Straw Hat Pizza

This place is dirty. This was the first time my husband went inside this establishment and he was disgusted. He told me to never order the food here again. I’ve been here a few times and it was dirty in the past too. It’s disgusting! This will be our last time to patron this place.
There seem like there were adequate number of people working and the place only had approximately seven customers eating at that time. Some of the workers were chitchatting and goofing off. They could’ve worked and cleaned up the place instead. There was sticky soda and some vegetables from the salad bar on the floor. No one cleaned it. The ordering counter looks dirty and unorganized. A man was making the pizzas etc. in the kitchen and used a towel to clean off the ingredients from the pizza making counter onto the floor. Why couldn’t he clean off the ingredients onto a tray instead so that it’ll keep the floor cleaner? We don’t understand. Also, the people making the pizzas, etc. does not wear gloves. Hope their hands were clean.
We were contemplating to leave and not order anything but since we were there we ordered the pizza twists. The twists were piping hot when we received our order and it tasted good so one star for this. My husband refused to eat it though. So sad that this place is dirty and unprofessional.
Hope one day I will hear that this place will be sanitary and the people will change their work ethics then I will return to patronize this establishment.

Dearest StrawHat management and employees: thank you for your quick and efficient service. We have always had good pizza delivered quickly to our table.
But hey … What’s up with your very Strange and extremely antiquated décor? Why do all of the framed pictures collect webs and dust and look so sun stained and faded? Why do the booths look like rejects out of a 1980s diner /​the Saved By The Bell restaurant? Why are tables that have been empty for tens of minutes ignored /​dirty… giving newly entering guest their first view of spilled soda, cups, crumpled napkins, plates, and left over crusts. Sitting down to an apparently clean table to find crumbs Left over from the customers before … Floor not vacuumed or swept? Windows unclean? Greasy fingerprints smudged across all glass dividers…
A LOT of room for serious improvement and new pleasing aesthetic detail ! Bathrooms seem to be well kept, but other public areas ~ not so much. However, as stated. The pizza and quality of what we order has always been good … Just the dining area it’s self seems so neglected and run down… Thanks for your time!

Great location and a good pizza. This place is a little expensive so i only come out here when I visit my family in Brentwood but I did come back because their wings are delicious so don’t forget to check in and get your free wings

Last Saturday was the first time to this location, I’ve dined at the Pleasanton and (old) Santa Cruz location many times. When we walked in it was surprising how few of people were there for a Saturday night. Anyways after we ordered our pizza, the manager or shift lead (guy in black polo), came out to get a beer for my bf. While he was getting it, my bf was looking at pictures and descriptions of the appetizers and commented how the garlic twist things looked good. The guy said he would bring some to our table to try. I just thought that was really nice! He didn’t have to do it, but I’m glad he did. They were delicious! And our pizza was awesome. Yeah they’re on the pricier side, but they are very generous with the toppings.

9÷13÷15 we got here a little after 6pm couldn’t find any big table that had been bussed or cleaned, so we got 2 smaller ones, pizza took about 30 min usual, we had like 3 orders, one of the pizzas was never brought out, we kept asking about it the guy said yes, it’s coming, after about 20 min more we asked the girl, she said they were gonna make it, they messed up somehow I guess? Didn’t give an explanation, after another 20 minutes and watching everyone else’s order in the whole place get brought out, we went and asked, they say oh we’re gonna make it right now? I’m thinking Lol really! Are you serious? That large pepperoni pizza that was for our other table, 2 kids and a senior that were hungry and waiting patiently, came here because the pizza was good, here this was the result, we got our money back, I also do believe the owner was there! FU€# this place! make a senior and kids wait and give excuses, FU€# you! I’m never to return again, and the can’t go to the one in Antioch that one they burn the pizza and the place is dirty. Pizza Hut out here I’m done!

People are nice but this place needs a serious cleaning. Tables, salt shakers, and napkin holders are disgusting. Carpet is stained floor filthy… don’t understand how a restaurant can be left in this condition.

This is the second time I eaten here this month and both times there were dirty florals and a white film that I could scratch off the glass with my nail. It was disgusting. I told the ginrl breanna that I needed and clean cup and wanted a paper one she got mad and rolled her eyes and then turned back around after handling the cash in the registrar and didn’t wash them! She then grabbed my pizza dough and started making the pizza as soon as I asked her about it she was rude and disrespectful to me and wanted to argue with me. Aside of all that the pizza dough has changed or they give you less dough, now the dough is thin and light me and my family don’t care for it anymore, it’s to bad they used to have really good pizza.

