My children 10 and 3 come weekly for lessons. All 3 of the staff are awesome. They recently moved to a much cleaner and quieter location in Brea. The lessons are always enjoyable and kids look forward to the next lesson before the end of their current lesson. The prices are much more affordable than other locations as well. I would definitely recommend regular lessons here.

Sad to hear these other negative reviews because we have had nothing but a great experience at Fun With Horses. My 5 year old daughter is obsessed with horses so we decided to bring her here to show her how much responsibilities there are with a horse and that it’s not all just pony rides. Allen has been her instructor and has done an amazing job! My daughter has a short attention span and working with the horses has taught her to focus and pay attention. Allen and Cheryl have been good people, Cheryl has a bit of a strong personality but you learn to deal with it, nothing wrong with it. That is her and you can’t change who people are. We started out with a Groupon discount and just kept coming back. My daughter starts school tomorrow so will not be able to come as often as she would like but we’re gonna try, we love it that much… Not to mention the fact that we’re coming from Los Angeles! Keep up the great job Fun With Horses!

Disrespectful and very unprofessional. I paid for an hour but the woman in charge did not want us to ride or experience the fun with horses that i had booked for the hour. She never answers her phone. I have never known anyone to turn down service men. I do not recommend fun with horses for anyone. I would give no stars if Unilocal allowed it.

My 6 year old son has a great time there and asked to go back. It was his first time there and he’s only been on guided pony rides before so this was his first real horseback riding experience. He learned to groom and handle a horse and had at least half hour riding on horse. Overall was a very good first experience. Cheryl was very nice and accommodating. Our instructor Peach was great with my son. And he rode Luke, a big horse but very calm and friendly. Will be going back.

I took my kids (7 year and 10 year old) there for a one hour session (groupon had a special). They taught them how to ride a horse, guide them, and groom them. I thought it was good experience for the one hour. My kids will be returning for the summer camp.

We had a great day with our daughter who is seven and her friend. First time My husband has ever been on a horse!

Yeah fun at the farm if you don’t mind the 57 freeway right next to you!
The traffic noise is constant and the smell of exhaust is unbearable. I went there to look at the place and when I walked into the office there were seven people sitting there talking and not one of them turned to look at us. After about a minute of awkward silence standing in a room full of people that didn’t acknowledge our presence I finally said hello? Once I had the chance to talk to them, the people in the office were condescending and rude. The whole place had a pretty bad feel to it. It sounds like Cheryl and the staff may be a little bipolar. Up and down some days good some days bad.

My 5 year old and 3 year old girls participated in the «Fun on the farm» class this past summer. They had the time of their lives. The class consisted of milking a goat, feeding the horses, grooming the horses, craft time and of course, riding a small horse. You get a lot of bang for your buck.
Just looking at other reviews and thought I should put in my 2 cents… When our girls rode Ebony, we walked alongside the horse and held onto them through the duration of the ride. It made sense to us that if the horse got jumpy, we could immediately pull them from the horse. You would not be able to do that if a child was strapped to the horse. However, Sterling and Ebony were very gentle and slow horses anyway. I hope this little story helps: Halfway through her first ride, my 5 year old became very apprehensive and you better believe that horse sensed it. The horse basically stopped and waited for her to settle down. Instead of the usual crying, my little munchkin listened to the trainer who told her to sit tall and look straight ahead. The horse felt the change and continued the ride. It was a great «aha» moment for my daughter who can sometimes be emotional. I honestly think it helped her to control her anxiety in a constructive way. After that experience, it became very clear to me why horses would be used for therapy.

This is a long overdue review, but I hope it gives you some helpful insight about this place. Horses are one of my top favorite animals and my boyfriend definitely took advantage of that fact when he took me here for a fun weekend date.
I don’t know how much we paid for it since it was a surprise date (and the Mister likes to keep those things secret to me), however I do know that there is a Groupon available right now ($ 33 for a 60 minute horseback riding session). So be sure to grab that while it’s still available.
I have to admit, there was a bit of some disorganization among the workers since my boyfriend and I waited until someone was available to help us. This was our first time horseback riding together and we didn’t really know what to expect.
However, with our session, one of the helpers taught us how to saddle a stead, groom a horse, and also get some horse-​riding time. My boyfriend and I rode separately and we each had our own instructor. Keep in mind, this isn’t a place for you to go horseback riding with a view. You are at the stables inside a gated area getting a horseback riding lesson.
I was able to go through some of the riding courses and I had the independence in steering my horse in whichever direction I wanted to (my instructor told me that I was more «advanced» for a beginner haha). While riding, I got to jump my horse over some small obstacle courses, which was pretty cool. It was an awesome experience because the horse and I had really great synergy :)
Overall, I enjoyed my horseback riding here. I highly recommend calling this place beforehand to see if reservations are needed. This place can get pretty packed. Be sure to snag that Groupon deal. Dress appropriate for the occasion (comfortable clothing, close-​toed shoes). Helmets are provided too.

