A few years ago I really couldn’t stand to go in this store, but now I couldn’t feel more different. The atmosphere really changed a lot. I’ve been going in to get a cup of tea every week for over a year now. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, patient and kind and give the best suggestions. Because they’re so helpful, they’ve walked me through all the teas I’m interested in and I’ve tried dozens of different ones. This has become one of my favorite stores ever. What a difference great customer service makes!

Great place at the mall… Stopped in for the first time today. I left with a tiny tea maker, some raspberry lemon tea and rock sugar. Its pretty good. The girl who sold it to me was very helpful. Tea is a bit pricey though…

I love trying new tea but I feel as though this place, all teas taste the same. I rarely put sweeteners in my tea, so maybe that’s why they taste the same to me. It’s not to die for tea, but it’s not a number one place I’d go for tea. Also, sometimes it takes forever for service so I just walk out the door.

I’ll start by mentioning that I love Teavana. I think their teas are great. However, this location leaves much to be desired.
They are very pushy with selling their «tea tins,» which is normal but they escalate it to general rudeness. The last time I was there I asked for 2oz. of tea, the guy working there gave me 3.8oz. saying that was as close as he could get it to 2oz. Seriously? The best he could do was nearly double what I asked for. If you don’t mind being treated poorly and upsold on products you don’t want, then this is your place. Otherwise, you are better off going into Boston. The Prudential Center location is much less pushy.

With my tea addiction, walking by Teavana was impossible for me to not stop inside. The lady who was standing outside the store attracted us in with the free samples they had around the store — they were so tasty, but were loaded with sugar to make it extra sweet.
I was shocked to find that the prices for the tea are overly priced and the lady showed us the most expensive kind! Also, they only can sell you in set amount with the minimum being 2oz. Since I was tea-​deprived and wanted to introduce my cousin into the world of loose leaf tea, we purchased three different types of tea and the total ended up being approximately $ 30 dollars (each bag was the minimum amount).
So, my American friends… just avoid Teavana and come to Canada for David’s Tea –there’s a larger selection, no big commitments to the whole 2oz minimum, and it’s much more friendlier to your wallet.

TL;DR: The tea is fine but I can’t speak for it’s «actual» quality/​rarity. Staff is so fake! They put on such a show and it just makes the experience feel so sketchy like you’re getting ripped off!
I’m probably your typical techy geek who drinks «way too much» coffee and succumbs to the hype of statements like «tea is so much better for you.» So after years of obsession with coffee and coffee equipment, I decided to put some tea on my Christmas list this year. The way I see it, sure, Teavana makes a lot of «tea blends» with sugar and fruit and whatnot in it, but I guess it’s a good transition for somebody like me to get into the habit of drinking straight up loose leaf tea. So cool; I added some Teavana teas to my list. I received several Teavana teas as gifts and have enjoyed them.
I decided to stop in at this store and possibly learn a thing or two about various teas and sample some of them. I also was in the market for possibly investing in a tea pot and they all looked so cool!
So I walk into the store fully expecting to drop some serious dough right? I was very quickly turned off by the staff who insisted on pitching everything to me as if it were, like other reviews have said, a used car. Like the kind of used car that is actually a lemon that will break down but they really really want to sell it to me. I make it (IMHO) quite clear that I’d like to browse on my own and thoroughly inspect the things I’m considering to buy, possibly even come back another day once I’ve thought it over.
Anyway, I notice some essentials are on sale. A 75% off sale even, making them closer to what I’d actually pay for them (I’d never have spent $ 15 on a tea ball. but ~$ 4 was reasonable). So I find a strainer I liked but it wasn’t marked so I asked the staff if it was on sale… She immediately starts this ridiculously faked scene about how she thought they were out of them and «OMG WHERE DID YOU FIND THESE?!»… Really? This store is smaller than my bedroom, give me a break. So she yanks it out of my hand and grabs ~5 more of them off the shelf and dumps them on a sale rack. I picked up the strainer I wanted and was pleased to also see their «perfect tea timer» was on there too… not worth $ 10 but pretty handy for $ 3. I also grabbed a big tin of, as the staff member put it «ridiculously cheap, but super high quality tea» that was marked down to $ 10.
WHEN I GOT MY RECEIPT the tea timer wasn’t on sale (despite being on the sale rack and them obviously knowing that and not telling me) AND they charged me for the tin that the discounted tea came in (despite the price tag not stating that)!!!
Other gripes: the staff flock to the people that are more likely to spend money even if you are asking questions to them; they will abandon you in a heartbeat!

