I went to Lotus for the first time because I purchased a Groupon for a wash, cut, and style. Danielle was my stylist, and she was absolutely awesome! She was super friendly, and she made sure that I was comfortable the whole time and that my hair was just how I wanted it. She did not push products on me, which was a relief (that’s one of the things I normally hate about a salon). It was an enjoyable experience from start to finish! I’ll definitely go back.

Krista is absolutely amazing and the salon is beautiful. I originally went to Lotus because i found a Groupon, and ended up with Krista, the owner. She was WONDERFUL to me. I have tried every salon in the area, and never found one i considered to be worth returning to… until i came here. You absolutely get what you pay for, and she is worth every penny. I am a 4 time happily returning customer with another appointment in 8 weeks. I HIGHLY recommend coming here.

I’ve been on the search for a new salon and have tried a couple of places. The location is good and the salon is nice enough (small, clean).
My appointment was for the first week of November. I was early (my appointment was st 10:00 am) and the owner (who did my keratin) was just getting in. She was clearly annoyed that I was there early, but I can sympathize as I am not a morning person myself, and she likely didn’t have a moment to get herself situated before she had me there, ready.
She wasn’t terribly warm or friendly, but again, it’s early so that’s somewhat understandable. As she is about half-​way through applying the keratin (before the dryer), she tells me that she won’t «guarantee» my keratin will last the 4 – 6 months unless I buy her specific products. Ugh!!! I hate when places push products on you. There is absolutely NO REASON for buying a particular brand of product for keratin-​treated hair as long as you buy a product that IS specifically FOR keratin-​treated hair. I do understand, however, that lots of people are looking for a cheap shortcut to using the right types of products (Hello?! You spend $ 300 on your hair, you don’t go buy some cheap crap at CVS!).
As a salon owner (and one would assume, experienced stylist) she is right to try to educate people about how to properly care for their hair. So, wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt, I assumed that was all she was trying to do, at first. I replied that I used an expensive, Sodium-​Chloride, Sulfate and Paraben free shampoo and conditioner and only did so about 2X per week because my hair is so fine. She insisted that I buy her products or all bets were off. I indicated I would be willing to try the product, but would likely look for it on Amazon — again, not an acceptable option as she wouldn’t have «proof» that I was using the right products. What? Bizarre. So as to not continue to debate (really, argue) with her, I said I understood and that I’d never had a problem with a keratin treatment before so I assumed I wouldn’t have one now.
Later, we’re chatting. I said how I’d been looking for a new stylist and told her I used to go to Dennis at another Braintree salon, but that he’d left and the woman who took his place there (Cathy) was not for me. We talked about how Groupon was working for her (I have an interest in this as I’m a Marketing Professor and we talk about Promotion quite a bit in class). She was very, very negative. She said that people go from salon to salon, getting these deals, and never come back. That really surprises me… maybe for a manicure, or dry-​cleaning, sure. But for hair? Then don’t do it!
The keratin treatment itself — all together — took less than 90 minutes. That’s everything — the wash/​dry first, the application of the keratin, under a dryer and the flat ironing. When I expressed surprise about how quick it was done, I was told this was «normal». Well, it’s not. I’ve been having keratin treatments for the last 7 years, and I have very thin, shoulder length hair. Usually keratin treatments take 2 – 3 hours, with 60−90+ minutes of flat iron straightening (going over each piece 8 times is the standard, I believe). In total I’ve had keratin treatments from 3 other salons and this was by far the shortest time ever.
I still had high hopes as I’ve never had a problem with a keratin treatment. I even booked a follow-​up appointment for 6 months later, figuring things would work out and I could tell her next time to stop pushing products, my hair was fine. She thawed a bit when I booked the follow-​up, tipped her well (as she is the salon owner we know that is not required, but I felt like she provided a service, so she deserved it). She even gave me a gift card/​coupon for a discount off a cut/​color which was a nice touch.
2 months later the keratin is totally gone; it never really felt like it was «in there» even during that short time. I booked with another salon, Alban Hair Design, in early February. It came out AMAZING (also done by the owner, Jill) and still looks amazing 2 months later. I cancelled my appointment with Lotus, and told them why.
Other people have given Lotus a good review. It’s been there for 20 years so they must be doing something right. Unfortunately, not everyone is an expert at keratin. Shortcuts are taken as it’s a very time-​consuming process, the products used for it are expensive (or so I’ve been told by Dennis) and what they can charge has gone way down, which makes it a far less lucrative service. As a result, some push products, use inferior products and/​or turn to Groupon. But if you don’t do a great job the first time (as noted by a previous reviewer) and treat this as an opportunity to impress the (hopefully!) new repeat client, then you are wasting your time, and ultimately, risking damage to your reputation.
All is well, now that I have Alban — Jill was warm, friendly and clearly knew her stuff. I’ve found my new «hair home»!