I agree w/​the other low reviews on here. The only reason why I gave 2 stars instead of just one is because my son and I did indeed have a fun time the ²⁄₄ classes we went to (3^rd class I totally forgot about and 4^th class I was tired from work). He was able to feed a goat, I milked the goat twice, and he was exposed to different animals such as chicken, roosters, horses, sheep and a pig. He also really liked «Chili dog», a little wiener dog that belongs to Cheryl. He sang songs and did a craft which we still have at home and he enjoys. It was cute seeing him enjoy interacting with other children and singing.
HOWEVER when it came to the end of the class where he could go ride a horse, I felt very unsafe. They have the kids wear bike helmets, but they do NOT strap the children into the saddle. My son is only 2 years old and he is riding on a big horse rather than a small, slow pony. He got scared, which in turn scared the horse and the teenage volunteer didn’t know what to do. Thankfully, Cheryl stepped in but it was clear that her teenage volunteers are NOT properly trained in handling horses. When I asked why the children aren’t belted into the saddle, they gave a weird reason that I can’t even recall and that was not satisfactory to me. So my son only going to half the classes I paid for is actually a blessing.
For my son to experience animals and ride a horse, I feel much better bringing him to the Lakewood Eq Ctr where the ponies for his age are small and slow and the workers have proper training.

My daughter has been riding on and off «with Cheryl» for the past 5 years. Obviously it started out great, Cheryl herself was always there and monitoring. Gradually things became unsafe. Cheryl is rarely around and uses young volunteers to teach her classes. Classes are very expensive, but very unprofessional. Her books are totally unorganized, never updated on payment, cancels at last minute but mostly not safe for young riders! She relies too heavily on these young volunteers and they sound stressed! When she is around, she monitors volunteers and riders by screaming across the arena. Sad it has become such a horrible place for horse lovers in OC!

The reality is «30 min brush, 10 min on horses, and 20 min waiting»
If you did not cancelled the appointment 24 HOURS ahead, there is no negotiate to refund or re schedule.

What an amazing experience! I have never seen my little girl so excited to do something and she has not stopped talking about it since we went there. Our instructor, Brianna, was very kind, knowledgeable and an expert with horses. She made my daughter feel so comfortable and that made me relax too.
I always look for horse riding lessons online but most places only allow children over 8. We found this place via Living Social and will definitely be returning for more lessons. Thank you Fun With Horses for making such fabulous memories for us.

I had an awful experience with this vendor today. Cheryl knew ahead of time there was a better than 50% chance of rain at her location in Anaheim, CA (I saw 70% on
, she says 60%), and she chose not to warn me ahead of time that her horse riding lesson is cancelled in the event of rain. Where I come from all the stables have covered riding arenas, and I was surprised today to discover hers does not. I even emailed her the night before asking what would happen in the event of rain and mentioned there was a 70% chance for it, but did not receive a reply. It was raining when I woke up in Los Angeles, it was raining when I left home, and it continued raining the entire hour it took for me to drive to her location in Anaheim. After I’d already made it to Ahaheim her assistant called 37 minutes before the lesson was to start that they were cancelling. My four friends had already arrived.
It’s perfectly reasonable to cancel a riding lesson if it is raining and the lesson was to be held in an uncovered riding arena. What’s not reasonable is letting people find out there is a risk of this after they’ve already driven an hour to reach the location. Hers is the first weather dependent business I’ve encountered that doesn’t deem it necessary to warn its customers its services are weather dependent.
I really wish she would have allowed me to decide for myself whether or not to waste two hours of round trip driving time on the 30% chance it wouldn’t rain. Instead, she decided for me, and I feel robbed.
I would rather not do business with this person again.

So I wanted to do something fun and different with a friend so I decided to buy this deal on groupon. Picture DOES NOT do it justice. Riding in circles is not what I paid for.

I bought a groupon for my granddaughter for Xmas. She has always wanted to ride a horse, which was also my dream when I was little. I was truly impressed with Fun with Horses. Not only has she learned some riding techniques, she also learned the responsibility of taking care of a horse and the use of the equipment required to ride a horse. My other granddaughter decided she wanted lessons also. She is much more timid, but these lessons taught her to speak up, especially when trying to controller a big animal. They have both learned responsibility and the appreciation for horses.
I have also started taking lessons, as my goal is to own a horse in the near future. I did not realize how much you need to learn in order to care for a horse and to ride properly and safely. Sheryl has been working with me, and has taught me a lot. Yes, she does let me know when I am doing something wrong, but that is only because she wants us to learn to ride the correct way and how to handle a 1500 lb. animal safely. Sheryl truly cares for her students and staff. People who think they didn’t get what they paid for need to know that you just don’t jump on a horse and ride, there is a lot to learn.
I would truly recommend Fun with Horse to anyone who is serious about learning to ride.

