Beaver Run Resort & Conference Center

I have been coming to this resort since I was a little girl with my church group until today, as an adult (25 years of coming to this resort). We stayed a couple times at different resorts and once renting a home, and nothing compares to this place. It has 2 pools (one of them ski-​in, ski-​out, one fully outside) and a ton of hot tubs, a huge game room with mini-​golf, a couple bars, a nice restaurant, and is huge– something for everyone. There is so much to do and you can get everywhere on the mountain and in town easily from here. It has been updated a lot recently, to the point that I barely recognize parts and looks like a new mountain lodge.
Building 4 is the newest and that is my favorite building as far as location (closest to the lift– steps outside of the door). We usually stay in a Building 4 Colorado Suite– it has a semi-​separate bedroom from the living and kitchen area making it seem like a one-​bedroom without paying the full amount for a one bedroom (I think it’s 650 sq ft). It is perfect for a family or a few friends going out, but probably not big enough for a couple families unless you were very close!
I’ve now been to a few group events here and it always seems like they go off without a hitch. The maintenance and conference staff we have dealt with are always attentive and quick to solve any problems. The best part is that most of the hotel has been completely renovated within the past year. Everything is new and fresh. If you happen to get one of the older looking rooms just ask for a new one!

We took a spontaneous ride through the mountains and came upon the Beaver Run Resort during the off season. We rented a one bedroom suite at a great price. The room was very comfortable with a wood burning fireplace which was a nice touch. There is a parking garage to keep you out of the elements so that was nice, it was snowing the night we got there (May 9, 2016). Did I mention the room was very comfortable and clean. What set this lodge apart was the staff. Alex Kim was very professional and welcoming. He gave us some recommendations for dinner and a list of places that were closed for the season. Overall our stay was great and I would definitely recommend this place during the off season or ski season.

We had THE BEST time here! We stayed two nights for the Mother’s Day weekend, and it was perfect! The kids were obsessed with the huge arcade and 9 hole miniature golf course, and the awesome indoor/​outdoor pools. We swam while it was snowing! So fun! The town itself is adorable with lots of fun things to do, but I just really enjoyed being at the resort. The food at Spencer’s was delicious, all of the employees are friendly and helpful (one took us to town on the free shuttle, even though it wasn’t technically supposed to be running, and the room had a comfy bed, a huge jacuzzi bath tub, and a cozy fireplace. Bravo! We’ll definitely be back for our next «stay-​cation»!

