I’ve been doing music for as long as I can remember. I started taking piano lessons when I was 7 years old, and was of course forced by my parents to continue — even though I hated practicing. Looking back now I’m so happy that they made me take all of those lessons. It’s because of their perseverance that I am the musician that I am today.

I’ve been with Guitar Center for just over three years now and I love it. Its a great place to help people make music and establish some great contacts at the same time. Our whole team here in Brea is awesome, and are always willing to help each other out. Plus, you can’t complain about talking gear all day!

I debated making a purchase tonight in the percussion department. After being helped by the percussion salesman, I ultimately decided not to make the purchase and informed the salesman the decision was nothing personal toward him. With an argumentative tone, the salesman responded, «It kind of is.» I’ve shopped at this Guitar Center for over a decade and have spent thousands of dollars on merchandise. This was the first time an employee displayed his displeasure of me not making a purchase. Like many, this was not the first time I’ve walked into the store and left without buying anything — it was the first time an employee was upset about it. Guitar Center was well below the bar tonight. After that interaction, I was happy to make my purchase on Amazon.

Took in three guitars and an amp to get fixed.
The guitar tech guy was super honest about everything. I had an electric guitar with some wacky intonation and he told me that it wasn’t that bad and all I really had to do was get some news lightly thicker strings and the problem would be solved. And it was. He fixed a bass guitar for me for no charge and gave me advice for my other acoustic because he told me the repairs would cost me more than the guitar itself so he said repairs wouldn’t be worth it. Thanks for being honest man. I was only a little bummed that he couldn’t fix my amp. They needed some special parts that they didn’t have in stock so they couldn’t do anything for me. Other than that I love this place

All these big box stores have basically the same shit inside them… the only real difference in my opinion is the people who staff them and this Guitar Center location has some really helpful folks behind the counter (I’ve been to the few others in the area). I would recommend that you see «Skippy» on your next visit, he’s quite possibly the most upbeat person you’ll encounter for a long while.

I just got an acoustic guitar from this location today. Their employees are quite friendly and funny. They are working really positive and willing to come up with choices to achieve my necessity. The guitar I bought is just an inexpensive, entry-​level one, but the employees I met still treated me nice and didn’t try to push me to get one above my budget.

Vince Cerrato provided excellent customer service. I was shopping for an accordion for my daughter. I was totally overwhelmed upon entering Guitar Center in Brea, California. Vince Cerrato spotted my dear in the headlights stare, and offered his assistance. He was very methodical, detailed, professional, and patient asking questions to narrow down the search. He ordered everything for me, and had it shipped to the store. The process couldn’t have been more simple… for me. My daughter is totally happy with the accordion. Thank you Vince Cerrato !!

This Guitar Center location is awesome! Great selection, great service, and friendly, professional employees. We recently purchased a bass and the guy who helped us was so nice. He is a musician and really knew a lot about the instruments we looked at. He took his time with us and helped us to find the best instrument for the best price. We appreciated his positive vibe and there was no pressure to up sell us. I give Guitar Center five stars based on this experience alone, but we have been coming here for years and have always had nothing but positive experiences! Yay Guitar Center! You have a customer for life in me!

Came here to pick up a DJ system that was ordered by another location, only to find out that the item was not available and the only one available was a display item. Abby took the time to call a list if stores to make sure we found an available one and Brent made sure to expedite the request, not only they worked hard to make it happen but they also made sure to get the right shipping and covered the charges that other store was responsible for.
They were apologetic for the other store’s mistake and made sure to give us excellent customer service.
Definitely returning.

I have been coming to this Guitar Center for over 10 years. They always provide great customer service and have great selections of music equipment! These days, I tend to order online and pick up in-​store since I do not want to pay for shipping, or have an item damaged in transit. Have yet to have a large purchase from Guitar Center but I buy all my accessories here (ie guitar strings, cables, music stands, and etc). There are always store associates around to help and never pressure you to buy something.
I did try trading in an immaculate acoustic-​electric guitar last year but they wouldn’t take it. Turns out the pick-​up wasn’t working and they wouldn’t take the guitar without the working pick-​up. Never knew since I don’t use the pick-​up. Every time I stop by the store, there are a few people here and there trying out guitars and amps. It’s a nice option especially for those who like to try before they buy. Their acoustic guitars are located in a humidified room to the left of the entrance, while the electric guitars are hanging on the wall right when you walk in.
Never had an issue with parking since there is ample parking, day or night. Not sure about the other stores/​restaurants in this plaza but the Italian restaurant to the left seems to be quite busy.
I know that Guitar Center now offers some free classes, not sure if any are offered at this location but I do like how Guitar Center wants to get everyone involved and reaches out. It’s not just a brick and mortar store, or an online store, but it also offers way for us to interact with them. That is the way a business should be.

