We really like the food and have eaten here often. They have a good wing special on Monday nights. The place never seems to be crowded but the service has always been slow. Really slow. Things always seem to get messed up with our order as well. Simple things. Not sure what is going on with the staff but it seems every time we end up with a new waitress who hasn’t been there that long. Everyone that we’ve met has been nice. It’s sad because the place has real potential but at some point we may just stop going in because of repeated problems. Give them a try on a night you have a few hours to hang out.

Now called, «The woods» I wish I could give this place –5 stars. If you know anything about Boyertown, you know that it is swarming with racist hillbillies and heroin addicts. This place is their home. Please avoid this place at all costs, unless if you are a self loathing bigot who has no problem saying the n word constantly in public then go ahead! Come in and let everyone know how much you hate black people and how gays are ruining this country. The staff will probably buy you a drink on the house. Your choice of bud, bud light, Coors or natty ice!

The name has changed to Wood’s and with the name went the service and quality. Our bartender was flighty and non attentive. With 6 people at the bar you think she could keep up… I ordered the prime rib cheesesteak which I was hoping would be bursting with steak. No dice, It was 70% bread and 30% everything else. The Cajun mushrooms used to be my favorite but they also went downhill. I may be a little overly picky because I live in Philly but I need to tell it how it is. Sorry woods, you’re no cutting it

Down home feeling when you walk in. Nice friendly staff. Crab cake Sandwich was awesome the best I’ve had in a long time. They had Shock top on tap which made me happy.

Shanesville is one of those unfortunate stories of misplaced vision and poor execution. Once it was sold and purchased by the people who own the Pleasantville inn, they decided to try a country lodge décor. It failed miserably. There is little as uncomfortalbe as trying to eat while being glarred at by the carcasses of your entre’s ancestors. Then there is the food. It is mediocre. Its menu is understandably meat laden due to the theme, and the meat there is well cooked, but the sides are MEH, at best. Deffinitly not worth a repeat. Then there is the issue of parking. Do not take a large vehicle there. It is not advised.

Very country casual(and well decorated), food was excellent — we got the baby back ribs and Shepard’s Pie; both were generous portions and well presented. Waitress was friendly and attentive.

Went here for dinner tonight. It’s a few miles up Rt 73 on the exteme outskirts of Boyertown. A unique and interesting place. I don’t know when was the last time that I was at a restaurant that felt so blue-collar. Not that there’s anything wrong with that mind you, it’s just different. It’s definitely got a deliberate mountain lodge vibe. Walls are adorned with various animal head and fish mounts, lamps made of various animal legs, old barrels, circular saw blades with country scenes painted on them hang on the walls — you get the picture. Also, all the waitresses are wearing identical camouflage t-shirts with the restaurant name on it. When you first look at the menu the prices seem a little high for the looks of the place and there are a good number of items on the menu that are listed as Market Price or Price by the oz. which is something you expect to see at a more fine dining restaurant. However the portions are generous and you definitely get your moneys worth. The food was pretty good and our meal was started off nicely with a small loaf of fresh baked bread. I got the Queen cut prime rib and my wife got the broiled haddock. We both enjoyed our entrees. My only complaint about the food, albeit a minor one, is that my sauteed spinach side came literally swimming in butter. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much butter in a side dish. I’m guessing it was about ½ stick of butter that my spinach was sitting in. It was even too much butter for me and I tend to go heavy on butter. Service was the only serious negative of the evening. Our server was friendly but she was not attentive at all. We only saw her a few times the entire evening. There were a couple times during our meal when another woman(hostess?) checked on us but in spite of that there was a ½ hour stretch after salad but before entrees where I sat with an empty drinking glass and we had no bread. We did finally get offered more bread but it was once we were halfway through our entrees so it was too late at that point. We might try it here again some time with the hope that the service is much better the second time around.

If you are in the mood for a «meaty» evening, this is your place. The wine selection leaves something to be desired. But they do have a decent beer selection. When I say«meaty» evening I am serious. The only vegetarian item on the menu is a veggie burger. The place recently came under new ownership and from what I hear about it around town, this is a good thing. They do have a good burger and if you’re interested in a steak they sell it by the ounce. From 4 ounces all the way up to a ridiculously gluttonous amount. If you’re in the neighborhood stop in, you probably won’t regret it… unless you don’t eat meat!
