Specialties
Adoption Cat Center houses adult cats and kittens over 4 months who are ready for their forever homes. Volunteers concentrate on socializing cats so they adjust well in their new homes. Potential adopters’ lifestyle is matched to best suited cats for a long-term successful pairing. We answer questions on breed and behavior issues. Area high school and college students volunteers earn community service hours. We have adults of all ages and families volunteering together, too. We do take older cats from the OC Animal Care who have successfully found new forever homes!
History
Established in 2012.
Joining Mutts N Stuff Small Dog Rescue nonprofit, Judith Serafini established the Cats In Tow Program in March 2012 when the organization secured the Petsmart Brea Cat Adoption Center as the 24⁄7 home of adoptable cats. Today we have 3 shifts 7 days per week to maintain approximately 6 – 7 cats in double cages and a large triple cage. We help volunteers learn to work with cats of all dispositions and basic healthy cat care. Over 300 cats and kittens (& dogs) have been adopted since March 2012. We also host cats in foster care at the front of Petsmart Brea during our Saturday and Sunday Adoption Shows held 12:30pm-4:30pm.

The Cats In Tow Program was an outgrowth of discovering and solving the serious community problem of an uncontrolled cat/kitten population located in a mobile home park where Ms. Serafini purchased a home in August 2004. Research led to the use of Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR); low cost/free spay/neuter of ferals at Golden State Humane Society, Garden Grove; requesting OCSPCA vouchers for free spay/neuter at participating vets; and joining an adoption group. Over 100 adoptable and feral cats were vetted and removed from the property in the last 11 years. Beginning in 2012 an OC Animal Permit was applied for and received annually as well as accepting on-site volunteers participating in the care of the kittens, cats, and dogs. In March 2012, the Petsmart Brea Cat Adoption Center was established and cats/kittens made available for adoption.