I love krista! She’s great. Every time I go there, I am looking for a transformation. Whether it be multi tonal color or an extreme cut. I am ALWAYS happy. She can multitask and is typically on time. Reasonable prices and lovely products. I’ve had problems with stylists always leaving or not listening and she is stellar! Salon is clean and parking is easy. Cannot say enough good about this place.

If you are going to offer groupons for new clients, don’t treat them like less of a client for using one! If you are offering a deal, it’s probably because you are hurting for business, or just looking for a new marketing approach. If someone takes you up on that deal, be grateful, treat them like a ‘regular’ customer, not like a last resort discount loving cheap-​o. The whole reasoning behind groupon and the like is to get new faces in your door so you have new repeat customers. If you treat them like garbage for being money smart, do you think they will return? I’ve made 2 appointments in the past with this salon using a groupon (new to the area, just getting my feet wet looking for a new salon to call home), and ended up canceling both times due to the way I was treated just for asking for an appointment with a deal that THEY are offering. Maybe they do a great job, but I don’t care to find out.

Very disappointed with my cut and service got better once she gave me a discounted rate due to the inconveniences and date changes which was nice. But for the cut, she seemed very rushed and didn’t feather or thin out my layers but rather cut everything straight across. It totally changed the shape of my hair. I couldn’t do anything with it. I thought it would grow out nice maybe but it never did. Hair was also very uneven, longer in one side. I Had to go get my hair cut again somewhere else just to fix it. It might have been an off day for her but that will be my first and last.

Small storefront in Weymouth Landing, strategically located next to Calabro’s so your other half can join in on the fun. Though small (4 chairs and 2 wash stations), it is nicely laid out, clean, and comfortable.
I came in with a Groupon for a wash, cut, and style and Danielle was my stylist. Sweet woman who does minimal chit-​chatting (someone who understands silence is okay!), but can be a bit rough when it comes to running fingers through the hair for the next trim or blowdrying your locks. I have a high pain tolerance, but can see it being an issue for children or someone who is more sensitive. I told her what I wanted (style, length, less volume) and she was able to deliver. Ended up having to have her thin out one side a bit more, but it was minimal and she was able to do as requested.
Danielle is experienced and listens and delivers on the cut you want. My request was pretty basic, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she can deliver on yours too!

I went here for the first time. I love my hair. I saw Danielle. She was wonderful, and far exceeded my expectations. She was friendly, easy to talk to, listened to what I wanted done & added her own ideas. I absolutely love my hair. The salon is clean, the staff is so friendly & professional. Excellent experience. I will not go anywhere else. I highly recommend Lotus to anyone looking for a top notch salon. Thank you for a great experience!!!

I love Lotus Salon! Krista always does a great job! My hair is on the thinner side and the way she cuts it always gives me more volume! I always get the best compliments on my hair after my visit! The prices are very reasonable and I have never been disappointed with my cuts, color, or highlights! I highly recommend Lotus Salon.

Very disappointed with the customer service. Stylist was very rough when applying highlights to the hair around my face. She was harshly pressing the front and sides of my face while applying the color onto the hair foil instead of placing her hand under the foil while coloring!!! Then she stuck me under the hair dryer which was blasting high heat. So rude and unprofessional. Won’t be going back there again.

