We have a comprehensive and complete range of mechanical services available to meet all your maintenance and repair requirements. We offer pre-​purchase inspections, to be sure you’re buying a quality Subaru. We also have a free 30 point inspection for your first visit to us here at Super Rupair and we also offer this service with your oil change. We offer free shuttle rides in and around Boulder when your car is getting serviced with us along with the option of a bus pass. We have low cost rental cars available with your car’s repairs. If you damage your car and want to sell it we may offer you a damaged purchase program, please enquire.

We can E-​mail progress reports of your car which include repair photos as they happen if so requested. We have very friendly staff and welcome you to stop by and introduce yourself. We know that most people love their cars especially our customers, so its is our policy to take the absolute best care of your car throughout the repair.

Established in 1979.

Super Rupair is your one-​stop Subaru center for service, parts and used Subaru’s for sale. We are the nation’s largest independent Subaru auto repair shop. We work on and sell only one brand of car, that’s Subaru! Because we only work with Subaru’s we really know them inside and out. Most independent auto repair shops service a wide variety of cars, as many as 30 different brands. That means they spread their experience and resources out among 100′s of different vehicles. Being a specialist means we are laser-​focused on Subaru’s. All of our experience, training, technical resources, parts inventory and equipment is chosen for your Subaru brand of vehicle only. This gives you great benefit. You save money, you save time and you get much more peace of mind compared to other independents and Subaru dealerships. We also keep a great stock of new and used Subaru parts on hand. In fact, each week we get in a used Subaru that we use for parts.

I got my Air Frame and Powerplant License to work on airplanes in 1978. I became lead technician for Star Airways and then later became Chief inspector for Colorado Airways. In 1981 I met Joel Cox who owned Super Ru in Denver. Joel was developing a conversion kit to install Subaru engines into experimental aircraft. I went to work for Joel in 1981 and later that year Joel gave me the Subaru repair side of his buisness. I then moved it to Boulder in 1981. My favorite past time is traveling by motorcycles.

I took my car in last year for a «new» alternator, said alternator failed a year later. When I took it back the guys at the desk were helpful but not in helping me replace the alternator. I asked how much to replace again, they said 3 hours ($ 500 with parts and labor). I decided to take on this monumental task for myself with a limited tool kit and good old fashioned intuition.
24 minutes later (seriously 24 minutes I timed it) I had a new alternator installed and ready to go with no issues ($ 125). Probably one of the easiest things I have ever done with a car, the hardest part was not dropping a bolt behind a radiator (which I did like an idiot but I won’t count that 15 minute mistake since technically it was not associate with the alternator).
I like them, I will use them for bigger items (if my engine ever blows) but «3 HOURS» and it took a novice only 24 minutes!!! I dont like that, I dont think that that is fair to the consumer and most people will never know because most people didnt have kick ass grandfathers to teach them how to believe that anything is possible.
Again, 3 hours for a pro and 24 minute for a novice!!! After this incident I think I will start shopping around for new mechanics.

They are always helpful and honest with me. I’ve been taking my car since 2005. I had a brake and a low tire pressure lights issues, so brought it in about a week ago. The issues were caused by a major accident by a previous owner, which I didn’t know that much about. The Subaru repair explained to me throughly and eased my mind. I ended up leaving my car there over night, but they let me use their rent-​a-​car ($ 15 per day) which they waved the fee at the end. My car drives so much better and feels like a brand new! I totally recommend this place!

Left our car there to have new tires put on. We wanted to take the old tires away with us since they had under 20,000 miles on them and were rated for 50,000. The tires were in good shape and could have been given to someone with a two wheel drive car but they «shredded our tires» without checking with us first. The situation didn’t feel right.
On top of this we received a call the next day saying that someone ran into our car in their lot. They did nothing, offered no help or support for us. They were very quick to offer help for the person who hit us saying they would do a fix and charge $ 200 dollars for it. Well we wanted a second opinion after feeling that we were taken on our tires and received a quote for around $ 650 to get it fixed.
Long story short we took our car in to get work done and left with it damaged and received nothing for the inconvenience. It cost us money to have our car depreciate in value under their care and service. Very poor customer service from such a big named local shop. Will not recommend this shop to anyone in the future.