I wouldnt even give it that. Friends baby shower there… rude manager — wouldn’t listen without talk over… he didnt even try to have any quality customer service. Under cooked pizza. Uncleaned tables. Some of the silverware and plates still had dried nasty food on them. Bathrooms were filty. wouldn’t replace toilet seat covers because he said they clogged the toilet. At one point ladies bathroom ran out of tp and we had to get it from the mens room. Just know to check it out before you stay. BEWARE. Hopefully they get a new manager or just close its doors.

This pizza place has a nice comfortable atmosphere. It’s huge inside with tons of seating and a separate area for party’s. Small game area, but the games are old and out of date. The service is always very friendly and helpful. I especially like their sandwich lunch specials and of course the pizzas are great. Kids love coming here.

I gave it 2 stars based on the convo I had with the manager tonight.
I’ve been ordering from this place for years. Always delivery. Tonight I called and placed an order like I normally do. I guess the gal was new because she had to ask her manager if they delivered to Bethel Island. I thought it was weird since I always call for delivery out here, but hey… whatever.
The manager gets on the phone and asks if he can help me. I told him that I just called to place an order for delivery and the gal had to verify if they could deliver to Bethel Island. I told him I found it odd since I’ve always had my pizza delivered.
He said it would be an extra $ 5 on top of the $ 2 charge. I just mentioned that I’ve never been told that before. No attitude or anything, I was cool with it.
But he cops an attitude and says «well it doesn’t make sense for someone to drive all that way for just a $ 2 charge…» And he kept going on his rant. WITH an attitude. Whao Nelly. Pump the brakes and take a chill pill.
Again, I told him I was cool with it and just said I haven’t heard of that before.
I almost told him to cancel my order based on his attitude. If that’s the leader, then what is he teaching his staff???
Also makes me wonder how many other patrons he’d copped an attitude with regarding this topic, or heck, any other topic. Wow… makes me seriously reconsider ordering from that particular location in the future.
For the record, our deliver guy was awesome. Working his tail off while just getting over a cold.

Ordered pepperoni olives and mushrooms but they were out of mushrooms. Also ordered a small cheese pizza. Both to go. Neither pizza tasted very good primarily because there was very little sauce. The final blow was the total cost for both pizzas was $ 37.
I honestly believe we would have been more satisfied with a couple of Winco pizzas from the grocery store next door. I can’t imagine a scenario under which we would go back.

We gave this Straw Hat location another try recently for dinner, and we had a MUCH better experience. I immediately recognized the same cashier from our last unpleasant visit a few months back; however, this time around she was welcoming and helpful. Our food also arrived in good time, and the salad bar was stocked with fresh breadsticks :) The soda machine was out of Coke, and an employee immediately refilled it. Much improved. Glad to be able to come back

Ordered a spicy italian hot hat-​and had to send it back 3 times. It was on a Saturday afternoon and maybe my order got mixed up with another order? There were a few kids baseball teams in there and they had alot going on. Normally I like going-​hopefully it was an off night.

By far the worse dining experience. Definitely a kid’s eating place. Dozens of children running around screaming, completely unsupervised. Just because there are a handful of lousy arcade games does not mean the rest of the diners are comfortable eating in a loud, disorganized, chaotic, child-​centered low budget chuck-​E-​Cheese.

Usually Strawhat has decent pizza. But today this place sucked! Paid $ 46 for a large pizza, 2 salad bars, 2 sodas and 2 kids sodas. The pizza came out and looked odd to me. Like the veggies were still raw. The crust was white, instead of a nice golden color. Took a bite and noticed that it was barely warm. Took it back for a refire, looked a little better but still not hot. Last time coming here, for the money ill go to Mountain Mikes, at least their pizzas come hot out of the oven.

