Only had the lobster roll so far was very good but too small. Staff was very nice that makes a big difference. Seemed to be clean as well. Will go back and try some of the other food all looked good.

I’m always excited to try a small business in my hometown. This place is surrounded by a bunch of old buildings in a pretty desolate part of Bridgeport. The shop itself presents as welcoming and neat. I came because of its high rating and because I love seafood. Since this was my first time, I decided to try for what they’re known for: a hot, buttered lobster roll. It was surprisingly small even though the price wasn’t outrageous(12.75). I would have been okay with the size if it tasted better though. It was seasoned pretty well so I’m guessing that the quality of the lobster was the issue. That and I wasn’t really feeling the bread. I would have preferred a simple hot dog bun. The fries were fresh, crispy and pretty tasty though. I may come back to try something else on the menu. My first instinct was to go with the fried calamari… Maybe I should have stuck with that.

I like it. Six properly fried blue point oysters with fries for $ 8.99, stuffed mushrooms shrimp or clams for a $ 1.50 each. Ambience is lacking and it’s only counter service available. I’ll definitely be back!

It’s what’s on the inside that counts. We went there for lunch to dine in. Ordered lobster rolls with butter and also a half dozen raw oysters. Sweet, friendly service and the lobster rolls and fries were awesome. From the outside it just looks like a store in a business/industrial area, on the inside it is good foods and sweet service. Would definitely come back.

Excellent find!!! We were on a wild goose chase and came across this place totally by accident. I call it divine intervention. Some of the freshest cooking you will ever get. The soups were awesome. The softshell crab was delicious. The shrimp are fantastic.

— Usually I have a problem with seafood restaurants because they over charge & give you little food but this place that wasn’t the case I ordered the 6pc shrimp with fries the shrimp were a really good size. Some places you order a basket of shrimp and they look like mini popcorn shrimp! so I was happy about the amount of food I received for 6.99 plus fries & a drink my meal totaled to 9 $ ! That’s so great I can’t wait to go back and try the lobster Roll.

I was craving a lobster roll, too bad there aren’t many options near Bridgeport. I drove to this place after reading the good reviews, but a «great experience» is far from what I had. The people there were friendly which I love in a restaurant, but the lobster roll was not of quality. I asked for my roll«to go», it came with french fried and I ordered a side of 6 hush puppies. The cook put the butter directly on the roll. By time I made it to the car and opened it, the roll was so drenched with butter it was soggy and inedible! I literally threw the bread away and just ate the lobster with the fries. The lobster had a couple chunks of lobster but most of it was minced. blahhh! The fries were okay– just okay. The hush puppies were huge… But a little dry. Sorry– but this did NOT satisfy my craving– and left me in the hole $ 16!

Friendly staff and great fries, worst lobster roll I’ve ever encountered. The meat was chopped to a sausage consistency, no butter to the roll. I had two bites and pitched it in the trash. I would say it tasted like old lobster sausage with a found meat consistency.

Incredible value! Very good fish and chips and raw seafood. I had a dozen of Blue Point oysters for under $ 10 extremely fresh. Very fresh seafood in the seafood case. The Asian calamari salad was just amazing. Hi Diane it was a pleasure meeting you thank you for making us feel at home!

Best fish and seafood market in the area. Smells the cleanest out of all of the(very disgusting) fish markets around.(But obviously it’s still fishy, since you know, they have dead fish lying around) Came here for lobster rolls, which, btw are soaking in BBQ sauce. I thought that was a cool southern take on lobster rolls, which can be refreshing on the east coast, and found it delicious; my friends, not so much. Nonetheless, the area is just(sketchy, abandoned?) warehouses, so to no surprise we had a little mouse visitor, under our table. Poor guy wasn’t doing to well, and was a baby, so I felt bad. Mouse aside, it gets 4*! Because they have fresh lobster at 6.99/LB and fresh blue crabs 12/$ 20. We got some to cook at home and they tasted delicious. I don’t know if I can stomach eating at the joint for a while, but I’m definitely going back for the fresh shellfish!

Delicious until I found a hair in my Mac and lobster. Never again. Plus had to get take out be because no air conditioning. That should have been the hint to pass on this place. Really a seafood place with no air! Ugh.

