Me and my parents went to the Chautauqua Dining Hall last night, the food was great, we saw some deer (3). The server we had was on her first night, and she was really good, and the Mac ‘n Cheese I ordered was great!

Mind blown. We are so happy we tried this out on a random Sunday galvanting around town because we thoroughly enjoyed it. The white peach sangria and the rocky mountain mule were fantastic drinks to start with. Then we were served the apple butter cornbread — oh man, so good. It tasted like coffee cake! For our appetizer we had the zucchini basil mozzarella croquettes, which were so delicious we ate them within seconds of receiving them. Moist and flavorful! For our main dish, we had the wahoo fish grilled on lemon slices with a Tempe salad and lightly picked zucchini topped with a red pepper coulis sauce and arugula oil. YUM! So delcious. The prices aren’t bad either, which makes it even more awesome. Enjoy!

The two stars are for the scenery. We decided to have a family breakfast there over the weekend, which turned into quite an unpleasant morning after our food took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive and when it did, it was actually cold. Like, out of the freezer and put on a warm plate. The explanation we got (only after the food arrived) was that a wedding party had unexpectedly become larger in size– which means they prioritized the wedding party over the other guests? Next time, don’t seat a normal amount of patrons if you can’t handle serving warm French toast. Our bill was reduced by 30%, which was nice, but too little and WAY too late. The visit to this classic restaurant from my childhood will probably by last.

We came here for Mother’s Day. It’s a lovely building with a beautiful patio and a great view. Those items are the draw. The food is just OK. I had the tofu scramble with eggs instead of tofu because I love veggies but it was just average. Certainly something I could have made at home and probably better. It needed hot sauce and lots of it. Hubs had the burrito and he said it was OK. He didn’t eat most of the tortilla and it also needed tons of hot sauce. A few of my other dining companions had the tacos which sounded awesome but were really dry and needed– you guessed it– hot sauce. I had the potatoes on the side which were pretty good. The biscuit with the jam on the table was delicious.
We were dressed up so couldn’t hike off our breakfast but it’s a great opportunity to do so. It’s a nice place but don’t expect to be blown away by the food. Enjoy the scenery and atmosphere because that’s why you’re really there!

I’ve been really, really happy with the Dining Hall in the past. I’ve enjoyed the service and the food. I go fairly often but last night, they rented half of the space to a group of students from the CU Law School who were EXTREMELY loud. We got a booth on the bar side but it was still so hard to have a conversation. Then, at 7:00, the group moved into the bar area and were even louder. We asked several times if they could do anything but we were told that they were paying customers (as if everyone else wasn’t). They offered to give us the «Manager’s Discount» and free dessert, neither of which happened in the end. Extremely disappointed and pretty sure that if I were shouting and being that loud, I would have been asked to leave. I guess groups matter more than individual customers (almost all of us moved outside despite it being a bit chilly). They should have let us know when we made our reservation.

I’m really shocked at the reviews! I love the food, atmosphere, drinks… Brunch is fabulous! Happy hour is reasonable, if price is an issue. Service can be hit or miss… But I will admit, I tend to only come in the summer, when I can sit outside and enjoy the porch. I’ve never had food here I didn’t like…

I love this place! The food is great, the views are amazing, the staff is friendly and it has such a wonderful sense of history. My husband and I have eaten here many times. We love taking our of town guests here for breakfast, but we have also come for many dinners, especially when we see shows at the Chautauqua. Most recently, we planned on having our Thanksgiving dinner here, but our daughter was born on Thanksgiving morning. Luckily, a friend of ours picked up our dinner to go and delivered it to the hospital. The staff knew the circumstances and they packed us an extra big dinner. For two days we feasted on that delicious meal. I’ve always loved the Chautauqua dinning hall, but now I have an new reason to love it even more — what kind and generous service!

Solidly 3 stars. We sat on the patio on a perfectly lovely October afternoon (yes, I am in fact, writing this MONTHS later. Oops). If the weather is nice when you visit, sit outside. Do it.
The food was tasty. We had arancini which was an appetizer special. My boss got a delicious salad and I got the green chile burger without a bun. The best part? The fries. They were hot and crispy. Just like the heavens intended. YES.
The service was just ok but I’ll be honest — we were so enamored with the view of the flatirons from our table that we hardly noticed. This was a hard one — the view is hard to beat, the food was just alright. I imagine we’ll be back, if for nothing else, to enjoy a delightful nibble and sip with the best view in town.

