My family really enjoys Migi Sushi, particularly for lunches. Services is good. Food always tastes good. The sushi has the highest fish: rice ratio of any sushi in the area. Portions are nice size, ingredients are fresh. Nothing showy, here, just delicious food in a quiet setting.

Overall for the area there are few really good Japanese Restaurants. We love the laid back atmosphere with game shows or poker tournaments on the TV playing softly in the back ground. I love the King Kong roll. Their Hibachi is really good as well. There are key factors that make up a good Japanese Dish… good clear broth soup, good fried rice, good white, shrimp or yum yum sauce and awesome vegetables. They have impressed us on all fronts. Honestly in 3 years we haven’t had a bad meal.

We have eaten here at least a dozen or so times in the past 2 years. It’s usually ok but yesterday they went from 4 stars to 2… and here’s why. Lets start with… It’s a mom and pop place and even the kids work here. They are very accommodating when you want to change a dish or a sushi roll which is nice. Their rolls are on the pricier side and their rolls are not THAT big so I don’t know why the high price. They have Thai dishes that are good too. Yesterday was the first time we had a real issue. Hubby ordered a Thai dish and asked for it to be Thai hot. He likes that kind of heat… but he said there was no flavor to it not even the coconut flavor that it’s supposed to have… just oily and hot. When he said something to the owner, she said that you need a lot of chili oil to make it Thai hot and just walked away. Our daughter ordered the Salmon Teriyaki dinner. It was SOOOO fishy and DRY. She at most of one filet and left the other. When the owner came to clear away dishes I asked her to take the rest of our daughter dinner away because she was not going to eat it. She asked why and I told her… she said… oh maybe she doesn’t like salmon… I responded with NO she loves it and has it once a week. I explained that is was too fishy and dry. You’d think with 2 dishes not being right or good, they’d take something off of the bill but NO. We will no longer be eating here. Sushi Hanna is much better!

Nice family-owned restaurant. Their hibachi is great if you are over the loud screams and volcanoes at the traditional hibachi restaurants. Thai offerings were good as well. Sushi wasn’t too exciting. Very fast service in a comfortable, very causal environment.

Excellent service, great sushi and generous with the fish — not filled with rice. Try the Fuji and Valentine Roll — yummy. Owner is quick to accommodate special requests not on the menu. Her children help out in the restaurant and are pleasant and well behaved. We go about once a week and are never disappointed.

Do not eat here, this is not a legitimate sushi restaurant. Very low quality! And the chef started cursing at is as we left for complaining about the poor quality of the food.

NEVER again. First time there. Absolutely in shock at how we were treated by the server who is also the owner. Asked if I could not have something in my food since I didn’t like that… no was what I got. Ok… ordered it anyway, was told it would be mild to medium spicy. There was NO flavor at all. Very bland. I order the same dish at other Thai places & they are always nice & accommodating and its delish. We asked for separate checks… my friend tried to pay for hers w/a c. card…they refused to take it. We can’t charge it be chase your bill is under $ 10. We were never told that, there isn’t a sign… NOTHING stating this. The owner was so mean & said«why don’t you have cash! Everyone has cash! It’s only $…and then looks at me saying you should pay for your friend! I’m sorry what??? Then she argued again about my friend or having cash on her but could pay w/her card, which she refused again. She looks back at me and said why don’t you want to pay for your friend?! WHAT? Are you kidding me? My friend offered to write a check, she refused. My friend offered to come back tomorrow with cash… she said oh no don’t come back be chase no one will come back to pay. Seriously the insults were coming non stop. OMG. Then she preceded w/don’t worry about it, it’s not much but I do have a broken car. My mouth dropped. This owner is relentless. She said again you should pay for your friend. Ummm heck no I’m not given you another penny of my money after paying my own check. This entire interaction was over a bowl of soup & a water that my friend had… The owner did acknowledge that she should have disclosed the no credit cards under $ 10 thing when we told her separate checks… but more insults kept coming. We left there in shock at the behavior & insults. Horrible experience. Have never been treated so badly. I’m going to never shy away from Thai Wasabi again! The only reason we ended up at Migi was because Thai Wasabi was closed on Sundays & we didn’t know. I’ve never had a bad experience there. Learned my lesson! Btw, Migi was dead for a Sunday dinner hour… I see why now!

