These lady’s know how to go above and beyond… I have a special wedding project to do and needed some advisement to make it happen and Silvia stepped up. She Listened and delivered without hesitation. This turned out to be a custom deal and Mary said they usually didn’t do this but made an exception and put a crew together to get me taken care of and out the door in no time flat! 6– 17 yard cuts, at a great price and some of the best customer service I have ever received. This will be my go to store when projects and craft materials are needed, customer for life and will send everyone I know! Thank again to all the staff for going above and beyond when you didn’t have to… Picture to follow after wedding!

Update your hours on your website/​Google!!! It says 8am-​9pm on Google, but they are actually open at 9am. I walked two miles in the snow for thread for a project that had a deadline, only to be very disappointed to see the hours of operation sign on the locked door did not match what Google told me. FAIL.

I have always liked shopping at Joann, but I have to say that today’s experience is making me choose michaels Instead in the future. I get that there are many older employees but they were all incredibly kid unfriendly! I have two toddlers and we were looking for craft supplies and while shopping they we were met with many sneers and snark looks rather than friendly salespeople. When checking out the woman at the register said not a word to me while ringing me up. Just watched my children as they played behind me. The only thing she said was my total and then said «boy you have your hands full» no thank you. No hi how are you. Nothing but unfriendly judgment. They do sell children’s craft supplies and even if they didn’t try need to be more friendly regardless.

I went here on the day I was leaving looking for a zipper to replace the one the airlines had somehow broken on my suitcases. I walked in and asked where the zippers are. The person had no idea they even sold zipper replacements/​pulls. I was handed off to someone else, and then again to someone else. Eventually I was put with «the» person that knew what I was talking about. She tried to sell me a 5 pack of full zippers for $ 15, then I reminded her I only need the pull. A store that has millions of other weird crafty items has 2 choices for replacement zipper pulls. One was quite feminine and flowery, the other was a little weak looking but I was assured it would work.
Needless to say, I tried to put the replacements on my luggage, one broke right away, the other bent a minute later, without even leaving my house both of them had broken. I had thrown the receipt in the trash, so I ran out, not lie the trash truck was pulling off.
I went to return it today, 5 days after the purchase. After waiting I was informed that since I don’t have a receipt, they will only give me 50% back since, «I might have used a 50% off coupon». I tried to show her my credit card purchases on my phone, but she was unamused. Needless to say, this was a $ 2.70 purchase, not like I was trying to return a $ 500 sewing machine or something… I can’t believe I can go to target and return something without a receipt and they can look the purchase up with my card, or a store credit if I used cash.
I won’t return, and if you’re not a crafter I’d suggest the same, their antiquated policies and lack of customer care make it not worth the time.

I’ve been to Jo-​Anns a few times now; always find what I am looking for and the staff is pretty helpful. There are great bargains, especially with the coupons. I came to Boulder from Sedona AZ, finding anything in that area requires at least an hour’s drive, so I’m pretty delighted with this store being well stocked and in biking distance.
(Perhaps I’m just starved for civilization and because of my previous home everything seems good, but, IMHO this is a great store.)

This place is where nightmares come from.
I just got a sewing machine and I’ve been working with a 9 year old girl on some projects. We are beginners to say the least and this little girl is so jacked on what she’s making.
Our first experience we asked a question and the saleswomen hastily pointed to the back of the store and said that what we needed was somewhere over there. Are you for real? We are the only people in the store, you could walk is there.
The second time we braved the store, I was dreading the horrible customer service. Who knew it could be worse. The young girl was trying to tell Katie (the person cutting the fabric) about what she’s done. Katie completely ignored the girl and looked like she was going to stab me.
Perhaps this store needs to teach their workers a little something about customer service.
The only reason why I’m giving two stars is because the selection is pretty decent and the register people are pretty good about telling you there are coupons on the app.
I will do anything to avoid this hostile environment!

Been living at this place lately! They always have great deals (at least on the things I buy) PLUS if you download their app, they have even more coupons and deals!
It’s clean, has a ton of merchandise to look at which is why I feel like I could spend days here. I come to Jo-​Anns for all of my craft needs!

Tiniest Jo-Ann’s I’ve ever been to with a horrible selection. Came looking for soft yarn for a scarf but will have to go to a diff one. If my friend hadn’t brought me here I would have no idea it’s even here.

Although I tend to shop here a lot by default, I really don’t appreciate the lack of customer service, the often hokey & limited selection, the disingenuous coupon system, and the grouchy people who work there. The upside is that you can get scissors, sewing supplies, and whatnot.

This isn’t the worst JoAnn’s I’ve been to, but that’s mainly because the aisles are farther apart, they keep the floor cleared, and there’s no weird, funky smell. Selection is kind of minimal in terms of decorative pieces and floral. I walked back and forth for a minute or two thinking I was missing an aisle of beads, but no, their selection really is that tiny. Still, it’s good for basics, and of course they have some fantastic sales. I’m just grateful to have one this close.
It’s certainly the weirdest JoAnn’s I’ve been in, and I’ve finally come to the conclusion that it’s the customers. If you like to eavesdrop on people, this is your place, because you can hear conversations all the way across the store. And there are some bizarre conversations. A lot of it is totally inane chatter by groups of young people that make me wonder if they’re just talking to make noise, because there’s certainly no point to their conversation.
So, if you do shop here, don’t have any private conversations.

I stopped into Joann to peruse their bead selection. This store is very clean and has lots of room, but I was slightly disappointed with their selection. The staff were few but were always busy helping customers with questions about fabric or demonstration classes they held. The beads here are very basic. It is a great place to buy clasps, chains, etc on the cheap. I wouldn’t expect to find any one-​of-​a-​kind beads here. You should go to Nomad for that.