Our stay overall was good. The shortcomings of the hotel were somehow redeemed by the staff that was very responsive when we called. The first night, were were exhausted and dying to shower so we could get an early start the next morning. The tub wouldn’t drain because there was hair stuck in it. The housekeeper obviously had an issue with it and didn’t report it. She just left the stopper pulled out and didn’t put it back in. It was past 9pm so they had to get someone to drive over (or something like that). They offered to let us take showers in a room upstairs but we didn’t want to schlep all the way upstairs to shower, so we each took the fastest showers ever with the water barely draining. At least we got through the night. They came to fix it in the morning while we were out and they gave us a small credit to use at the hotel to make up for the inconvenience. Contrary to some of the reviews I read, the water pressure was perfect.
We were very glad to have upgraded to a one-​bedroom suite, and the hotel was nice enough to put us in a room with two queen-​sized beds so the kids (not little kids) could sleep on a bed and not a sofa sleeper. The room had a wonderful ski view. I do wish it had been on a higher floor as we could hear all the noise coming from the people in the hot tubs. We heard detailed conversations that we really didn’t care to hear. The hotel was also noisy in the sense that even late into the night we could hear furniture dragging above us and the thumping of people walking with ski boots. It didn’t help that we were right by the elevator, although that location was also convenient.
The hotel is definitely very dated. Our room was straight out of the 80’s. I had deja-​vu. The carpet, the popcorn ceiling, the antiquated furniture and lamps, bathroom tiles, and even the (Chrismas-​themed) décor was dated. We didn’t mind, though, and luckily we had read the reviews here and were prepared. We were glad to have a kitchen so we could get groceries and hang out in the room and make breakfast and lunch and even warm up left-​overs. However, the price is way too high for what you get. I agree that parking should be included, and there should be some kind of complimentary breakfast or some vouchers for the restaurants.
The layout of the buildings was very weird, and even on the sixth day I couldn’t get it straight. The parking garage was great and very convenient.
Skiing for us was sort of a nightmare because my son was in the care of the «dudes» from the ski school and he overheated and luckily I was taking a break from my wretched skiing experience and I saw him before he fainted. He was drenched in sweat and no one even noticed he was in distress. However, I don’t think the ski school is part of the hotel. And to their defense, they responded well to my concerns and even gave us a refund for my son’s lesson.
We ate at the Coppertop after skiing or NOT skiing) and the food was just OK. We had some chicken sandwiches that tasted like they had no seasoning, and the same for the chicken panini. I ate less than half of my food. For the prices we paid, I did expect more. So one and done. The rest of our meals were outside of the hotel or in our little hotel suite.
The room temperature cannot be controlled unless you open a window. It was very warm and kind of stuffy most of the time. We finally made a fire when it snowed, and that was quite beautiful for people who don’t live where it snows.
The convenience of the skiing was not worth it for us and we barely enjoyed the skiing. We found it way too challenging and mostly did other snow stuff near Breckenridge. The shuttle was really great and so convenient, but we were glad we rented a car so we could explore the surrounding areas.
We went to the Base Nine bar in building 1 and were able to have a drink while the kids played pool and board games. It was convenient to be able to have the kids with us while we had a cocktail and they had a shirley temple.
We did end up in the hot tubs on one of our last days there when we saw they were not crowded and loud for once. It was a great experience for the entire family as we’d never gone in a hot tub while it was snowing. The kids are still talking about it. Oh, and we made sure not to be loud like some of its previous patrons! We also went to the indoor/​outdoor pool. It was nice and not crowded at all. The locker rooms were very clean and more updated than the hotel rooms. There were plenty of towels. Unfortunately, there were no water coolers in the entire area. You had to either buy something from a vending machine or go to the nearest bar which was in the walkway not that close by. Or you could bring a drink from your room, but make sure it’s in a plastic cup.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably only return if we got a really good deal. For the little skiing we did, we could just stay somewhere else and save some money. Either way, we will cherish the memories made there.

Soo… let’s talk about how we spent a ton of money for a convenient hotel– but this place was anything but convenient. Charged for parking– on top of a ridiculous hotel price. Made us leave our skis down in this locker room… here’s the problem, you are in your ski boots and ski attire and you have to waddle up to your room to get your room key to use the locker. You then have to return the key back to the hotel after you come out the next day to collect your skis. I would rather just bring my skis to my room– thanks.
Let’s discuss the other disappointments of this hotel: the front desk personnel didn’t have a clue. The question– pretty basic– where can I go to get a coffee? You wouldn’t think that would be hard one to answer– but took quite some time to say «walk across the street to get coffee». Also, when I pay $ 300 for a room I completely expect some complimentary coffee. Finally, there are 6 hot tubs I believe– but wait… they only fit like 4 people and they were each completely filled with crowds upon crowds of children.
Good luck Beaver Run– I will surely not be staying at your facilities again. RIP OFF!

Rooms are cramped. The closet is just a small shelf. The «shuttle bus» service is dismal, the drivers Are too high to remember what stops people requested. Also, don’t even try to request a shuttle at 12:04am as its well beyond the midnight cutoff, apparently the bus turns into a pumpkin. Front desk staff are unhelpful.

I have stayed at the Beaver Run Resort a few times over the years including most recently over the Presidents Day holiday.
The good: This is one of the better locations in Breckenridge. The Beaver Run Super Chair is there at the resort and the Quick Silver Chair is just down the hill. The staff is nice and the pool/​spa area is nice.
The bad: The buildings are a maze; I swear you need a Sherpa guide to find your way around. The elevators are super slow. The rest of the property is a bit dated and it appears things like the furniture and carpet have not been changed since the building was built. The WiFi is flaky and very slow.
The ugly: Most of the time, their rates are WAY out of proportion compared to what you are getting. $ 700/​night for a 2-​bedroom condo? And, then they have the nerve to charge more for parking.