More like 3 ½. Great lunch specials including 3 rolls of your choice, miso soup, and salad for $ 10.95. Sushi is fresh, not the freshest, but fresh enough. Service is fast and they always get the orders correct. My favorite roll is the Tuna Crunch roll. I particularly like it because the tuna is ground up rather than just a chunk of tuna wrapped in rice. I continue to go back.

Their sushi is fantastic. I have tried a couple of their rolls and like everything I’ve tired. Their sashimi is PERFECT and has wonderful portion sizes and their nigiri is just as wonderful. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried. Their décor inside and outside isn’t the best ever, but their service and food quality is totally worth it. Their prices are good and it’s clear they are a local business that relies on local fresh fish. I’d definitely go again and come regularly.

This place is terrible. I expressed my distaste for one of their rolls, which I had ordered every time Id been there in the past. Instead of remaking the role or even apologizing, the server chose to argue with me about my opinion, took the role and then tried to charge me for it. I will never eat here again the service and management is atrocious.

Mediocre at best. The place was empty at 4pm on a Saturday and the food is why. Sushi fish had no flavor and I’m sure it was frozen. The tom Kai Gum soup tasted acidic and old. Service was unfriendly.

It’s a nice quiet place in a shopping strip, I’ve only tried sushi to go, but twice now I’ve gotten fishbones in my sushi rolls. I want to like this family run business, and I’m sure their thai food may be great, but be careful with the«sushi».

So i just started eating sushi, more specifically rolls. I tried this place and will not be going back. The seaweed in all the rolls i tried was tough and i had to pull it out of my mouth in full pieces. Besides that, the rest of the roll was good. But the seaweed is pretty important. There are other sushi places nearby i will go to next time.

I just started venturing over to SR64(Manatee Ave) on my lunch break realizing that it is just as close as going to other parts of town from my work location. I tried Thai Wasabi first, and I think that experience totally spoiled me. Migi Sushi was the next in line for me to try, tucked away in an empty looking shopping center and absolutely no Unilocal reviews. The interior is dark and lined with sparkling lights, which creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. They also have large booths for conversations that you do not want others to ease drop on. The menu is extensive and offers Chinese, Thai, and Japanese items. I overheard the staff speaking in Thai, in case that may influence your choice of cooking style. We started off with Crab Rangoon(6 for $ 3.95) only because I was craving them something fierce, nothing about authenticity. We also ordered three rolls: –Rock’ N Roll($ 7.95) — fried shrimp and cream cheese. The cucumber inside did not compliment this roll and should probably be left out. –Spicy Tuna Roll($ 5.50) — the tuna was totally minced into jam and mixed with spicy mayo, which made the consistency a little hard to deal with at times. However, this was the most flavorful of all of the rolls ordered. –Volcano Roll($ 7.95)-a very small amount of shredded imitation crab meat mixed with spicy mayo, it was almost dry. This was on top of your run of the mill California Roll. I would avoid this one. I ordered the Mongolian Beef($ 12.95 lunch) because they described it as only having onions and scallion on top of rice noodles. The description made it seem that it would almost be the right thing. There was barely any beef, too many purple onions, runny sauce, and a strong vinegar taste with soggy noodles. It was totally wrong. I just picked the beef out so it would not go to waste. The Massaman Curry($ 10.95) was ordered with tofu. The portion was large, as with the other dishes but the curry was runny and not very flavorful. The lunches came with a delicious wonton soup made with a yummy dashi based broth. The Spring Roll was filled with celery and not much meat, if any at all. As you can tell, I was not pleased with the food overall, it was mediocre and I don’t think that I could get myself hyped up enough to ever make my way back here. The staff was friendly and I liked the atmosphere, but that does not make up for the food. Thai Wasabi has the same menu offerings with amped up flavor and freshness,(cheaper too) so I will just continue to go there instead.
