John. E. Downing MD, PSC was opened in Bowling Green in 2013. After working for over two decades in Glasgow, Dr. Downing opened this practice in a new location.

He still offers the same skillful eye care, superior service and gentle treatment that defined his previous practice and helped him build a great reputation among his patients.

We look forward to connecting with old and new patients from our new Bowling Green location, where we will continue to provide the same stellar care and service that has made John E. Downing a familiar, trustworthy name for the past 40 years.

Dr. Downing has devoted his life’s work to the practice of ophthalmology. 40 years in the business, and he’s just as passionate as he was the first day on the job. In addition to the enormous amount of experience and ability he has been fortunate to refine and develop over 4 decades of medical practice, Dr. Downing defines his practice through his genuinely friendly disposition and kind treatment.

Dr. Downing loves working day in and day out with his patients, but his interest in the field goes further than that — he’s also a faculty member at Vanderbilt and the University of Louisville. He has traveled the world with an organization called Orbis International, teaching cataract surgery in a number of countries.