The best guitar centet ever
Ive been getting my gears since 2006
Especially the store manager Erland is the guy you want to talk to.
I bought grestch renown kit, yamaha oak customs, and a CUSTOM DW 12 piece kit. And i cant count how many snares i got from him.
He is super cool and chill, always willing to help his customer out.
And His assistant managers are just like him too
Matt and Niko have so much knowledge about sounds, instruments, and most importantly how to save the money and get a right gear.
I had NO issue for almost a decade with this guy.

Btw Mr. Erland… a Fender Handle «Dogbone» is $ 9.99 …you said $ 60 to replace it. Shame on you, you should give the good example considering your position as Store Manager. Check Guitar Center website and learn the prices of your company

I went in looking for some new speakers but it looks like I will be going to their Cerritos store because never once did I see anyone in the section I was in to help mean noone ever approached me to help & I know I was in the store a good 20 minute or so. There was actually another guy in there and I was helping him by explaining some of the mixers he was looking at.
I was a little upset because I have actually been here before a few years back taking one of their classes they offer.
So oh well.

I went yesterday to join String Club…$ 20 to join and a $ 5 allowance each month towards the purchase of guitar strings.
There is a nice high end room, but most of the stuff is locked up. There are a few guitars on floor stands that you can play. The main floor has changed since I last visited. A few big displays in the center have been removed. So it seems emptier.
It’s cool that you don’t get hassled, and I found some good deals.

Ah Guitar Center Brea… what a disgusting place. You can pretty much smell the greed right when you walk in. Underpaid employees trying to make a commission off you buying massive amounts of items you don’t need. Capitalist oppression at it’s finest.
First off, Guitar Center is just not a nice place to ever find yourself in. They don’t sell great brands, you’re left with new stuff so it isn’t built that well (sans maybe the oddball and super cool Fountain Valley location), and you can tell the employees just REALLY want you to buy something. They’re always finding something that I need to spend money on that I didn’t know I needed to spend money on. Maybe it’s because they’re trying to scam me. And you. And everyone else. The fact that this place is legal scares me. Their business practices are beyond shady, but I don’t have time for that here, look it up.
Yes, there are some nice people who work at this location, but I can’t give an extra star to this shady business when the only good things about them are the people they hired and nothing else.
Bottom line: if you need a pedal or picks or pretty much anything other than a guitar, go to Amazon or even Jim’s Music in Tustin. And if you need a guitar and you’re buying it new from any of Guitar Center’s brands, than do some research and figure out why that’s a really bad idea. Quality control with the companies they sell is pretty much at an all-​time low. Go with something you won’t need fixed in a month.

Let me give you the typical run down of your visit to one of these shit holes. Lets say you go in because you need to buy some strings. Prepare for a 30 minute wait at the counter, and don’t bother asking the clerk for recommendations or suggestions, because these glamed out abercrombie models have no idea what the fuck they’re selling. You could tell them a stainless steel vibrator was a slide for a pedal steel and they would be impressed with your knowledge.
If you’re fortunate enough to be there on a Saturday every hour on the hour you’ll get the one kid who decides to walk in, pick up the pointiest guitar on the wall and proceed to plug it into the loudest full stack being endorsed by some jock chode that’s gracing the pages of the latest Guitar World. Your 30 minute wait will now feature in house entertainment as said kid will then serenade you with his rendition of one of the following:

There’s a plus side to this train wreck. You eventually do get your strings and you get to have a hot chick check your bags as you leave. It makes the accusation of being a thief much easier to cope with…

Wow haven’t walked into a GC for more than 2 decades. Time has changed. This place turned into the Wallmart of music stores. Huge selection but kind of drifted away from the business model I remember.
Nevertheless I promised my 12 year old daughter that if she got good grades she’d get a guitar. 4.0 GPA yahoo! Happy fathers day to me.
So we head over to GC in Brea to find a guitar. The older tech that helped us was very informative and wasn’t overly pushy. He suggested a rather inexpensive narrow body model that fit my daughter better and fit my budget too. He looked up the price and it was 20 bucks cheaper than the sticker plus I found an on line coupon for fathers day for an additional 10% off. 200 dollar guitar reduced to 145. I was happy and from the smile on her face so was my daughter.
When we got up to the register is when the bait n switch was applied. Would you like an extended warranty? Tuner? Stand? Pics? Case? Strap? Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope I repeated over and over to the kid working the register, but he kept pushing until my NOPE voice was a lot firmer. Then he backed off. As we got to the door the Costco receipt checker guy stopped us… WTF?
Still got a good deal on the guitar but boy GC sure has changed.