Nice access to the slopes and the rooms were clean but at this price point, $ 575 per night for a «Colorado Suite» I was expecting more. Bed not a Queen as advertised on website but a double. Pullout mattress worn with springs poking out. Dated feel to the place. Poor value.

Not happy. Cold air coming in through the fire place despite the flu being closed. We cannot even use the sitting area. I’ve actually had to block the entire fireplace with wood and towels. Earlier tonite smoke was entering through the fireplace. All we got was «temperature inversion». Room has been remodeled, but apparently no one thought temperature control was a priority.
So, update… The manager today very graciously moved us to a new room that does not have the same issues.

A bit expensive for a small modest room but you can bring beers to the hot tub outside at night and there’s a game room, and shuttle to downtown. Definitely would stay again. Great for families. Connected to skiing.

So there wasn’t a way to check into the Copper Top bar so I decided to write my review here. When we came in, the restaurant/​bar was bustling. Most of the tables were full, but we managed to still get stellar service. That means a lot. You will often have the experience that you just get neglected and or you have to fight to get your orders in, drink refilled, bill etc.
I had their handcrafted bloody mary with their regular vodka. They offer it with cilantro vodka as well as some other varietals. I like to just do straight vodka as a rule but it is broken every now and then (i.e. green chile vodka, mmmmmmm). My wife had a mimosa that was served in a «cute» glass so she was happy.
The thing that really impressed me was the amount of «salad bar» involved in the bloody. It came with a stuffed olive, a small corichon style pickle, andTWO pickle slices. That was an awesome surprise. Who doesn’t want 2 pickles? It was served in a large glass so it wasn’t wasted real estate either. Best bar to stop by if you are lapping Beaver Run on a pow day like we did.

The Pros: Great location by the slopes. Fairly close to Breckenridge’s Main Street (10 minute walk or a free shuttle). Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Bed was soft. There are lots of activities and amenities (indoor/​outdoor heated pools, hot tubs, game center, indoor miniature golf, bar and restaurants). The wi-​fi was good. The kitchen (sink, fridge, electric stove, coffee maker, and microwave) was small but appreciated.
The cons: Although well maintained, Beaver Run is a bit dated (it feels a like I time traveled back to 1980). The resort is large with multiple buildings and goes on and on in a manner reminiscent of the Maze Runner. The parking is very tight. I ended up parking some distance away in an underground garage (which was nice) and wandered through the convoluted hallways and floors of the resort to get back to my room. After a day you’ll feel like a local when you can give new guests directions. The resort does not even try to police the 15 minute parking space in front of the building so that you can conveniently load and unload your baggage and skis (a couple of vehicles had hogged those spaces overnight). I wouldn’t ordinarily care so much about the parking but Beaver Run charges $ 15 a day for the «privilege» of bad parking. The combination shower/​jacuzzi was a bit odd with a large round tub (think Hugh Hefner) with a wrap around shower curtain which comically covers up the faucet handles and soap dish. Because the tub and curtain is circular you can lose the location of the faucet without a GPS unit. The jacuzzi was in the middle of the room with two windows with internal blinds.
Overall, a great location, clean, but dated. I would recommend the place if you’re not paying the full retail price.

Now I see why this place doesnt get 5 star reviews. The staff was friendly and location was good, but you can tell this place is worn and dated. Just getting out of elevators, I felt like I took a trip back to 1990. The rooms were clean but you could definitely see some marks or stains on walls in some places. For $ 150 night with tax in the fall, it was a good deal. However, I would check out another hotel if back in Breckenridge.