This is a great little place with a friendly knowledgable staff. A little pricey but the tea is great.

The Staff is super friendly! That is what I like most about this location. But as far as the size of the shop I think it’s kind of small and cramped in the ‘showroom’
Buying tea is much more peaceful with the pleasant staff. Very helpful, they explained all the teapots, and tea kettles to me (even if I decieded not to buy) and asked me to try all their samples of tea, the dragon blueberry/​strawberry mix chilled with the right amount of German rock candy sugar is amazingly awsome!
I recently bought the white tea-​Peach momotaro and it was delectable! The frangrance and taste just helped me wake up in the morning and soothes the rest of my hectic day. 18 $ for 2 oz. is pricy because I am a teenager and all but it’s totally worth it.
A year ago I brought the lemon grass (I forgot its actual name) but it smelled like buttered popcorn and something else that’s creamy… it honestly made me dizzy, but when the staff opened the lid and gave me a scent it smelled gorgeous and satisfying. Who knew it would give me a headache and make me nauseous as soon as I brewed it… but hey if anyone likes the smell of lemon grass, unidentified creamy smell, buttered popcorn and vanilla be my guest and enjoy!

Teavana is such a good idea but then yuou have to deal with the pushy sales people, they are the worst. They get attitude when you dont want a pound of tea, when you dont want the $ 7 tea tin beacuse you already have one at home, and when they realize this they cop an attitude.
This company should really think about the sleazy and pushe sales techniques that they teach to their staff. They are losing customers left and right.
The employees need to get over themselves, you get mad at me because I am not spending hundreds of dollars on tea… seeing you get paid about $ 10 an hour tops, would you spend that kind of money on tea? I dont think so!
never going here again

This was one of the 3 – 4 places that pulled us in as we were strolling through the South Shore plaza. I’m a big tea drinker, my husband will drink it, but he’s more of a coffee guy. We were originally looking for a kettle and decided to check it out and while we were there, the aroma was so great.
The staff was extremely helpful and informative. One of them came up to us and was explaining the double glass cups (I’d never seen one before) and why one tumbler was better than the other, etc. She was by no means pushy. And like one of the other reviews mentioned, if they offer you something in addition to what you want, it is their job! :)

Couldn’t resist updating my review to question whether Nora H. is the owner of this Teavana franchise, or just a friend/​relative of the owner.
Lesson to business owners who write their own Unilocal reviews: post a few reviews of other businesses so that your single glowing review of your own doesn’t look so suspicious.

I couldn’t agree more with the other reviewers if I tried. I love tea. I have all kinds of gadgets and gear at home already. I just want a couple of ounces of loose tea and I’ll be out of your way.
Don’t try to sell me on white tea when I say I want rooibos.
Don’t try to sell me honey.
Don’t try to sell me humongous tins when I only buy small quantities because I have so many different varieties at my house.
Finally, WHAT THE HELL is up with you fanning me with the tops of your tea display containers. Get that thing out of my face.
P. S. When I manage to get you to make a cup of tea for me, it always sucks. No one in there knows how to actually make real tea.

In addition to the borderline harassment of potential customers, including those walking by showing no interest in their products, this store/​chain does not accept any returns on «food» items. They include gift sets which contain prepackaged and sealed teas. Evidently, we are not to trust their products. Also, they have no sign up stating they do not accept returns on gift sets so basically, they are robbing people of their money.
Oh, and you can forget their «customer service.» I emailed their corporate office after I was told by the «manager» who looks to be about 18 that she could not disclose her regional manager’s name or contact info and have been ignored. No response in over a week. Totally unacceptable. But again, I guess I shouldn’t expect actual service from deceptive corporate thieves who pack their gift sets with poor selling flavors to dump their product and then hide behind a «return» policy that doesn’t accept returns on «food» items which evidently includes «tea» in a yes, TEA STORE. So what do you return? Those cheap plastic brewers you sell?
Fuck you, Teavana.
There are FAR better tea retailers out here who are actually interested in making customers happy.

