Since 1995, Renaissance Adventures has offered camps and birthday parties in Adventure Quest, an outdoor, theatrical, high-​energy game designed to develop self-​esteem, team-​building, and creative problem-​solving skills. The kids are the heroes of an incredibly fun and dynamic quest, working together in a mythical and magical world to overcome interesting challenges, solve mystifying riddles, brainstorm unique solutions to puzzling dilemmas, and swashbuckle with foes using foam swords.

History

Established in 1995.

Renaissance Adventures was founded by Mark Hoge, an Eagle Scout and summer camp veteran. He began running birthday parties and summer day programs in Boulder, Colorado since 1995. Since then, we have run various programs across the Colorado Front Range and into other states. Our Adventure Quest game system is a unique blend of roleplaying rules, live-​action combat, and experiential education. Adventure Quest has been played across the United States, Canada, and even across the seas into the Realms Beyond! We have designed our own brand of foam swords called Swashers, which we have found to be the coolest, safest, and most durable «boffer» style sports equipment anywhere.

Business Owner

Mark Hoge, the director and founder of Renaissance Adventures, has been leading storytelling, acting, dance, outdoor games, nature activities, swordmanship and interactive quests with children and teens since 1981. As a child and teen, Mark attended creative arts camps with his mother and grandmother. Mark began leadership training with the Boy Scouts and as an Eagle Scout. In the eighties he spent eight full summers teaching at summer camps. He has directed full-​length summer camps every year since 1990, and has led Adventure Quest classes in public and private schools since the beginning of 1995. Extensive experience in psychology, improvisational theater and storytelling, hand-​in-​hand with a passion to discover ways to engage and empower children, has given birth to the unique and effective teaching tool of Adventure Quest. Mark has brought together a fine staff of teachers with whom he has co-​created the high-​quality innovative company that Renaissance Adventures is today.