I went into Lotus about 6wks ago to get my hair cut. I had moved to the area probably 9 months ago and hadn’t had a haircut since I moved so it was long overdue. Since Lotus is literally around the corner from my apartment I decided to give it a try. My hair was all the way down to my lower back and I was looking for a big change. I came equipped with a couple of photos and Danielle was completely awesome and gave me exactly what I was looking for. She was super friendly and easy to talk to and made me feel completely comfortable from the moment I walked through the door.
The salon itself is really small and quaint which I liked, the atmosphere is really cute. When all was said and done I had cut probably a good 8 inches of hair and literally felt like a weight had been lifted! I will definitely be back to Lotus the next time I need a trim. I was super happy with my experience there! Thanks Danielle!

I will admit, I hate getting my haircut. For years I have been «growing it out» and only stopping to get a trim or two a year at any old local place — like Supercuts. Getting a trim isn’t *that* important, right?
Boy, was I wrong!!! I booked my appointment by chance because of location and convenience and they had a Groupon deal. But, finally having a great experience at a salon was a game-​changer for me — I will be back coupon or not!
Danielle, my stylist, was very friendly, knowledgable, and confident. As I said before, I hate salons because I hate paying for over-​priced, dull haircuts. However, from start to finish there was not a moment where I was concerned for my locks — Danielle eased all my fears and the end result was better than I imagined! She somehow managed to tweak my normal style slightly and give me something I didn’t know I wanted. I’ve been getting compliments all week!
I will definitely be back for my next haircut — Groupon or not!

My hairs really needed a hair cut… They were in super bad shape… I got the group on coupon /​deal as a mothers day gift… After making an appointment was a bit worried… About how my hair gonna look… will it look ok on me…
Was very happy to be in Lotus salon. Got a very warm welcome… Then stylist gave me enough time to explain what i am really looking for… She suggested few of the style which will look better on my face cut… she really gave good time to me n my hair… N after talking to her. Was sure that my hairs are in good n safe hands… the cut she gave me. Changed all my look… got many compliments… Over that i was my self happy to have a nice hair style.
Every one in the salon is very nice n very welcoming. They were good to me as well as my lill one … Giving them five star for listening to customer. Understanding them… Suggesting them… Give enough time for a style… N above all a very warm welcome…

Just moved to Quincy area a couple months ago and haven’t found a salon at the time. I was in desperate need of a haircut and it seemed that all the places I were walking into were too busy to take me or were extremely not welcoming. I called Lotus Salon and they were able to squeeze me in. As soon as I entered the conveniently located salon I was given a warm welcome by who I believe to be the owner. All of the girls that work there are very friendly.
My stylist was very patient with my inability to really choose what kind of color and cut I wanted. I’m usually not very happy when I get my hair cut but this time around I was. She really understood what I wanted and gave me a cut and color that has made my hair look fresh.
The salon itself is small, about four chairs and two hair washing stations; but it’s very comfortable, modern, and simple. They are also located near a side street so finding a place to park was quite easy.
Needless to say I will be definitely be coming back to Lotus salon as long I live here!

I got my hair done at Lotus Salon in Braintree for the first time. I had my hair highlighted and cut by Krista right before my birthday and I loved it! I receive endless compliments on it! My hair was incredibly damaged and I’m always changing my hair color but I’ve always wanted to be blonde. I’ve tried several times myself but I’ve always just damaged my hair more. Krista helped me figure out what steps to take to achieve being a blonde without damaging my hair more. The highlights and haircut came out amazing! The salon has been in business for about 5 years and recently moved a few doors down to 20 commercial street which is newly renovated, warm and welcoming. The hairstylists are friendly and pay attention to what you want. I definitely recommend Lotus Salon! I will be back!