I wanted to love this place so bad as I’m a huge seafood lover but this place missed the mark. Went in on a Sunday afternoon place was empty and looked like they were getting ready to close. I ordered the fisherman’s platter and two stuffed mushrooms. Total was just over 20 bucks so price was fair imo. Ordered to go took about 20 to 25 minutes for food to be ready. I got home opened the big Brown bag and was impressed with the amount of food in the bag. The biggest let down for me was the amount of batter used to deep fry the seafood it’s about 2 inches thick of flavorless batter I literally had to pull all of the thick almost burnt crispiness batter off of the food in order to enjoy it.

Excellent food! The lobster mac & cheese was wonderful. Lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had! Don’t let the décor scare you off. It looks like a fish market, but they cook seafood there, too. The food is so good and the service is so good that you will not even worry about the décor. It is an adventure!

I just bought a fish sandwich and I have to say it was just okay. The lettuce tasted like it was going bad, which didn’t help matters. The fish itself was seasoned and crispy. Not sure if it’s just me, Or if things have changed here. I will try it one more time to be sure before I wrote this place off.

This is a unique place but one that I like to find. This place has been under new ownership since November and the young man who owns it along with his Dad is very interesting and knowledgeable. Since it was on off time of day 3pm it wasn’t busy so he was able to spend time with us educating us in the difference between Canadian & Maine lobster and the difference in meet quality. Also the lobster rolls in CT is made with butter but Maine & other parts are done with mayo. They source the majority of their products locally including oysters & clams. I had the fisherman’s platter which was very tasty. I split it between fried and sautéed. The oysters and fish I got fried and the shrimp & scallops I had sautéed. I like the mixture of breading on the fried selection as the Panko added extra crunch. I preferred the lobster Bisque over the chowder. The lobster roll was tasty, meat was tender and lightly done with butter, giving you the full taste and body of the lobster. Lobster roll was served on a fresh Portuguese roll, made from a local baker. This is worth a try for sure if your in the area. Price right service quick and knowledgable.

While searching for a location to satisfy my craving for proper fish & chips over the weekend, two factors loomed during the hunt… Quantity and condiments. Don’t get me wrong… Taste/flavor was, and always will be, the primary requirement, but on this day in particular those two factors kept pushing to the forefront. Luckily, while in Stratford visiting a good friend, we agreed the hunt would focus on the Stratford/Bridgeport area and that’s when we came across this diamond in the rough on Knowlton Street in Bridgeport. The location is very unassuming and would be easy to miss, but what lies inside is pure bliss. To start, it’s a full-fledged fish market where you can score a bevy of fresh sea dwellers, including wild or farm raised varieties. With that said, don’t mistake this place for a restaurant with seating for 100; it has a counter-top dining area with seating for roughly 10 – 12 people. Staff was very friendly and patient as we tried to decide on what to get. We were a party of four, so we decided to split Hush Puppies and the Lobster Mac n’ Cheese… I opted for the Two Piece Fish & Chips and Oyster Po-Boy Roll. I failed to ask about the serving size, one of the factors I was key on, but I’m happy to report that the servings were huge! Breaking off a piece of the fish had the flaky and juicy texture I was hoping for, and the taste itself was excellent… That lead me to the second factor, the condiments. The fish, by itself with no dressing, was superb with the crust, but the inclusion of their tartar sauce blew me away. Things got even better when one of the staff suggested we mix the tartar sauce with Sriracha… Wow! The Oyster Po-Boy was equally excellent, fried to the right consistency and not rubbery like other fried oysters I’ve tried. The roll it was served on was soft and lightly flavored with no extra filler; this lead to some serious tarter+coleslaw+Sriracha action with lemon. Finally, the Lobster Mac n Cheese was beautiful… Über-cheesy and with just the right amount of Lobster to give it that seafood taste without overpowering the already delicious cheese. If you’re in the area, make the detour and visit this gem… Really wish it had a bigger dining area but I noticed a lot of folks grabbing food to go while we sat and ate. Eating at any seafood restaurant always poses the question of freshness… When you step into Bridgeport Lobster & Shellfish, you can rest assured that freshness won’t be an issue!