I occasionally need sewing items and do check here. I get certain basics here though there is a better place in Boulder for really nice fabrics. Some staff are very helpful but it is often difficult to get someone.
The biggest flaw in their structure is the lack of regular staff at the checkout registers.
This store also has as much floor space dedicated to craft supplies and novelty goods as it does to fabric and sewing supplies. The store is pretty messy most of the time.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to another Jo-Ann’s but personally I’m pretty impressed with the stock here because it has everything I need. First of all, I absolutely LOVE the coupons! I didn’t know about them for the longest time and then I finally heard someone talking about how they downloaded the app and so I did the same and I’ve been reveling in the joy ever since.
We stop here for craft supplies on a regular basis as well as discount decorations and the odd piece of fabric here and there. But mostly for the crafts, which when combined with couponing, can be quite affordable. I’ve had good service from everyone and have been happy with my Jo-Ann’s experience thus far!

2012 Review #236: Gotta say, this is not an overly impressive store. I had gone to a Lakewood location and picked up some things, but then realized I needed some other items that the Lakewood store had carried. Seeing as how I work in Boulder and had a free hour, I thought I’d stop by this Joann’s.
Now, I don’t know if Joann’s are like other franchises or chains, like Michael’s, where each store is identical, or a mirror imagine, but Joann’s all seem to be set up totally differently. This one was totally different and there weren’t signs pointing out where certain supplies were. I was looking for an item that was behind the counter at the Lakewood store, and could not find it anywhere. I made 3 laps of the store in search of an employee on the floor. The only one I found was actually no longer working, and walking the store in her uniform, shopping. I finally asked the employee at the fabric counter and she did help me, but why not just label the aisles effectively?
Every time I go to the counter they ask me if I have «the coupon» and I say no and then ask if I can get access to it, and somehow I can’t. There are some supplies here I like, but there are just some things that they don’t have that seem so simple, like knit fabric in any color that isn’t primary, green, or black. I’m sure that’s not this individual store’s problem, but it doesn’t make their list of issues any shorter. The employees are at least helpful but it’s not enough to turn this all the way around. It’s the only fabric store for about 30 miles though, so, Boulderites are a bit out of luck.

I was extreamly disapointed in the store. The amount of fabric looks to be about the same as in the other store. Crafts seems to be what they want to concentrae on and anyone who sews still has to go to Boulder or Denver. The check out is a joke. Can anyone say return desk at Target.
All and all I would go there if I had to, but I would not look forward to it.

I too dislike Jo-​Ann Fabrics and crafts. The craft section is pretty good, but the fabric side is just awful!
This is Boulder for heck’s sake! Where are the high end fabrics, the organic fabrics, the truly trendy materials?
And the people that work here often seem so grumpy, and usually unhelpful too. It’s often hard to locate anyone to help you or find one who even knows where anything is. The customers in the store are more helpful than the employees.
Just yesterday evening (4÷6÷11), I was looking for some heavy duty cloth for an aisle runner for my daughter’s outdoor wedding. I had pulled a roll of material that was close to what I was looking for and gone to the cutting table to speak with the woman there about it. I told her this wasn’t really what I want, and explained to her what I was looking for. She came out from behind the counter to help me locate other options. We found one that was about 95% of what I wanted, so I decided to go for it.
I pulled the full bolt of neutral duck cloth off the shelf. Because it was so heavy (I’m dealing with a shoulder issue at the moment), I told the woman that I was setting it on the edge of the cutting table while I went to find some ribbon. She acknowledged me with a solid look and a nod that she understood me.
When I came back, the cloth bolt had been moved to a pile for reshelving. However, when I went over to get the bolt again and stand in line to have it measured (I needed 10 yards, which was the full bolt as it happened), another store employee, a man, took it from me. I mean he literally grabbed it out of my hands!
Excuse me, but you don’t treat customers like this! NOT EVER! When I said to him, «This is mine. I had it laying on the cutting table over there just a couple of minutes ago while I went to get my ribbon» (pointing to the location I had put it down), he claimed it was his and he had pulled it off the shelf for a call-​in order. I called him out on this immediately and said to just ask the other woman (moving my hand to indicate the same woman who was then helping another customer), the one who had helped me find it and saw me put it on the cutting table. Of course, she could hear me as I was standing directly in front of her, but she acted as though she were deaf, saying nothing and avoided eye contact with him and me.
More conversation ensued and then I noticed another bolt of cloth lying on the cutting table that was even nicer than what I had put there myself. I asked her about that and told me what it was. I decided that if the male employee so badly needed the duct cloth, then I wasn’t going to fight him over it. I would get this other stuff if I could. But, as it turned out, there wasn’t enough of the other stuff. SO then I asked if there was more in another Jo-​Ann store or could it be ordered.
After telling me it could be ordered and in the store in 2 weeks, I started to order it, but then it seemed the woman became confused and the whole process of placing the order was too much for her to handle. I was so frustrated myself by then that I canceled the order and left without buying anything.
I won’t be going back to Jo-​Ann Fabrics ever again.

I generally dislike Jo-​Anns. Much in the same way I dislike Walmart. But in all honesty, I consider this store the 9^th circle of hell.
Apparently there is no other fabric store in Boulder (!!!), so when I can’t haul myself down to an independent store in Denver, I end up here. Yes, they have the basics, a small (and boring) selection of patterns, tacky fleece patterns for college girls who need a quick costume, and cheapo holiday wares.
But, seriously, not only is this place incredibly disorganized, dirty, falling apart. but the staff doesn’t really know what they’re talking about. Not to mention the absurdity of their promotional «sales», which require coupons be printed from your home computer, and only discount the things you didn’t really want to buy anyway. Gah.
Let’s open our own craft/​sewing store in Boulder with good olé’ uppity Boulder quality. Who’s with me???
