So if you have a special day(wedding) make sure you have more than a hundred people going. I have been talking with Sharon setting up our menu for our wedding on October 17th. They told me that they would be able to cater our event which I told them the location and the amount of people going over 2 months ago.(45 guests.) Last month I had finalized the menu and was ready to pay in full. I was just waiting on her to send the contract. I live out of state so trying to find a caterer has been a bit of a challenge. I called 2 weeks ago and talked with her on the phone; she said she was still working on the contract.(No problem I’m thinking) She said it would be sent in a few days. A week goes by and I call Whitt’s and she is not there. They said she was still working on the contract. I call yesterday and finally got in touch with her. I asked her if she had the contract ready for me to pay them. My response from her ” Well I talked to my husband, and we decided that it wasn’t worth us to come out to that location for the amount of people you have.” There was no apology or any tone of caring. It is less than 2 months until my wedding date. Now I have to start from scratch and scramble to get another caterer in line. Needless to say I’m pissed! I’m in the service industry and have catered events myself. Had they told me from the start they wouldn’t have been able to take care of us it wouldn’t be an issue. So from Michigan I’m sending a BIGSCREW you!!!

Barbecue on cornbread? I had to try, but these are two great flavors better left alone. And the sandwich disintegrates in your hand(duh). No smoke in the house. Pass this one by.

Whitts was suggested at the hotel I was staying at when I asked about good barbeque. Prices were reasonable and service was quick. I ordered a rib plate to go. The meat was fall off the bone tender but the flavor was just ok. There was quite a bit of grease and fat. I got mac and cheese and apple as for sides. They were both pretty good. I had cornbread which looked like a pancake and was pretty good.

Good BBQ joint! I had a BBQ pork sand which came with slaw and pickles on it and hand cut fries. Fries were wonderful. BBQ was good. I have eaten here a few times and it is always consistently good. The service is always friendly and fast. There are a few things on the menu that look great and I have seen other customers eating… beef, half chicken, and ribs. They will also serve their sand on cornbread which sounds odd yet good. Their dessert is banana pudding, which I think is a house specialty. All in all. good place to eat.

Driving down I-65 through KY during the mid afternoon, I needed some food and coffee to charge up. I pulled off the highway in Bowling Green at Exit 22(US231/Scottsville Rd) and traveled through the very saturated retail district of Bowling Green, reminds me of S Broadway in Salem NH and Wolf Rd in Colonie NY. I got my coffee at the«Bucks» first and then I stopped Whitts Barbecue, located off Scottsville Rd near the mall. This place looks like a typical fast food restaurant with a drive-thru lane and an inside counter with ample seating inside. I go inside to decide what I was going to get. The menu offerings include sandwiches, dinner plates,(pork, beef, turkey, ribs, pit smoked chicken), side items, giant potatoes, kids meals, desserts(sweet potato pie, cake, banana pudding), Coke drinks, and unsweetened & sweet tea. The prices are pretty reasonable, most dinners in the $ 5-$ 8 range. For takeout, I ordered the Beef Plate($ 4.89 plus tax) served with 2 sides and cornbread. I saw that the meat was weighed to be exactly 5 oz, as my order was being put together in about 5 minutes. The portion of food was pretty good for the price, sweet bbq sauces on the side. The beef brisket was okay, very soft and tender, seemed liked it was boiled, similar texture to pot roast or sauerbraten. The minced cole slaw was very crispy and had lots of vinegar, a bit too much. They also offer the mayo version of cole slaw too. The Mac & Cheese was good, a firm textured elbow macaroni, with light creamy cheese. The corn bread was actually a corn meal griddle cake, which I liked. I would come back since the prices are very good and the service is prompt, but the food was just only good, no wow factor.