I have had so many issues with my Subaru and this company came highly HIGHLY recommended to me so I decided to give them a shot.
Driving my Subaru, something just didn’t feel right. There was no check engine light, but it didn’t seem right. I took my car in and they seemed a bit confused on why I would bring it in on a hunch. Tell told me it would be $ 50 to look at it and I said that was fine I just needed to make sure everything was fine. They came back and said everything was fine.
3 months later I had a catalytic converter go bad. Okay, I understand that could be missed (I did tell the guy I had been having issues with my catalytic converter so wouldn’t his cue be to really check them?) I thought, maybe it was just an honest mistake.
I found out today that they missed my lower ball joint going bad. The mechanic I took it to today said they’ve been bad for quite some time and they could have failed at any moment.
I’m really starting to believe they just pocketed my $ 50 and didn’t even bother to look at my car.

I love the honesty and quality here. I know they knew my car because it’s a Subaru repair shop. The man I worked with, Bob, was very blunt and honest with me which I like when dealing with cars. He flat out said he would not work on my car because it would cost more to fix it than it was worth and while that’s not good news, it’s better than getting taken advantage of.

I love my auto shop. I would argue they are the best in Boulder. With great customer service, professional staff, and very good car work, I always leave satisfied. My car purrs whenever it leaves this place! I believe in the quality of work done here and find them to be very honest and reliable.

Took my Outback in to have window motor replaced. The folks at Super Rupair were easy to work with and found me used parts which resulted in me getting a much better deal than I was quoted anywhere else (by about $ 100). They also alerted me to a serious problem with my radiator hose, potentially saving me a hefty repair bill in the future. Mike in the service department was especially pleasant, and patiently explained all the issues they found and really left a good impression. I was really happy with their shuttle service, as both my drivers were safe, courteous, and made the experience as enjoyable as possible. I will definitely take my car here next time it needs service.

I’ve had positive experiences with Super Rupair in the past, but my most recent experience was not good. I made an appointment online to take my car in for an oil change and 30 point inspection and to try to diagnose a couple of problems my car was having. I arrived at 9:45am for my 10:00am appointment. The guy who checked me in said my car should be done by the afternoon if not earlier. It ended up being 7 hours before my car was ready, which was something I was not prepared for especially since I made an appointment. I walked around for a while and came back around 12:30pm and saw my car had been moved, so I figured they had already finished but hadn’t yet called me. I waited until about 2:00pm and asked if my car was done and the guy said they still needed to pull it in and do the 30 point inspection and that they would do that in a minute. An HOUR later, they finally pulled my car in and began the inspection. While the services they did seemed fine, I would have really appreciated them being honest about how long they were going to take before actually looking at my car. I feel like I shouldn’t have even bothered making an appointment.

After talking to both Aaron and Gary about the error that had been made they have me convinced it was not intentional. For that reason I have taken my vehicle back to them for service. I was pleased with the service performed and their genuine response to the error which was made on my first visit. My car needs additional preventative maintenance so I will be taking it back to Super Rupair soon.

The people here are very nice, and they do have a lot of used parts, which makes fixing your car pretty simple.
That said, I’ve gone to them on 2 occasions where they quoted me fixes of $ 1300 and $ 2000. Not having that kind of money, I went to get a second opinion. The first time I found that the problem could be fixed with a $ 10 bottle of power steering fluid (and this was 4 years ago, problem never came back) and the mechanic I went to even put it in for me for free. The next problem I found could be fixed for $ 210, a tenth of what super rupair quoted me. I really like them, and I love subarus so I want to like them, but I just can’t, when twice already I have found that they were either a) lying to me about other possible and cheaper solutions or b) weren’t aware of the other ways to fix my problems.

