I went to Brentwood to visit a friend. She was throwing a party and since I live over an hour away, I wanted to stop by the grocery store to pick something up to bring over. My son had to go to the bathroom and as we were walking towards the women’s bathroom a man whizzed over in front of us, literally cutting us, and walked into the women’s bathroom. We waited for about 15 minutes waiting for him to come out. I hesitated, but decided to use the men’s restroom, as my newly potty-trained toddler was beginning to cross his legs. Just as we were about to walk into the men’s restroom, the man in the women’s restroom came out. We attempted to go in after him, but it was impossible. He had completely blown up the bathroom. I’d never smelled anything so dense and horrible in my life. We rushed next door to the men’s restroom and my son was able to go. Yay! After using the restroom we went to the deli and bakery area. I saw that they had this area where you can scoop your own chicken wings up. Pretty cool, I thought to myself. Maybe I’d bring those? Then, the man who had blown up the women’s bathroom pulled his cart up to the chicken wing area and proceeded to put his hand in(without tongs) and hand pick his wings. I wanted to puke. I hope to god that he washed his hands. Even so, there was no worker in sight to monitor his inappropriate actions. We settled on red, white, and blue sugar cookies. They were super yummy, and that’s what the two stars are for.

I wanted to give a five star to the bakery department. I needed a dinosaur scene cake for my sons birthday, they looked at a picture of my idea and made it perfectly! He loved it. And the cake was delicious, everyone was asking where I got it from. We will be going back for all our birthday cakes.

If I was rating purely on the store, I would give you more than one star however the fact I have to plan my outfit according to your insane air-conditioning is ridiculous. We appreciate the great wine selection and having the store so close to home however if we can’t visit without a parka, it simply is worth the trip and the higher cost at Raleys down the street. TURNDOWNYOURAIR!

Overall this Safeway is clean and well stocked. The employees are always nice and seek to be happy. I do notice that they tend to discontinue carrying items regularly. I’m not sure if this is due to the actual product or the person who places the orders but it tends to be frustrating. Hence the 4 stars. Also, all the Starbucks employees are super friendly.

It’s usually extremely clean and well stocked. But today a strong smell of old fish and meat hit me as I walked in the door. The fruits were old. The chicken smelled like it had been sitting in a smokers house .it even smelled the bag and my truck! I was super shocked! I didn’t really connect it to the chicken until I came home. I will be taking this back! What happened to my favorite store???

I have been shopping at this store since Nov. 2013 and it’s always been very hit or miss customer-service wise. But, in the last 6 – 8 months, it’s been steadily improving. I’m pretty happy with this store at this time.

I usually have a grocery shopping routine. My wife makes a list and I go to trader joes first because their pricing and customer service is very good. Trader joes will ring their bells for more checkers when they get out of hand. What this Safeway has done to me two times, two different assistant managers, one Hispanic male, one white female took a shopper in back of me to get in a new line after I waited for a while, that would make anybody angry after waiting for long periods in line. I spend $ 1500 a month alone at this Safeway and less at trader joes even though I get more at trader joes. Also the Starbucks in this Safeway always has a problem with their espresso machine. Most likely I’ll switch it up and go to trader joes and fresh and easy/rayley’s.

This location is the best in the Brentwood/Antioch area! Everything is very cleaned and organized. The staff is super nice and helpful. The produce is not always good for the price you’ll pay, but this is rarer. I like the Starbucks location inside the store. Wish there was more staff cuz the line is always too long. Their bakery is the best. Everything so fresh and yummy. I usually order special multigrain with sesame bagels! This is so good

I do agree they are a bit under staffed but we like everything else about this safeway much more then the 2nd Street one. Produce seems to last longer & many more choices all around.

Very clean Safeway! The beauty section was brightly lit and really nice. I found everything I needed fairly quickly.

Always have friendly helpful people there. Pharmacy is great, the kids at the deli keep me stocked with fried chicken. What’s not to like?

Unilocal needs a zero star option. This safeway needs: 1. More staff on checkouts 2. A front end controller who will answer calls for an override. 3. Staff who actualy come when paged to checkouts. Whole experience here was a joke. Needed 4 items. 1 was not available. Of the 3 that were, 2 did not scan and needed to be checked… After a 5 minute wait, assurances from me to «forget it», a line of angry and hostile shoppers(no other checkout was open in the middle of the day)… cashier checked it herself, and then left to retrieve supervisor card for the code override because they were busy having a chat a few registers down and refused to respond to her request. Management need to take a look at this front end system, because your customer service is LACKING.

I would suggest keeping staff away from customers that don’t have customer service skills. When you shop at a store weekly and the Cashier doesn’t greet you, thank you or put your groceries in your cart, you question why you’re coming to the store in the first place. There are at least five other grocery stores in town. For a grocery chain that just got acquired, you have some work to do in terms of educating staff on customer service skills. I like this Safeway. Sandwich area is nice, I’ve never had a bad experience with them making my sandwiches before. Be careful if you come during peak hours,(i.e. Lunch time) you might spend your whole lunch waiting in line. Other than that the Starbucks area is small, but serves its purpose. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable! The bathrooms on the other hand, are well… Not amazing, let’s just say that. Items here are a little pricey, but I feel as if the quality is good. Depends on what you like.

This review is solely for the Sandwich area and can be quickly changed or deleted if Safeway wishes to compensate me. First of all, this is not my first Safeway sandwich. My family and I always get them. With four people in line, it took me over 45min to get a sandwich. Two different customers behind me passed me in line. One of the ladies working must have been new because she had no idea there was an «all meat» sandwich on the menu. I continued to tell her how to do her job and she ended up giving up during it and letting another lady make the sandwich instead. There is literally 5 ingredients to make my order. Anyways, I get it, everyone is new at one point in their career, but the fact that you can’t look me in the eyes when you are dragging a** during peak lunch time hours is very frustrating. No «sorry for the delay». Safeway is losing tons of money for employing terrible workers during peak hours. I’d opt for something else if they were working again.

got a friendly«how u doing?’» or something like that from an associate walking by. not sure why. maybe cuz asian shoppers. are an anomaly here. store is huge. hard to see where the beer section was. way in the back on the back wall lots of specials posted.(actually most items overpriced). brew: Sierra Nevada«single hop ipa» 4.99 on special.(raley’s regular price) –brewed with equinox hops, strong hoppy taste, slight bitterness, nice bite. drink within 100 days, «fresh hop» production? think so. –semi-large selection of microbrew. 3.5 stars take outs: –cashiers, associates always friendly(though underpaid) –corporate safeway stinks, lucky’s(new owner) worse.

Safeway has a big tendency to have only one check stand open even when there’s a huge line. There was about 7 people in line before they even called for another checker. I’m not blaming the workers but the Safeway policy(I used to work at one). They even had self check out that wasn’t open. The whole point of those is to help reduce line and help those with one or two items, so why even have them if they aren’t on?!

This safeway is doing so much better, they have more natural/organic products now & the prices are better than the prices at the Discovery Bay Safeway. Some things are kind of a ripoff, and you still have to be careful, but otherwise, the selection is pretty good & the produce is a lot fresher & there’s more organic stuff here too! Keep up the good work!
