Specialties
The Barnum Museum is committed to the preservation and interpretation of Bridgeport’s industrial and social history, as well as being an outstanding educational resource for students of all ages. Our collection ranges from a hand-carved miniature circus to a mummy donated by P.T. Barnum’s wife, carriages made for Tom Thumb to furniture by Poitier and Stymus.
The current exhibition, «Recovery in Action!», located in the People’s United Bank Gallery, allows visitors, students and scholars a rare glimpse into The Barnum Museum’s visible storage area to witness the tornado recovery process first hand. The 5,000-foot gallery now houses thousands of objects that were out-loaded from the Museum’s historic building for safety and conservation following the June 24, 2010 tornado.