One extra star for our view of the Rockies on the 8^th floor. Spectacular!
Otherwise…one tiny, shriveled star!
I’m going to sort of piggie-​back on the reviews of the other Unilocalers as they were spot-​on for a lot of what my boyfriend and I experienced staying for three nights at this time-​warped,
dump.
Let me air my grievances about Beaver Run, if you will:
#1 This is a very difficult place to navigate. I never got used it and we got lost more than once. There are several multi-​floor buildings that look exactly the same. Two elevators in the same building that don’t connect. Two elevators on each floor and one went to the garage… and that is as clear as I can describe it. What a cluster@#$k!
Are you with me so far? Because it gets worse.
#2 The free shuttle service «amenity». Our first day there we were going to use the shuttle service to take us to Main Street. We called:
Beaver Run: «We’ll be there in fifteen minutes!»
We waited… twenty minutes tick by… we call back: «Hi…we called for a shuttle twenty minutes ago. Are we in the right place? «
Beaver Run: «Yes. We’ll notify the shuttle service again. Please give us fifteen more minutes.»
Another fifteen minutes go by… nothing. We just wasted 35 minutes and it was getting colder and darker by the minute.
We give up and walk to Main Street. Why even offer the shuttle service if you aren’t going to do it?
#3 The rooms. UGLY and DATED… college dorm rooms from 1985, but a bit larger! It was clean, but the beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were useless. I woke up with a headache every day because the pillow was so flimsy and did not support my neck. I will say that it was warm, but be warned, there is no A/​C because you at such a high altitude. So if your the type of person that gets hot easily, you will have a bad time.
#4 The NOISE! OMFG the noise! You will not sleep well here not only because of the uncomfortable beds, but also because of the thin walls and the double-​joined rooms with your new neighbors. You can hear EVERYTHING! Every cough, people peeing in the toilets, kids yelling, slamming doors, OBNOXIOUS frat boys talking about their «a$$holes (no joke). It sounded like people were in the room with us. Ear plugs don’t help and we had to whisper so strangers couldn’t hear our conversations. What a nightmare! We had no privacy!
#5 The buildings and the décor are straight from the 1980’s Even the Musak playing in the lobby was crap straight from the 80’s-Carly Simon and Little River Band. The outside of the hotel buildings looks like one of those huge, bland, ugly apartment buildings you find in the former Communist Bloc. The carpet is stained and the wallpaper is peeling. This hellhole is doing the minimal effort to keep from being classified as a slum.
And last, but certainly not least…
#6 The customer service. There is none.
The resort is not centrally located, so be prepared to walk or drive or wait for a shuttle that never comes. When you get finished visiting town, be sure to give yourself a good twenty minutes to get lost trying to find your room and the staff to ignore you. From there you can take the elevator straight to Hell.

We were checked in very quickly for an overnight stay. We arrived to a very nice large one bedroom condo. It was nicely furnished and comfortable.
Beds were comfy and the room well sized. The layout can be confusing, so we went down a couple of incorrect hallways and boarded the wrong elevators. Use your hotel map to stay oriented. Over good resort.

From our first interactions with the front desk staff, we knew our three-​day family getaway to Beaver Run would be a truly wonderful experience. And it absolutely was!
You cannot beat the location of this resort, just blocks away from the town of Breckenridge (including the free gondola!), although Beaver Run operates a reliable free shuttle run by friendly and punctual staff if you’d prefer not to walk. The ski lift to Breckenridge is literally steps away from your front door!
The Beaver Run facilities are clean and beautiful. We stayed in a suite with three bedrooms and a kitchenette, which was ample space for hours of family fun by the gas fireplace. We were even able to cook meals in because the kitchens are stocked with pots and pans, dish soap, paper towel. Beyond your own room, the resort’s amenities are unparalleled (e.g. an arcade and miniature golf attraction, multiple indoor/​outdoor pools and hot tubs facing the gorgeous Rocky Mountains, impressive restaurants, a small, but sufficient fitness room with an ice water machine… much appreciated!). And every staff member we encountered, even the cleaning staff who were working busy to keep all the rooms and amenities impeccably tidy, always greeted us and asked how they could make our stay more comfortable!
Highly recommended!

Staff was very kind. Accommodations were really good in the black diamond suite housing 13 of us. Quite the varied crew.
Our personal bathroom had challenges. First the sink refused to let its stopper sit letting the water go down the drain. We had to force a stick nearby into the drain to keep it open. Why was the stick there perhaps?
Second to last day three our toilet wouldn’t flush. Personally I love bring able to control air and light separately in a bathroom with separate switches. One controls both — on or off.
Tons of stuff for families. Huge arcade. Decent pool. Multiple hot tubs. Great couple of bars on site — one that looked like you can chill. The other with a little more action. There was a spa. A tennis court. Basketball court. One grill to accommodate all those guests. Kinda of odd. Who was cleaning that bad boy?
Location is perfect. Not a bad place at all just dated