This was actually my third and final visit.
We visited on a Saturday night, with a birthday party of 25 – 30 people that we reserved the party room.
1) Party room was stuffy, despite multiple requests to control the atmosphere.
2) Did not have any «available silverware». When I ordered my salad, I was asked if plastic fork was ok as all the silverware was being used, and when I responded that I would prefer a real fork, the staff did accommodate me, but returned with a wet metal fork 10 minutes later. When I went to the bathroom to get a paper towel to dry it, none. After hunting down a napkin, I find there are no trash cans in the restaurant. When I ask about a trash bin, I was politely showed the out-​of-​site 12 inch cylinder behind the soda machine.
3) Salad bar was poorly managed. We needed to request someone tend to the bare salad bar. They did, and it was relatively prompt, but it seemed like forever after my fork incident.
No silverware.
No salad in salad bar.
No trash bins.
No management over 22 years old.
No thank you.
Too bad, I actually kinda like their pizza, but service and atmosphere trumps food every time. Silly, right? Or is it?

I am a lover of pizza. Me and pizza are one. We have legit cool friendship, but for the past few times I’ve come for pizza here, me and pizza become sworn enemies.
I think the people who work at that Straw Hat really need to take the negative reviews into account because if they just fixed the problems, it would be a really great pizza place.
This is why it got a one star:
x The quality of ingredients used to make the pizza is comparable to Little Caesar’s and that says a lot. The dough tastes like cardboard, so dry and so crisp that you wonder how it’s possible they didn’t burn it. The sauce is mediocre, it’s a little bland. The toppings are just there. You either get too few of what you paid for, or too much where it’s completely overpowering the pizza.
x The layout is really bad. I just don’t get what they were thinking and when they modeled it originally. It just makes no sense to have a raised seating area in the middle of the entire restaurant with the saddest looking pizza bar you’ve ever seen (and by pizza bar, I mean a tiny little plate-​warming bar where you can take a slice of pizza off a whole pizza). They have seating around the raised seating area and then a somewhat decent arcade section for the kids, but why do you need a raised circular seating area? It just makes no sense. I think if they eliminated that seating area, and had a better layout it might make coming there a bit more appealing.
x The people who work there are rarely efficient, when you order the food you can see the kitchen and you’ll notice all the health code violations instantly, some people can’t multitask on the register and that ends up in a long wait and sometimes even on a non-​busy day you’ll find yourself waiting for 45 minutes for a sad, miserable, lifeless pizza.
If you can get better pizza at Little C’s for a fraction of the cost, then your pizza is crap and the recipe needs to be revised immediately.

Yikes, never again… disorganized and poor customer service. Would not recommend to anyone… downloaded their coupons for a 3 large pizza pick up. when i got their they stated that only one of the coupons applied to the pizza order and that they would not honor the remaining coupons. Spoke to the teenage manager who was clueless, she stated that the coupons should not have been on the website. Hello? How could they not be on your website…
Received the pizza and it tasted like cardboard with cheese. Will not return to this establishment.

IT SUCKED!
I came for a friend’s event and was a tad bit leery. You know what they say, ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!
While it was very nice that the whole party was treated to unlimited drinks, salad bar and a plethora of pizza, it’s my duty to break it down for y’all…
Drinks: Standard, nothing special. Not sure about the beer but the water was filtered and the soda was apparently soda.
Salad Bar: More like SADlad Bar! All I saw was lettuce, some dairy, a few veggies that I thought was odd being there (i.e. baby corn), bacos and dressings that had bits of something in them that could not be identified. I went for the less odd dressing, ranch, however it still managed to have diced sweet pickle in it. Now I’m confused!
Pizza: Think CEC where a kid can be a kid and not care about the quality of the pizza. I think one of the partygoers put it best when he said it was like pillowy crust with sweet ketchup masquerading as the pizza sauce and less than desirable toppings.
While the event was lovely, the food, cleanliness of the place and staff left more to be desired. I’d rather go to CEC where at least they know the pizza is bad.

This place is OK, I guess. The menu isn’t explanatory and we had to ask about the lunch buffet. It wasn’t on the menu for some reason so many people in our group thought they were getting one thing when they were getting another.
We used the large room for large groups and it was freezing and we had to turn the channel on ourselves.
The pizza good. Average pizza. I didn’t have the salad bar. I just don’t trust things called sneeze guards. Its a personal thing I guess. Nothing spectacular. I still like Round Table Pizza better.
Mostly teenagers working there. There was a lot of rolling of the eyes going one while they were busy. It must be a childhood thing not yet lost.
Average pizza place and priced so so for what you get.
