Good atmosphere but mediocre food. I used a coupon to buy dinner for 5. We were seated quickly and the waitstaff were attentive if a bit over friendly. The menu is uninspired and the preparation lacked any flair. No attempt at local or seasonal food even though Brentwood has a vast array great local farms. For instance all the appetizers featured fresh tomato in March so they were predictably bland. The tapenade that came with the bread tasted a little off. None the less we had a good time as the restaurant is quiet even with a full house and the tables are not too close together.

This maybe my go to place for Italian food. My mom and I went in for lunch today. We are both picky about our Italian food. The bread was nice and hot. The place was quiet. No loud TV’s blaring in the background. Our entrees arrived hot and steamy. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. It was full mushrooms and yummy sauce. My mom ordered chicken risotto. It had tons chicken and mushrooms. I will definitely be going back.

We had sea food pasta and halibut filet that was a special for the day. Both dishes tasted good. Sea food pasta was loaded with sea products incl. crabs. Halibut filet was served with polenta and green beans, delicious! Very small portion, which I prefer. Excellent service, waiter was very friendly and polite. The only complain we had was the check. These two meals and one iced tea came to almost $ 80(plus tip). Nice outdoor sitting, relaxing atmosphere in downtown. We went there for lunch during a week, do the parking wasn’t an issue.

This place was pretty good when it first opened about a year ago. We were so happy to have a new restaurant in Brentwood. I think they got a little cocky with all the influx of business and started taking short cuts and raised their corkage fee from $ 10 to $ 15. This isn’t SF folks. Some of the better wait staff have gone and the last waitress we had acted as though she was doing us a favor. Food quality and service have declined. Hopefully, they can get it together. Don’t know that I will return anytime soon.

Great food, great service, no complaints. Happy to support our privately owned restaurants other than all the chains here. I had the veal and the sauce was amazing! Husband had lamb and loaded with meat. We will definitely be back!!!

One star is polite only because service was fair. Starting with atmosphere– very basic. Service was fine– but then again we got there at 5:30 on a Friday. Food– horrible! This place is one step below Olive Garden. Bland, under cooked, sauce from a can, better sausage on a Round Table pizza. Don’t bother with the Lamb Ossobucco either. Very plain and small serving.

Made reservations for 7:30pm on a Friday evening and arrived a few minutes early. We’ve eaten here at least half a dozen times before and been very pleased… in the past. There’s not much atmosphere but the food is quite good and service in the past has been pleasant and efficient. Tonight was a totally different story. When we arrived the small restaurant was fairly full but most tables had either been served or would soon receive their dinners. We placed our order within 10 minutes of arrival. I think our waiter decided to avoid us when he realized our dinners weren’t coming out. The waiter whizzed by a couple of times with a brief barely understood explanation. Our meals arrived 55 minutes after we ordered in what was now an empty restaurant. Not acceptable! We were frustrated and hungry. I wasn’t looking to be comped but for a reasonable explanation. Just not a good experience. We won’t return because of our disappointment. Too bad. There are so few non-chain restaurants in the vicinity.

SKIPIT! I don’t have complaints about the service, but the food was absolutely horrible. It all started with the water that tasted like it had Clorox in it. When we complained and asked if the water was filtered, we were told no, then yes, but obviously, it is NOT. On to the salads. My husband’s salad was swimming in Vinaigrette and my Blue Cheese dressing was extremely«tangy» — too tangy for my taste. Again, not what one would expect from a restaurant so highly touted. I chose the Scampi Roma which again, was an odd dish. It was in a Pesto sauce, but it was virtually swimming in the sauce, which probably contained olive oil and butter as it was separating into little fat bubbles. The Angel Hair was skimpy and lost in the sea of sauce. Again, this dish was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this dish. My husband had the meatballs and pasta — this is an Italian restaurant. This should have been one of the safest dishes to order, right? Nope. The sauce had to be old as it was thick and lumped on the plate. Again, the pasta was lost — I don’t understand why the chef chooses to skimp on pasta! Neither dish tasted good and overall, I would never recommend this place to anyone! We’ll never be back — ugh!

The waitress was unprofessional or just didn’t doesn’t know how to be a waitress in a «niceish» restaurant. One water had a bug in it. They brought out a crusty bread with the smallest bowl(seriously, maybe 1 tablespoon) of marinara sauce. When we asked for more sauce she told me to hand her the tiny bowl. Most waitress’ would just bring another to the table since there was a little left in the first one. After we drank our bottle of wine we needed some real food and looked at the clock… it had been hour and thirty minutes since we had ordered!!! We asked to talk to the manager and they sent out the bus boy. I guess the manager was cooking since a cook had to go home due to a family emergency. It would have been nice to know that it was going to be that long of a wait, we would have gone elsewhere. The manager never came out. Nothing was comped. They told us 45 minutes into the wait that they were out of lasagna. The artichoke pasta and the butternut squash raviolis sauce was very watery. The mushrooms in the butternut squash tasted strong of alcohol. The linguini with clams had small clams that looked like what you get in a can. Maybe they weren’t, but chance are… they were. There were 5⁄6 clams in the shell. None of us will be going back.