This was our first visit to Breckenridge and Beaver Run and I must say we were very pleased. From the minute we walked into facility and our room everything was clean, neat and perfect. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help out with whatever you needed or asked for. The hotel providers a bus service to and from town including City Market for all your grocery needs. Each bus makes stops at each building so there is no need to have to walk to the main building just to catch it. Also once in town you can use the phone number on the back of your room key to call them and arrange a pick up. We never waited more than 10 minutes for the bus to arrive and pick us up which was great in the cold ski weather.
The room we stayed in was a Colorado suite in building #4 and was super comfy and cozy. We had more than enough space to feel like we were right at home including a huge tub, small kitchen and warm fireplace with fire wood provided. The staff kept the room organized and clean each and every day with no issues what so ever. The best thing about building #4 is that everything you need is there including a convenient locker room for all your gear on the bottom floor. Once you put your gear on its a simple thirty foot walk to the other side of the locker room where you can walk out the sliding glass doors and onto the slopes. From their its approx 100 yard ski down to the main area of the slopes including the first lift. This building provides the best opportunity for ski in/​ski out skiing. Building #4 has its own pool and large hot tub so you never have to walk to the main area to enjoy the hot tub after a long day on the slopes. Just simply leave your gear in your locker sneak up to your room to change and back down to hit the hot tub for a awesome soak!!!
Like I stated before I would not hesitate to stay here again and I plan on it next season. I will most certainly make it a point to stay in building four as so you should too.

We stayed here recently during the off season. All the snow is gone, but our main focus was cycling. I can imagine this place would be a great location for skiing. The complex is huge with several buildings of different sized rooms, a small grocery store, game room with miniature golf, six accessible hot tubs (they advertise seven, but the seventh is out of reach in the spa area) and a good sized indoor — outdoor warm pool. We made our reservations on Hotwire. It is their off season so we expected some good deals … overall the price was fine. Still, the place is so huge, it felt empty and quiet. No amount of requesting would get us an upgrade (instead it would be $ 30 extra, $ 10 per night). Whatever.
The reason for the three stars is the hotel’s service on two separate occasions. Because we booked on Hotwire, we had the smallest and cheapest room. Not bad for a couple of nomads just wanting somewhere to sleep and shower after cycling most of the day and hanging out downtown after. The thing is, do not even try asking for an upgrade (it was so dead, yet they would not give in). Also, none of their rooms have king beds (unless you go über expensive). However, the queen beds were comfortable and the room was pretty spacious.
Secondly, the first day we came home after a long day of cycling and our room had not been tidied. We called and requested a service, twice, before they came. Also we had a service request, the tub would not drain. Hope that is eventually fixed for the next guests.
Over all location of the hotel is pretty good. We have stayed at a few closer to Main Street, but I cannot complain. If you are skiing I can see how this would be a great location. The parking garage included with your stay was convenient. For our needs, the location was not bad. We still drove downtown but did not really need to. It’s a 10 minute walk down a small hill. Doable for most.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice our room was given the somewhat unfavorable reviews about it being outdated. We stayed in building 1 on the first floor. Could not have been better for skiing! We could walk right out the front door (automatic doors!) and either across the street to the Quicksilver lift or up to the lobby to the Beaver Run Super Chair. They offer ski lockers but we kept ours with us in case we wanted to go on Quicksilver first. Either way, at the end of the day you pop off the skis and walk across the street to your room!
The room seemed to updated but I wouldn’t call it modern. It had plenty of closet and drawer space for the two of us with all of our winter clothes. The beds were a bit too soft for me, but that’s just personal preference. The bathroom was plenty big and the hot water was quick to arrive (very important in the winter!).
My only complaint was that the apres ski area, Coppertop (?) bar, did not have a happy hour special. WTF? So instead we skied or walked down the hill to the base by the Quicksilver to The Maggie which had music and drink specials. The market had good breakfast specials and were reasonable.
We didn’t check out the hot tub but it was right under our window and looked great! It was a tad noisy in the morning with the ski shuttles running by, but we were up by then anyway.
