Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers

My older brother was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, and has been attending chemo treatment here since. The journey itself has been extremely hard, and I can’t imagine having gone through it without such a wonderful place and a wonderful staff. Everyone we met was absolutely amazing. Deb at the front desk was always a pleasure to see, and was such a big support system for my brother and my family. The various nurses and technicians were superb as well. They took the time to acquaint themselves with us and made even the hardest visits bearable. I am pleased with the services we experienced, and extremely thankful for everyone we met!

I have been coming to RMCC for years now, ever since my primary doctor discovered a blood abnormality during a routine checkup. It was kind of scary, being sent to a cancer center, but it turns out they have great hematologists on staff (which I understand is important in the cancer treatment process). Several tests later, it turns out I’m fine, just have abnormally low blood platelets. I still go in for routine checks just to make sure, and every time the staff is friendly and professional (and remembers me, which I think is huge in the medical profession) and I always feel welcomed and at ease. Granted they see some pretty rough cases here so I’m pretty minor by comparison, but it’s just nice to feel taken care of. I obviously can’t speak to the cancer treatment itself, but I would highly recommend this place solely based on the care I have received from the staff (and Dr. Sitarik specially), and the top notch facilities. (Plus you can look out at the flatirons while you’re in the waiting room… that’s tough to beat.)
As an added benefit, they are rolling out an online system where you can gain easy access to your records, things like lab results, diagnoses, etc.
All in all, worth the drive to boulder for the high level of service and care. Recommended.

This is a poorly run organization. The doctors seem competent and caring but the front office staff is unprofessional and untrained. The scheduling staff is incompetent and dishonest. Find an alternative, this organization sucks.

In August 2010, my sister was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. We initially came here because everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, recommended Dr Fox at neighboring Alpine Surgery and then RMCC for follow-​up. Because my sister’s cancer was further progressed than initially thought and she’s a singer, Dr Fox actually referred us to the Anschutz medical campus, which specializes in thyroid cancer and has a surgeon on staff who is one of the best thyroid surgeons in the world. The fact that they sent us somewhere else, to me, says a lot about the quality of patient care here! They really care about YOUR recovery!
In late January, we returned to see Dr Fox when my grandmother’s mammogram results were suspicious. She has early-​stage breast cancer, and decided on a lumpectomy and radiation. The surgery went great and she healed quickly, which is amazing considering that the cancer was more progressed than expected and required more extensive surgery.
I accompanied her to every appointment, and I can honestly say that every doctor has been amazing. They have all taken the time to answer any and all questions, which has occasionally led to 45 minute appointments between the two of us. I’m a molecular biologist, and I really appreciated the journal articles each doctor recommended/​sent me via e-​mail. I would feel comfortable calling any of her doctors at any moment if I had a question, and I don’t think I’ve ever been able to say that about any medical professional before!
My grandfather died of prostate cancer, so my grandmother was very upset by the word and had trouble moving past it. She’s going to be fine, but that’s what they told grandpa. The fact that all these doctors have taken the time to actually explain the statistics, and what the numbers actually mean, has been extremely helpful. She actually calmed down and, within a week of the surgery, had moved on to the place of, «this is an inconvenience, not a death sentence.» Hooray!
The entire staff at RMCC is outgoing and eager to help. Everyone is chatty with my talkative grandmother, and they even remember details from their short chats and ask her follow up questions the next time we see them! The facilities are beautiful, with comfortable waiting spaces including little nooks I can hide out in with my book during her treatments. It feels more like a fancy hotel lobby than a medical waiting room!
Statistically speaking, about half of us will get cancer during our lifetimes. If I do, I hope I’m lucky enough to get the quality of care that my grandmother is getting at RMCC!
