If you’ve never tried pole dancing before, or you’re a seasoned pro looking for a Boulder studio, this is the place to go. Everyone is so supportive! Student showcases are a great opportunity to put a routine together and show everyone what you’re learning. There are competitions and people of every skill level and body type. Classes are held in a private room in the back of apex movement. If you’re curious at all, give it a shot!

First off, if you have never done pole dancing before, you have to try it! It’s not like stripping at all. More like a mixture of acrobatics and dancing. Go check out Youtube videos on pole dancing championships. I am not an athletic person and I have no body awareness, but after that first class, I was hooked. Sign up for one of their Intro classes. You’ll get a great work out and you won’t even realize how hard you worked until the next day. If you want to pole because you want a really hard workout, this isn’t the class for you(at least not until you test out of the Beginner level). But if you want to do something fun and challenging, this is it! I’ve been taking classes with Vertical Fusion for ~3 months at the Boulder and Longmont studios. The Boulder studio is confusing at first because it’s located in the back of Apex Movement. The Boulder studio is large and have plenty of room for a class of 8 – 10. The Longmont studio is smaller for ideally 5 – 6. Both are closed off to protect the privacy of everyone in class. Most of the other students have been women, but I’ve seen a few men welcome, too! They also have teenager friendly classes for students 13 – 17. Also each instructor’s style is different. Some are more focused on dancing. Some are more focused on form. Some like to bring sexy into the moves. Mostly mine have been patient because I’m slow to learn with anything athletic. The ones who’ve been teaching and dancing longer are better, but the owner never places an instructor in a class that they can’t confidently teach. I attend 1 class a week. I’d love to attend more, but I’m on a budget and it costs $ 15-$ 20 a class. It’s a little pricy for me but that’s really comparable to other fitness classes. What really takes this place to 5 stars is the owner, Melanie. She is really committed to her business and is very customer oriented. I’ve had more than my fair share of billing issues and Melanie always worked with me no questions asked. When I’ve talked to the other students about any issues they’ve had with billing(missing a class, rescheduling, etc.) Melanie has always been very helpful and flexible with them too. Melanie also scheduled an additional 7th class in a 6-week series so some of her students who had to miss one when a workshop took the regular time slot could make up the class and get their money’s worth. The best part is that my instructor told Melanie that I planned on retaking the beginner series(I’m really uncoordinated) so she called me and the other women in my class to schedule the next series for us. I think the only problem I ever had with the studio is some mixed messages on how testing out worked. I was taking Intro/Beginner classes for a few weeks not realizing that those classes are only going to cover a small portion of what you need to know to test out of Beginner. I think part of that confusion was that the instructor was inexperienced compared to others I’ve taken classes with.