Excellent service! Small little gem. So happy to find Italian food in a good location! It wasn’t excellent but it was good. It wasn’t the Stinking Rose in SF, but it did the trick for Italian food. It would be great if they had garlic mash potatoes, and lava cake. I’d recommend it. We were pleased with our meal. $$$

Before I get on to my review I need to address the numerous complaints(some of which have been deleted) of customers not being seated when there were four or so «open» tables. I stress that I have no connection with anyone who works for Chianti’s, it is just my comment. I make it in the form of a story. A couple of years ago Judit and I entered a restaurant to have dinner. The host looked dubious and did not think he could seat us. I stared at him, the place, and it was big, was almost empty. He checked through his book and could not seat is due to reservations. Well, we can eat at the bar I said/asked and he nodded. Half an hour later I looked around and there was not an empty seat or if there was I could not see it. The moral of the story is that an empty table is not necessarily an open table. For various reasons it took us quite a while to try Chianti’s but it was worth waiting for. You walk in and leave the suburban strip mall behind you. It is a nicely put together restaurant, not flashy, just right. We were a bit early but were seated immediately. Judit ordered the chicken picatta and I had the lamb shank. The first thing that I noticed when my meal was delivered was that there were some baby carrots in the vegetables. Real baby carrots not the fraudulent ones sold in grocery stores that are just chunks of adult carrots. Sweet and delicious and I would have been happy to make a meal just out of them. Delicious asparagus spears, not the tasteless things often found, added to the enjoyment. The lamb was fine but not any better than I expected. Judit loved her chicken picatta. She wondered to me why chicken could taste so good here and ordinary or worse elsewhere. Then came the tiramisu. Absolutely scrumptious, first class with a nice alcohol bite. Why not five stars? That I keep in reserve for the very very special. I would have to challenge the $$ rating and make it $$$. If you just look at the cost of an entrée, yes, that works. But add in the cost of a glass of wine, a shared dessert and you are over $ 60 for two people. Add in an appetizer or salad and it is well over.

Visited Chianti’s recently, and although our service was pretty horrible for a nice restaurant like this, the food outweighed it and I would definitely come back! This small, more up-scale restaurant is a little lost in the shopping center that it’s located it, but it’s a great addition to Brentwood’s almost exclusively chain options. I had the chicken Gorgonzola pasta, and it was delicious. It would be hard for me to go back and not order it again. Everyone I ate with enjoyed their food– although the spaghetti and meatballs didn’t seem too amazing. The negative– and very negative– part of my experience here was the service. We were seated right away, but without menus. And after a few minutes, we had to ask someone for them. We then sat for a long time without anyone taking our orders. Once they did, we let the man who took the order know that we were really hungry and we would love some bread(which everyone else who was seated seemed to have). That still didn’t come out for a long time, I am pretty sure they forgot. We never knew who our actual server was, since he was never at our table. We had to ask a bus boy for drink refills. I don’t really complain about service at a restaurant unless it’s really bad, and this was pretty darn bad. Especially for a restaurant with maybe ten tables, where it’s easy to see when guests are looking around for someone to help them. I will definitely give it another try, they definitely have some awesome food!

One does not have to actually try the food at the restaurant to leave a review. There is more to a restaurant than just the food and if you cannot even get in to the restaurant to try it due to a lack of professionalism, care or tact, well then you deserve the 1 star review. Negative reviews can some time be B.S. but so can positive reviews.(I’ll get to that in a moment) Reservation for this place made a day in advance for two people. Situation changed where our 5 year old daughter needed to join in. Seating hostess refused to honor the reservation. Now, I could understand this if they were going to seat the party at a table for 2, but the ONLY tables available were 4 person tables. Someone please explain to me in a «mature» sense the logic of that? The manager was talked to, he said he would«try» to accommodate but did not do anything. First off, there is no «try» in business. You either do, or you don’t. Try is a cowards word, in it contains the intent to fail. If this was the end of the ordeal I would end it there but it gets better… Decided to share the experience with my exclusive group of friends on FB and it turns out that a family member of the restaurant owner is on my friends list. Ignorant messages from this individual ensue. I am a cruel and nasty person for sharing an experience with my friends on social media… those sort of experiences are only for Unilocal. Oh… hey, well thanks for telling me that, as you can tell by my profile, I have NEVER heard of Unilocal before… I’m still trying to get the hang of this social media thing. lol. Despite non-emotional attempts to explain why this person and their family were in the wrong it was far easily for the individual related to this restaurant to cover their ears, flailing on the ground screaming«I’m rubber you’re glue, neener, neener, neener.» Furthermore I am from this town, born and raised, and I own a very successful business of my own SOLELY dependent on customer service. I am the most patient and understanding person when it comes to excuses as to why things happen in business. Things will go wrong, there are people out there who will be dead set on not liking you and your business… that is the nature of the beast. BUT as a business owner you are responsible for your own actions or inaction and if you«release the hounds» on patrons who have a dissatisfying experiences versus to seek out the basis of their discontentment and make changes to insure that it does not happen again, THAT is the mark of a true leader and successful business owner. Now knowing who these folks are that own the restaurant, I can name all of the people who have reviewed on here that are perpetuating the immature business practices.(Spoiler alert: They are the ones talking rudely about those who have had negative experiences and have only a couple reviews) This is what I spoke of earlier in regard to fake reviews and come on… seriously? Grow up. Focus on your own experiences people… you’re only making the restaurant look like they are parading their friends and family around to «defend their honor.» TIP: You wouldn’t have to «defend» anything if you treated people respectfully. Sounds like your food is good. That is amazing, good for you! You may want to work on your customer service so that people get to try what your friends are raving about.

Great authentic Italian dishes. You start with warm bread and some marinara tapenade. The bruschetta, meat ravioli and pesto tortellini were all delicious. The pesto compares to some of the best places that I have been in the bay area. Very quick service, to be expected because the inside is a little small. You may want to consider reservations but once you are seated it’s great.