My Impreza was just due for it’s 30,000 mile service, which was nearly $ 500 at the dealership. I called several places around Boulder and was quoted $ 420 by Super Rupair. I ended up paying $ 245 for the service because they didn’t replace or fix things that didn’t need to be replaced. Great experience overall and they were open and honest with me. As long as their prices are competitive, I’ll be taking my Suby back.

I don’t write positive (or negative) reviews unless I feel a place has really earned it. This is probably a little overdue, as Super Rupair has taken excellent care of me ever since I started bringing my 2006 Outback here about two years ago. They have always been honest and are usually well below what other repair shops have quoted me. For example, I once took my car into another auto shop in town, who told me that I had an important part failing on both sides of my car. They quoted me $ 600. Feeling a little suspicious, I brought my car into Super Rupair, and without giving them any specifics, just asked that they take a quick look at it. Within half an hour, they had told me I indeed did have a part that was failing… but only on ONE side of my car. My price was $ 150.
Most recently, I brought my poor car in to get it looked at for a flashing check engine light, brake rotors, and a burnt out headlight bulb. Although there was quite a bit wrong with it, they were upfront with me about the most important issues after I told them I was tight on money. They also got me in the same day I called, had the car back to me midday the next day, and even helped me out on the cost of a few minor things (like an oil change, air filter, inspection, etc). Both Trent and Kirby, as well as everyone I spoke to in person, were courteous, timely, and straightforward with me throughout the entire process. As a young woman, and a broke, recent college grad, I really appreciated every effort they made. As long as I live in the Boulder area, I will never take my Subaru anywhere else.

The best auto shop I have been to yet. They gave me an accurate quote which was followed to the «T», called me 3 different times during the day to report on specific issues I had requested them to investigate, and recommended fixes appropriate to the condition of the car and my driving style. At one point, they actually talked me out of spending money on a specific item. Service was superb and communication was excellent. This is how a well-​oiled machine works, and this shop runs on full synthetic!

I love these guys. They’ve serviced my Outback for about 7 years, and I always feel like they fix exactly what’s wrong, and only what’s wrong. They always call with a quote before they do any work, and they always take time to explain what’s wrong and why it needs to be fixed. And if I decide to hold off on a suggested repair, they’re no pressure about it.
They do a high-​volume business there, and I think that the number of customers there at the end of the day to pick up their vehicles is a testament to their excellent work.

The owner wrote me again, and I do want to share a couple key points from that exchange:
The guy who I dealt with was fired, thankfully, so hopefully no other women out there will experience this sort of treatment. Apparently I was not the only women he treated like crap and he had a history of being more honest to male costumers. His attitude is the biggest reason I can only give them two stars, and since I have been assured that he is gone I will move it up to three. Had anyone communicated as well with me as the owner has been now, I would have had a much different experience!
Also, they use Subaru’s own brake parts, which are more expensive than those offered at brake-​only shops. I agree with the owner that car manufacturers make higher quality, longer-​lasting parts for their own cars BUT as a full-​time student and part-​time minimum wage worker three years ago I couldn’t afford the difference. Obviously my biggest issue was that the guy handling my repairs was more interested in getting me to do all the repairs at once and with him than helping me find a cost-​effective solution, and had he listened to me he would have saved me $ 25 by not checking a button I just didn’t know existed!
I will not be bringing my car back to this shop, but to be fair I live in Golden now and it would be extremely inconvenient for me to give them a second chance. I do appreciate the owner’s concern for how I was treated, I just wish I had filed a complaint in a timely manner (I was extremely short on time, energy, and cash when this all happened).

Very friendly, knowledgeable staff! And just about as honest as you can get (for a car shop). Offered to do a very expensive repair with quality (and warrantied) used parts.
The only downside to Super Rupair is the location. But, if you can take the time, it’s a nice bike ride out/​back on the city bike paths! Or I hear, they have loaner cars.
If you own a Subaru, you must go here. There’s no better place in Boulder!

Took my subaru up here for a check engine light problem. They seemed honest and they definitely know subarus. They did try to sell me the old transmission flush but then, what mechanic doesn’t.
