Painting with a Twist is your answer to fun. The concept pairs instructional art with a lively instructor to produce individual works of art. Bring your favorite beverage, whether it’s wine or lemonade, your family and friends and enjoy step-​by-​step instruction with our experienced and enthusiastic local artists. You’ll leave with a one-​of-​kind piece of art and a new found talent you’ll want to explore. Painting with a Twist is also the perfect venue for private parties. From birthday and bachelorette parties to date nights and corporate team building events, we can help you celebrate anything.

History

Established in 2014.

After Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, friends Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney found a way to twist a tragedy into a purpose. The storm flooded Deano’s house and destroyed Maloney’s husband’s three truck stops in Mandeville, Louisiana, but the two fundraising enthusiasts wanted to focus on helping their community recover.

The business did well enough for Maloney and Deano to expand; today they own four locations and the business has 243 franchise locations nationwide. Maloney expects to add 70 new locations by the end of 2014.

Business Owner

We worked together in a local non-​profit for many years. After attending a painting party in St. Petersburg with Sheri’s daughter, Nicole, the trio decided Sarasota needed a Painting with a Twist. With both of us coming from the non-​profit community, the PWAT philosophy of giving back to local charities through Painting with a Purpose is a perfect fit for us. After one year in, we are opening a second studio in Bradenton. Watching our customers relax, have fun and discover some hidden talent is so rewarding!

Interesting Fact: Hope and Sheri’s children married and they share two wonderful grandsons — Dylan and Mason. The boys love coming to the studio and painting with other kids.

Amazing! I went twice to a class with Tiffany and Kelly and had a blast. So much so that I got my parents a gift certificate so they can experience this too. I am horrible at art, but these ladies made it easy and fun. I’ll definitely be back!

This is my second adventure! Before I begin I always look at the final project and feel overwhelmed, yet the instructor takes it not only step by step but layer by layer! The finished project always amazes me that «I DID THAT»! Wait an additional 24 hours and it seems more astonishing! Think you have no creative juices, they know you do!!! Stick to form or be unique.
Don’t forget your beverages, although wine is the obvious (water, soda, even beer)! Small party platters and/​or yummy sweets make easy paintbrush food.
Bring your friends, coworkers, family, significant other, a stranger off the street, or just come alone (you’ll make many new friends)!
WORD OF CAUTION: It’s addictive!
You’ll be following PWAT locations like rock band groupies.

I went to a birthday party at Painting with a Twist, Manatee last night and had a fabulous time! We painted Sugar skulls and had wine and snacks (which they allowed us to bring in and helped set up and clean up!) We had two fantastic people run our class Brandon and Lisa and they had the best attitudes and really made the experience super fun! Many of us were nervous about painting and we all left super impressed with our paintings! The music was great too! I highly recommend doing this!

This was my second trip, to PWAT Bradenton. There will be many more to come. I absolutely loved the energy and fun environment. This is not like any class I’ve ever been to. My first artist/​instructor was Tiffany, second time it was Brandon and Lue. Both times, the «party hosts» were amazing. Wine and snacks are welcome. They provide aprons, all supplies and fun music. This was definitely great for anyone skill level. I can’t wait to go back!

And a great time was had by all. Can’t paint? Go anyway. You’ll be surprised with how well you CAN paint with the assistance of the very talented and very fun loving artists that teach these classes.
A little wine, a little paint and a lot of fun; before you know it, your painting is done and the night is, sadly, over. You’ll get hooked.
Many, if not all, of the artists are actual art school graduates. They are personable and very approachable… and very talented! Their instructing talents are true and honest, and they’ll help you get out of a bind if you just can’t get it to work on your canvas.
The painting options are a wide variety, so if you don’t see one you really want to paint now, just keep checking.
The idea is one painting per class that is taught to the group. You walk out with your own masterpiece.
The franchise is big on giving back to the community, so each month they have a «Painting with a Purpose» in which a large portion of the money goes to various charities. You can contact the owner if you have a fundraiser you’d like to raise money for and she will do everything in her power to make your «Painting with a Purpose» a big success.
You can’t go wrong here. Artists Brandon, Tiffany, Tucker, Rolph, Phil and Leu are a few of the amazing teachers you’ll have while having a great evening of fun, laughter, wine and painting. Don’t miss this!

It’s about $ 35 a person to paint and you can bring in your own snacks and drinks-​alcohol is allowed. They supply what you need to create a painting on canvas, from aprons to the brushes. An instructor tells you how to paint the picture you choose so you don’t end up with a mess. It’s a fun way to spend a couple of hours with family or friends.
Instructor Lue Brentwood is a very nice guy.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I had such a blast both times I went there. The first time, it was just me and my friend and then this past weekend I went with 11 friends! Both times we had so much fun and both instructors were awesome! There were people of all ages there and everyone was having fun! Highly recommend!

What a great time! Even my husband who said, «I’m not really going to even try because I know I will be horrible…» loved it and had (in my opinion) the best painting in the class! Our group brought gobs of wine and appetizers because we thought — if nothing else, we’ll have food and alcohol! Let me tell you, this was the most fun I’d had in a long time. Tucker was great, friendly, patient, fun and has great taste in music! I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Attended this class with a small group of friends and had a blast! Location is new and clean. Our teacher was Rolph and he had us laughing the entire class. All skill levels can feel comfortable in this class/​environment. It was great to see how different everyone’s painting turned out.
Would definitely attend another class!
