History

Established in 1979.

SSA firm owner and principal architect Stephen Sparn, AIA, has been practicing architecture since his graduation from the University of Colorado in 1968. His private practice, which began in 1975, has consisted of 50% single family residential, 25% multi-​family, and 25% commercial-​retail. Throughout the years Mr. Sparn and his firm, SSArchitects, has been committed to providing all clients with services that thoroughly explore and develop each project’s potential. From initial meetings and programming through construction documents, construction management and final turnover, SSA recognizes that each client’s requirements and project goals deserve decisions that provide the most thoughtful and comprehensive long-​term solutions. This approach, coupled with our unique ability to get projects through complex city and county entitlement processes, has helped us grow our business and receive many referrals from satisfied clients over the years.

Since 1975, Stephen has applied a consistent philosophy of architectural design focused upon meeting the needs and goals of his clients. The result is a wide variety of successful projects that fit beautifully into their surroundings and are truly enjoyed by the people who live or work within. The success of his Architecture business is due in part to Stephen’s hard work in putting together a multi-​disciplined team. Stephen inspires his team to bring their ‘A’ game to work each day which maintains and strengthens the philosophy he has worked hard to cultivate. Stephen has shown community leadership as past chair of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and past president of Architects & Planners of Boulder. He has served on the Board of the Boulder Energy Conservation Center and The Dairy Center for the Arts and has performed pro bono work for Habitat for Humanity of Boulder and The Dairy.
