Nurses great. Administrative staff terrible. After 4 days (asked 3 times to see her) never once saw case worker who was to inform us of transition issues for rehab for 92 year old mother. As result we had to search ourselves and made wrong decision if she can not be rehabbed; a likely outcome. She did call after we made decision and offered nothing more than sending paperwork; no advice.
Staff responsible for discharge never communicated with us. Spent 8 hrs waiting for discharge. Nurse did tell us at 2 pm that transport would be here at 3:30p. Too late for Primary staff at new facility to orient us and communicate unique issues.
Would not come here again due to lack of communication. They just sit at their desks!

I asked for an estimate for testing before I went. Received an estimate for about $ 2000, then billed over $ 5000. Requested an itemized bill and all they will provide is one line item.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

So we’ve waited over five weeks to receive the records for our newborn and we’ve yet to receive it. We’ve talked to at least three people about the records mix up. I still feel super uneasy that the mentally ill patient who just got out of prison whose records we received could have received our newborn son’s records with our address, name, etc even though they tried assured me that they didn’t send anything to the gentleman. I hope they notify that gentleman we received his records and admit to the screw up on their end to him. Lord knows, I would want to know.

My significant other had heart surgery here this week. Everyone on staff has been excellent, supportive, professional and thorough in monitoring and addressing his needs. Every Secretary, volunteer, nurse, PA, NP, respiratory staff, and the physicians have all been wonderful. They’ve explained care and procedures as well as follow up information in a manner we could both understand. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for how above and beyond the care and support has been. The gardens, labyrinth and art have been soothing as we’ve gone from ICU to West unit. Thank you, your staff sets a high standard!

My son broke his arm today, and I just have to write a review about how incredible the ER was. Especially a nurse named Chris (male) was amazing, and so great with kids. They got us in quickly and treated him so well. Everyone on staff was super nice and sympathetic. I also gave birth to my daughter here in 2012 and had an awesome experience in the maternity ward. Today I’m feeling so grateful to have such awesome medical care so close to home.

If you have a child, don’t take them to the ER. Go to Children’s hospital in Aurora or Broomfield. They aren’t set up to see children. I took my 2 year old with a case of Croup to the ER. They gave here the recommended treatment, but then stated that they wanted to «observe» her — but didn’t have the room to keep her. So, they told us that we need to go, by ambulance, to Aurora’s Children’s Hospital. The ambulance ride from Boulder to Aurora cost $ 5080. That’s right, that is more than it would cost my entire family to fly roundtrip to China. All in all, the hospital seemed more interested in racking up fees than actually providing effective treatment. In fact, this 12 hours of croup cost more than the 2 day hospital stay to birth the child.

Excellent care, service and treatment in ER. I would higly reccommend their services. I found myself in Boulder to help my daughter go thru college orientation… and found myself with acute bronchitis and fever. The staff, nurses and doctor treated me expertly and I was in/​out in half an hour… with proper meds and time to focus on my #1 priority — my daughter.

This is the pretty hospital. Lovely lounge, nice physician offices and beautiful campus. If you really find yourself in a pickle though, I would recommend going to a different hospital as this one isn’t for serious trauma or tricky medical conditions.

I had a horrible experience at Boulder Community Hospital a few years ago.
It started with an ear infection that i got treated at an urgent care center, they gave me medication that I had a severe allergic reaction to, so at the urging of my co-​workers I went to the hospital to check it out.
I had a skin rash all over my face, neck, and arms and was vomiting. I made a point to ask the nurse at the front desk how much the visit would cost me since I had NO health insurance (I couldn’t afford it working my $ 10/​hr job). She said and I quote, «You won’t have to pay anything, let’s just get you checked out!»
Little did I know she meant I didn’t have to pay for anything THAT DAY.
The doctor came in, looked at me, told me to stop taking the antibiotics I was prescribed (which I had already done DUH) and wrote me a prescription for my rash. He was literally in the room with me for less than 3 minutes.
A nurse came in after he left and told me that my total for visiting the ER was going to be around $ 600!!! SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. I explained to her what the front desk woman said to me about not having to pay… and the nurse in the room looked at me like I was nuts.
After many, many phone calls to the billing department… not only did BCH force me to pay $ 600 for the visit– the doctor charged me an extra $ 280 for his separate fee. I called his office/​receptionist to ask about the outrages fees and explained to her that he only saw me for 3 minutes… she sent me to collections! I was out almost $ 900 and paying that off for over a year!
Not only was the doctor incompetent and not helpful, the nurse was being tricky and flat out lied to me. If I knew of all the fees they would charge I would have left BCH immediately and returned to work and gotten over my allergic reaction on my own.
I got charged almost $ 900 to be told something I already knew… stop taking the antibiotics.
I now thankfully have health insurance, but BCH made me weary of doctors, nurses, and hospitals forever.

I’ve only been a patient at this hospital once and that was for a lactation consult. I have had many other experiences with this hospital that make it a very happy place for me.
I first heard about BCH from my sister who was planning on delivering there. After her tour of the hospital she raved about the facilities– queen sized beds in the recovery rooms, attached rooms to NICU rooms, views of the Flat Irons, etc, etc. I took my childbirth prep class here (private class) and really enjoyed it. It ended up being very useful because I went into labor later that night (although I delivered in Longmont since I was living there at the time). As I said I had a lactation consult here and was very pleased with it– they scheduled a 1.5−2hr block for me and I was able to have a great discussion with the LC before my baby woke up and didn’t feel pressured on time (big difference from my experience at Longmont).
I now go to BCH on a weekly basis as I attend the Mom and Baby Yoga class they offer, and I stay for lunch at their wonderful cafeteria (cheap and delicious food). They offer so many events for new mothers– Weekly Breastfeeding Club, New Moms Group, Yoga, New Moms Tea (which I still need to try).
BCH is a fantastic hospital!
