History

Established in 1997.

Howell’s Jamaican Restaurant and Bakery opened in 1997 and is located near downtown Bridgeport. Since then, Restaurant owner Harris Howell has been serving quality authentic Jamaican dishes.

Howell’s restaurant is primarily take– out based, but offers customers the ability to sit and dine as well. The options are endless, from breakfast, lunch and dinner to our wonderful bakery.

I must say I was surprised by the size of the place. The food was good but it needed more seasonings. I had the pepper steak with rice and cabbage and the oxtails. Both the pepper steak and oxtails were very tender. If you’re a rice lover you’re going to love the portion size of rice you get. The staff was very friendly which was a positive plus. The place was clean and neat — ++. Can’t say anything bad. Although a little under seasoned I would go back again. I hope they succeed far into the future

A+ Jamaican food served here! I had the Brown Stew Chicken with Rice & Peas and Cabbage and the meal was excellent! I drank some homemade Sorrel Juice with it and that too was great. I must warn you that it is heavy on the ginger which I like but it might not be for everyone.
There are alot of the other staples on the menu that I will definitely come back for. Overall the restaurant is nice and clean and the food was good thus far. I would definitely recommend to anyone that likes Jamaican food. It’s also nice to not have to go across town for it!