After learning about Lotus through Groupon (wash, cut, blowdry, style, conditioning treatment), I was so hopeful going to Lotus, after reading all the great reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately, this salon didn’t meet those expectations.
When I go to a salon, I expect cleanliness and great customer service. Once inside Lotus, I was confronted with a drab room and a lukewarm greeting. When I went to the bathroom the door was covered with grime and inside there were disheveled trays with various hair tools. NOT a good first impression and from there the lackluster experience continued (I still don’t know the stylist’s name because she never bothered to introduce herself).
Usually when I go to get a haircut I give them a general idea and then work with the stylist on the actual cut. The «stylist» was condescending to me when I told her it had been about 6 months since my last haircut, offered no suggestions and I barely felt listened to. She was very rough with combing and cutting my hair so much so that I didn’t want to be tortured with a blowout. She also didn’t offer to show me the back with a mirror (isn’t that a standard procedure?!). In the end, I basically got a mediocre trim.
Also, their version of a «conditioning treatment» is regular conditioner and then immediate rinse after the shampoo, like when you get your hair washed at a salon. My version is when they apply a conditioning treatment and have it sit in your hair for at least a few minutes. I really don’t think this Groupon was worth what it was purported to cost ($ 93? Absolutely not!). Luckily it was a Groupon, but this place will not be counting me as a repeat customer.
DO NOT GO HERE if you expect a clean and friendly environment with beauty professionals!

I was looking for a new salon and had purchased a Groupon for a cut and blow dry for Lotus. I was overall unimpressed. I didn’t hate it, but definitely did not love it.
My appointment was with Desiree, who although is a sweet girl, did not give me the best cut. I will not be returning to this salon.

Went on a Groupon for hair cut/​style & deep conditioning. I had Julie who was very personable and had lots of suggestions for improving my style. My hair feels fab and I like the way it looks. I have made an appointment to get highlights.
This place was clean and sparse. I like sparse, not clutter in my salon. Clutter just hides someone else’s hair.

I was searching Groupon for a salon deal to take care of my dark roots and over-​processed blonde highlights. I’ve been looking for a salon that I like that won’t cost a million bucks since I moved to Boston last Feb. Lotus had a deal for a wash/​cut/​dry, so I checked out their website and Unilocal reviews. I didn’t buy the Groupon bc it wan’t exactly what I needed, but Unilocal reviews were really good (average salon prices) so I made an appointment for the next day. The woman on the phone (i think another stylist) who made my appointment was nice, going over the what if’s of the appointment. Definitely knowledgeable.
Lotus is a clean, updated salon. Amanda was my stylist, she’s just great. I think what I needed done was relatively simple, an all over color to match my roots and get close to my natural color (or maybe ombré? she was insightful enough to go over the pros and cons to help me decide), but I’ve had consultations at other much more expensive salons who couldn’t even pretend to be interested in the simple needs of my hair. Not to mention the north shore salon i last went to where the woman thought it was «so funny» the blonde highlights i wanted (??? funny ???).
I could tell Amanda enjoyed her profession and my hair shows it. She’s so nice, conversational without forcing it. I personally don’t mind silence, I’d prefer to relax for a couple hours, but I found us chatting throughout the appointment. I showed her pics of my natural color and she brought out some color swatches. Explained that I might get fading bc of my light highlights, and answered all my questions. She matched my roots perfectly, gave me a great haircut and blowout to top it off. I also opted for a conditioning treatment she suggested which made my hair amazingly smooth. for $ 10!
I’ve already made my next appointment, can’t wait to go back, and I would (and will) recommend them to any of my friends. And as a girl who is now under the Groupon spell of hating to pay full price for anything, I didn’t mind for second paying full price for the services (gasp! when was the last time i did that??). THANK YOU LOTUS!

Got a Groupon Now for a haircut/​blowdry, I’ve been searching around for a new salon in the area and Lotus is a keeper! I was a little hesitant walking in to a near empty salon, but my worries were soon put to rest. Amanda took great care of me– the cut I like tends to be a challenge for many stylists (longer in the front and stacked in the back), but Amanda immediately understood what I wanted and knew how to execute it. She was even so meticulous as to blow out, straighten, and then touch up the cut.
In and out in one hour, wash, deep conditioning (thanks for the celebrity rags!), and an eyebrow wax too! The place was clean and pleasant, and I fully intend on making this my regular hair-​do-​destination. It was only an hour before I was stopped in CVS and asked about my cut– good thing I had a fresh business card in my pocket! With prices this reasonable and such personable, talented hairdressers, it’s no wonder Lotus won Best of Braintree. Worth the drive from the city!
