Specialties

Located at 39 Center Street in Brewer, Next Generation Theatre is the local provider of affordable artistic entertainment and education for children and adults in the greater Bangor/Brewer area.

History

Established in 2007.

Next Generation Theatre’ chidren’s program was founded the summer of 2007. The first theatre class was taught in June of that year with only 6 kids. Our theatre opened on August 17, 2007 with our first public performance, in the theatre. This first musical production, with a cast of 15 local children was Wind in the Willows. Since then we have grown to involve over 200 kids in our theatre program.

At Next Generation Theatre, our goal is to make theatre accessible to as many young people as possible. We strongly believe that involvement in the arts at an early age is very beneficial. We want our students to leave our theatre program with higher confidence and new skills. Above all, we want to encourage all of the kids who walk through our doors to: «Dream big»!

Meet the Business Owner

Tracey M.

Business Owner

Tracey has enjoyed music, dance, theatre, and art for as long as she can remember. Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, she had many opportunities as a young child to be exposed to the Arts. She moved to Maine in 1988 and noticed a need for more opportunities for children to be involved in the Arts. It wasn’t until 2007 that she was finally able to make that dream come true. With the help of her teenage daughter Lexi, who shared her passion, and their friend Jamie, also a H.S. student and aspiring filmmaker, they began the dance and acting studio. Today, with more than 300 children taking part in the classes offered and shows performed, her goal has been exceeded. The venue she built 3 ½ years ago has now become a performance spot for many local, talented musicians and performers of all types. Tracey believes that all this can happen without breaking the family budget, and she strives to keep these programs affordable to all income levels, without sacrificing quality.