How To Kill It When Visiting Chautauqua Dining Hall For Brunch:
1) Have Emma take care of you. She’s rad.
2) Claim a wrap-​around porch table against the rail. Views for days.
3) Order the tofu scramble ($ 9). Sheepishly ask Emma if you could ge… Have her tell you she’s happy to sub eggs for tofu, and actually, it’s better that way. (See #1)
4) Pondering the chai ($ 3.50)? Order the chai.
5) Feast on a filling, herbal tossing of eggs, mushrooms, blistered cherry tomatoes and peppers. I’ll even forgive — nay, applaud — that long, decorative chive placed atop the pile. It’s easier to remove.
6) Save room for the crispy, salty «home fries» served on the side. Exquisite!
7) Savor every sip of the pinnacle of chais. First refill is free!
8) Walk it off on the nearby Flatiron trails.
Now go forth and brunch, my child.

While looking for a new brunch place in Boulder, we decided to give the Dining Hall a try. There were 6 of us, and they did a nice job of putting us into a semi-​private area around a round table near the front.
Parking here is very difficult for brunch, plan on dropping off party members and walking for a little while.
Food here was ok, nothing too special, and they don’t give any «extras» with the food (my french toast, for example, was just toast and 1 pat of butter — I had to request syrup on the side, it costs more for real syrup too). Service was ok as well.
I wouldn’t say this is my number one place to go, but it is pretty and if you plan right, you can go right into a hike before/​after breakfast. Also, dress code is casual so no need to worry there and the fireplace is nice to warm up against in the winter chill.

A must do visit when in Boulder, dining at the foot of the flat irons and a nice loop hike!
On our visit we had a pretty good brunch here. Service was attentive, coffees refilled, fireplace ambiance on a snowy day with large picture windows overlooking the park. I felt very comfortable here and enjoyed our visit to this Boulder institution but hate to say I felt breakfast was just ‘average’ and I was bummed my potatoes were overcooked/​cold like they sat awhile. The croc Madame, however, was very tasty, the gravy/​crème used over the crunchy buttered sandwich was great and I loved all the flavorful ham stacked up. I think due to its country club feel, you expect more, wows… but food is a solid, A-​ok! the service and location still make it a must visit!

Fortunately for the rest of the diners in this lovely historic dining hall, our boisterous group of 6 sat in an alcove in what we dubbed the mushroom room since the paintings on the wall were of mushrooms. Our waitress said we were the funnest group she had served in a while and made many reappearances to check on us and laugh with us.
The historic wood structure sits on the edge of a pleasant hiking area at the base of the Rockies, and has a couple of fireplaces. We were there on a mild evening, but a little too cool to enjoy the outdoor tables, hence the mushroom room.
Their wine list is extensive, and after we enjoyed interesting cocktails like manhattans, and for me, a glass of prosecco, we shared a bottle of very good white wine.
The food — two weeks later, we are still reminiscing about the deliciousness of my trout with garlic mashed potatoes, and my husband’s dirty rice with red fish. Our friend’s birthday was celebrated with a large piece of dense, rich chocolate cake. Next time we are in Colorado, we are dining here!

Lovely old dining hall with nice ambiance. The food was a different story. We had a group of four on a Saturday night. The «Market Fish» was OK, however the roasted red peppers that came with it tasted like they came out of a jar. The Arugula salad with watermelon, feta and added Chicken, had four pea size pieces of watermelon and four tiny pieces of feta. The waiter forgot to add the tasteless chicken, which came out after and looked like it had seen better days.
The waiter mixed up the credit cards and we ended up signing the wrong tabs.
All around, not good.

An absolutely amazing location and building that anyone competent should be able to make a smashing success.
I like Three Leaf’s other restaurants, and they’ve operated this one long enough to have worked out the kinks … but no.
Service for a weekday lunch was pretty slow. The main issue was that two people in our group got burgers: one ordered Medium came out very rare, while the one ordered Medium-​Well came out hockey-​puck very well.

Love the food and ambiance at Chautauqua! Beautiful outdoor dining with a view of chatauqua park. Great food. A great playground for the kids nearby. And awesome hiking at the flatirons nearby. You can even rent a cute little cabin!
Parking can be rough – the lot fills up fast with park visitors and hikers, so leave enough time to park and walk from the local neighborhood. (5 – 10 mins)

There were 2 very good aspects to my recent dining experience at the Chautauqua Dining Hall. One was the chai… and the other was our waiter.
Unfortunately, these two good things do not redeem the rest of the experience. With this new restauranteur who has taken over food service at the Chautauqua, have come many changes, some very obvious and others more difficult to perceive or understand.
It is not for the public to figure those details out, anyway.
What’s wrong? The menu choices. The prices. The new décor. Some are matters of personal taste. Others aren’t so much.
The food is not very good, and is extremely overpriced for the portions and quality that one receives. That is the biggest problem.
I had already heard to avoid this restaurant since the new restauranteurs took over. This advice came from people whose opinions I respect. Should have listened.
Hope there can be improvement.
