this place, this is what a bookstore should be. The quaint feel and beautiful location make it a great treat to explore and find some new reading. I especially like the kids story time, as they make it a lovely event by bringing in characters from popular books. The staff are always courteous and I never leave here empty handed. I feel it is a great place to support as well, as bookstores are falling by the way side with the advent of online ordering. So go and check them out for your next read and help support this gem!

Way bigger than I thought with a good selection of used and new. Good service. Loved the building too (there’s a ballroom!). Good little children’s section too.

Very cool book store on Pearl Street. Great selection of books with lots of staff recommendations. Their used book selection was a bit more limited than I expected, but all in all, it’s a great place to grab a new read!

This is a great book store. I could hang out there for hours, just reading and perusing. A wonderful gateway into the magic of the written page.

Ahh, the Boulder Bookstore… what else can I say other than it’s a place I frequent regularly and can spend hours in. They have every book category imaginable and the store has 3 levels. You could seriously spend your whole day there. It’s pricier than buying online but it’s a local shop and you get instant gratification — what’s better than that!

Lovely store. It kept going and going and was surprisingly well lit for a book store. There were so many windows in the lit room up stairs and it was a lovely place to shop. I found a couple of random DFW books I hadn’t seen in a while, so points for that. The staff could not have been friendlier.
But if I can indulge one silly gripe: while I’m sensitive to, you know, our oppressively gendered, economically tyrannical, Eurocentric patriarchy and all that, why is there a giant wall of Shamanism and nothing by, say, Hegel, in (what I imagine is the derisively named) Western Philosophy section? That teeny, tiny, hidden bit of wall is mostly Marx, Slavoj Zizek, and, well, books with pictures.
Like I said: silly gripe, lovely store.

Cashier was most friendly. The place is like a mini maze, so spacious and decorative. Book lovers — you will spend more time than usual.

***It is nice being able to go to an independent bookstore, which is located on the popular shopping and dining district of Pearl Street in Downtown Boulder; they had nice Boulder magnets and a good variety of books; service was just okay and not as friendly as many local shops***
There are several parking structures nearby that do fill up; some (or maybe all of them) are free on (at least certain) weekends.

Local bookstores always have a unique old world feel to them. Lots of dark wood, narrow alley ways giving the gift of the written word, lots of fellow readers strolling the shelves looking for their next read. This place offers a Boulder community feel and houses stocked floor to ceiling shelves of new releases, new and used copies and all other varieties for your reading pleasure.
I’m sad to say that we were in and out this day and as such I didn’t get to enjoy all the floors of this elegant store but definitely plan on it on my future visit. This is a place where you need to allow for some time to browse, I could easily walk around for hours without noticing the time.
The people working here love their books and were even willing to help out when we were looking for a particular title and kept helping until we were able to find it.