If I can give her a negative 5 star, I would. This place is a disgrace.
Do not take your kid (s) here unless you want them to be treated badly by a loud mouth, tactless, RUDE, money hungry, and extremely disrespectful person named Sheryl. She is one of a kind. It’s a shame that she would walk around with a shirt says «For his Glory» while behaving in such ill manner.
I signed my kids up for the «city class» as was called by this Sheryl. The registration was unorganized. All she cared for is «I need my $ 20 fee.» «Did you pay?» «Did you pay?» Like a parrot, she kept on repeating that over and over again with an unnecessary level of loudness and rudeness. She doesn’t give you a receipt when you paid. Just grab the money (she literally GRABBED the money … like yank it out of your hand) and shoved it down her jeans pocket. Classless.
One of the moms asked Sheryl what is the $ 20 for. She rudely answered, it is for the kids to use the restroom, the water that she spray on the dirt when it gets too dry and the 5 pieces of carrots that she gives them to feed her own animals. WOW. This woman has the nerve. BTW, this $ 20 is addition to the class fee that we paid already.
Before I go on, I want to compliments the young people that actually teach the kids. These are very nice people. They are friendly, courteous and caring (except for one young girl … who I think is Sheryl’s daughter. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. She’s the only one that has an unpleasant attitude). The trainers themselves are young riders who are learning how to ride. Just like the rest of us, Sheryl treats them very badly. Yelled at them in front of everybody. Criticize them and treat them like they are nobody.
Unlike many Unilocalers here, I do not have a problem with my kids spend time grooming the horses. I think that teach the kids responsibility. However, I have a problem with the fact that even though each class is an hour long, yet, at longest, the kids get to ride on a horse is 3 minutes. I timed them. I know it was not longer than that. She let them kids get on the horse and walk around the little circle twice. On the 2^nd week, my boy gets to be on the horse and walk around the little circle ONE TIME. OMG my blood boil. I was so angry but I did not want to upset the already upset kid. I had to put on a cheerful face and tried to calm him down. After an hour there, this EVIL woman let the kids sit on the horse for about a minute. She is heartless.
The problem is, she is money hungry. She doesn’t put a limit on how many kids get to be in a class. She will pack as many of them in a class as she can like sardine. And she schedules a class every hour. Therefore, she has no choice but to short change the kids by cheating them of their experience.
Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. DO NOT SHORT CHANGE YOUR KIDS BY BRINGING THEM HERE. I recommend you take your time go there to see for yourself how Sheryl runs her business. If after 4 weeks of being there, you still like what you see, then disregard my review.

I had three different adolescents for my three groupon riding sessions — during which most of the time was spent grooming the owner’s horses for free, leaving about 20 minutes actually on the horse from a «60 minute» session. Sweet deal. Customers pay her money and we curry the horses and get them saddled. I understand that some people may enjoy that, but I requested that my third and final lesson be actually spent on the horse and that the horse be saddled and ready for me to ride upon my arrival. Not surprising, and in consistent fashion with the owner’s total lack of responsiveness on all prior occasions (I had to report her to groupon to get her to contact me so I could even schedule the sessions), my request was ignored and they were walking the horse back to the stable when I got there.
In response to Kathy K’s 5-​star review calling us nasty reviewers, «lame,» horse OWNERS do not «just walk up, jump on a horse and ride off.» But horse RENTERS do. I have never EVER at any riding stable been required to saddle and groom the rental horse — and pay for the privilege of doing so on top of that. Cheryl advertised her groupon as three RIDING sessions: not three animal husbandry /​care of horse sessions.
Oh – and by the way … the only time Cheryl returned any of the multiple voicemails I left was when I left a message saying I would like information for a birthday party for about six girls. Then she actually returned my call and left a message. hmmmm … interesting way of doing business. Advertise a great deal and then just never follow through with your prospective customers after you’ve already taken their money. Groupon’s email to her asking her contact me noted «another» customer needing her response — i.e., I was not the only one to have to resort to contacting Groupon to get her to hold up her end of the bargain.

Cheryl and the girls are all very nice! My husband and I topped by there yesterday to check things out and stayed almost all day. The kids taking lessons were well cared for, and got to learn all aspects of good animal husbandry AND ride.
These nasty groupon reviewers are lame. If you think you just walk up, jump on a horse and ride off, you are sorely mistaken. You get to learn how to care for a horse, build a bond with them for trust, brush the horse… this is all part of getting comfortable with a horse. I watched them saddle up their horse, then ride. I watched this all day… and you know what? NO ONE WAS RUDE TO ANYONE.
I highly recommend Fun With Horses… just make sure you know what the experience is really about. It’s not just riding… it’s a COMPLETE lesson.

«We do not have 10 yr olds working for us?! Who are you referring to? We do have jr staff who help out! However, they are at least 16 yr old!
As far as not knowing where to go?! There are signs posted! We also have a front office to tell you where to go!

Rude. I’m entitled to my own opinion. Shows what kind of customer service they really have. Yes, I purchased an adventure. I don’t believe riding in a circle is an adventure.