I had the same experience in this store. The sale person would not leave me the hell alone. I said thanks I’m just taking a look and there is no need for the sales person to follow me around like a little puppy commenting on every single thing I touch or pick up. It was a huge turn off. She just wouldn’t go away. It’s too bad b/​c I like their tea although the prices are outrageous. I don’t see myself going back there.

Memo to Teavana:
1. No means no. It’s clear that your employees are supposed to harass customers and make them say «no» several times before they back off, and this is why I will never again enter your establishment, which is made of stalking and fail. NO MEANS NO.
2. It is not a used car. It is tea.
3. LEAVE ME ALONE. I SAID NO.
4. You are selling based on misinformation. Particularly regarding the caffeine content of your teas (caffeine content is thought to be based more on leaf type than the actual oxidation process) as well as a significant amount of misinformation about the quality of your tea, which is way, WAY more expensive than better teas from much less annoying retailers. Also, do me a solid and kindly quit making medical claims that haven’t been evaluated by the FDA, okay?
5. I DO NOT WANT FIVE POUNDS OF TEA. SHUT UP.
6. More misinformation: I know you want to high-​pressure-​sell people into buying your cast iron tetsubin because they make you lots and lots of money, but they are NOT the ideal way to brew tea, as you unfailingly present them. The best way to brew tea (in the opinion of many) is in a Yixing purple clay pot, or really any nice, porcelain pot. I know you don’t want me to know that, because a porcelain pot can be had for ¹⁄₁₀^th the price of one of your cast iron pots, but it’s true. Cast iron is hard to care for and the heat retention is bad for more delicate teas. (For those in the market for a good teapot, talk to the nice folks at

7. When you ask me if I need a tea tin, and I tell you I’m all set with tea storage, there is really no need to ask me four more times if I need a tea tin. That is the reason my voice is escalating and steam is coming out of my ears.

. All WAY better quality than Teavana, way cheaper, and best of all, nobody is breathing down your neck and begging you to PLEASE, PLEASE, OH GOD PLEASE BUY FIVE POUNDS OF TEA! And some extra-​super-​duper-​deluxe-​easily-​dentable –really-​overpriced tins to keep it in, too.

What a horribly deceiving store. It looks calm and peaceful, with interesting worldly music playing. When you finally walk by the front door, someone harasses you into trying a sample. No thanks. But am I sure? I said no thanks. But its the best stuff ever made! Oh, I didn’t realize it was «life changing», I’m sorry.
The time I did go in, I was harassed to buy everything. I wanted to take a closer look at some things, and apparently you aren’t allowed to do that here. I had someone tagging along my «journey» through the store, who wouldn’t leave even after I asked. Really? I’m sure we’ve all been in high pressure sales places before, but when I specifically ask for you to leave me alone, you still won’t? Wow. I stayed to see how bad if would get.
I noticed (while listening to someones speech about some random product) that someone had ordered just a cup of tea to go. I thought that was nice, and since there wasn’t anyone in line, I just walked up and asked for a recommendation for hot tea that is relaxing. The person pulled down some tins for me, and wafted the scent to me. Sure, it smelled nice, but I noticed the pricing. $ 15. And if you read the very small print below that, its for 2 ounces. The person pulled out an empty tin, started telling me why it was such a great deal for the tin, and started filling it up. I didn’t believe someone thinks people actually fall for that, but I guess they do. About midway through her filling, I explained I was only looking for a cup of tea to go, not to take home.
I could tell she was annoyed, and started again telling me how great the tea was. It had such and such benefit, and was incredibly rare. I asked her how much they sold of it, and she explained, «Oh people come in and buy this stuff by the pound, we sell TONS of it!» So I asked back, «If you sell tons of it, how is it so rare?» She made some excuse about the company having special and secret vendors… Am I really supposed to believe this mall based corporation has secret tea vendors from around the world? In any case.
I asked again just for the drink. She started dumping some of the tea back into its original tin, sighing. It’s not my fault you start filling it up before I said I wanted it. She then asked again if I didn’t want any to take home, because it was only $ 15 for two ounces, but $ 4.99 for just the cup. Five dollars for a cup of tea? It takes two teaspoons of tea to make that cup. Two ounces is $ 15. Why such a high markup? She answers, «Because we really don’t want to sell cups of tea to go.»
You don’t really want to sell it? Okay, then I won’t buy it. Or anything else, for that matter.
