John J. McGuirk & Associates, Inc. is an independent insurance agency founded in 1987 to serve the insurance needs of residents and businesses in Prince Georges, Montgomery, Howard and Anne Arundel, St. Mary’s and Charles counties specifically, and the Washington Metro Area in general.
We are licensed to do business in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Delaware, West Virginia and North Carolina, and our Insurance Partners are some of the best National and regional insurance carriers in the business.
As An independent insurance agency, our goal is to provide you with the best insurance products available through our agency partners at a fair price. We are dedicated to working hard to provide a trusted relationship with our customers.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
John J. McGuirk came to the Washington D.C. area from New Jersey to attend the University of Maryland. Upon graduation with a BS Degree in Business Administration, he joined the Travelers Insurance Company in April 1968. John spent 5 years with the Travelers learning the insurance business in general and Commercial/Business Insurance in particular. After those 5 years, he left Travelers to join the agency ranks. This is the production/sales side of the business. He spent 13 years working for other agencies in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. During this time, his area of concentration was Business Insurance.
In May 1987 John decided to start his own insurance agency. This decision was based on his ability to service his clients in a more professional manner. It was in May 1987 that John was awarded the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. He has attended annual updates to maintain that designation every year since.
