Yikes. Came here for dinner with my fiancé tonight, Mexican is a staple food for me so I have high expectations of it. We were giving this place a second chance because we had a bad first experience here, & this time around was just as bad if not worse, service was slow, waitstaff was not friendly, I ordered a chalupa and the chile poblano(chile relleño) and a beef taco; the chile was mushy like a cheesy goop, the chalupa was fine he completely forgot my taco. My fiancé ordered the chicken flautas and he was VERY disappointed they were bland chicken with no flavor the side of guac that came with brown and old… overall very disappointing, I think two chances is enough, def better Mexican places around, I would skip this one.

Three locations later and I am still not a fan of Chimi’s. I have never had their margaritas but I am doubtful having them will change my mind about this place. I don’t remember what I had the first time I have ever set foot inside a Chimi’s but I do remember the food being very average tasting. The second time, I had some chicken enchiladas and I still was unimpressed. This time, we noticed that this location is open while looking for a lunch place close to work so we decided to give it another go. I ordered pollo fundido: grilled chicken with sauteed peppers and onions with cheese sauce all over served with guacomole, pico de gallo, rice and some flour tortillas. First of all, the dish contained the minimum amount of grilled chicken on the plate covered with light cheese sauce, lots of sauteed onions, red and green bell peppers, a small side of rice and an excessive amount of flavorless beans. The guacamole was showing some slight discoloration on top which made it look quite unappetizing(I did not touch mine) and the pico de gallo also looked a little sad with wilted looking tomato chunks. The service was fine. Food arrived to the table quickly and the drinks were refilled fast. No main issues with the service. The restroom stalls could use some toilet paper refill. I went into a stall and there was not a single roll of toilet paper. I tried the next one and still nothing. I got lucky enough to find the 3rd one with a meager amount of toilet paper. I laughed a little while in there remembering an episode of Seinfeld with Elaine and the woman currently dating Jerry in the episode who did not want to share even a square of toilet paper. Anyway, I surely hope that wasn’t the norm for this location. The restroom was visibly clean, at least.

The quality and value has decreased exponentially since opening. We will be finding another go-to for our Mexican fix. Margaritas still good but not worth the drive for us.

The ambience is overly bright and a little loud, but the food and service are great. We got in without much trouble on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy, but there was no wait. Margaritas by the pitcher are a bargain and the salsa is fresh with a little bite. The menu is extensive with standard Mexican fare and house specials. We enjoyed the nachos deluxe, chimichangas and enchiladas. The chicken used in the nachos was very nice chicken breast. I’ll definitely eat here again.

Came on a Saturday evening with a short wait to get seated. Salsa was delicious, made fresh in house every day. Tortillas chips also made in house and have always been served warm. Ordered chicken soup, which had about 8 to 10 ounces of chicken in a HUGE bowl with wonderful seasoning and spices. A bit on the hot side which I really enjoy. The others in our party had the Cheesy Chicken Chimi, Chipotle Chicken Chimi’s and Enchilada and Chimi combo and each one enjoyed their meal very much. Euclides was our server and was attentive and charming.

After driving to our favorite Mexican food spot on cinco de mayo, we found that it was a line out the door! So we drove up the road and saw this Chimes location. Now I’ve been to the one in Overland, so I was skeptical. Oh well, we wanted margaritas, lol, so we took a stab at it. They had outdoor seating and was getting a bit crowded, but we got seated quick. We ordered and had drinks and let me say this was far better. The food was good and so were the drinks. I played it safe and got ground beef fried chimi with rice and beans. Vince had a tacos. It was really good! Big difference from other location. Only thing I didn’t like was that our server forgot about us several times, but I understand that it got busy and so I’ll let him slide. I will be back.

Have you ever eaten somewhere after hearing good things and then feel like you’ve been tricked? Let me preface all of this by saying that on both nights I visited, the service was impeccable. Five stars for the customer service. My first visit was one evening after an 11-hour workday with some coworkers. Margaritas & tequila, yes yes! We all had margaritas and they were amazing! A few days later, I noticed a Groupon for this location so I thought, what the heck and I purchased the deal. Here you will find the standard Tex-Mex menu; combination platters, enchiladas, tacos, tortillas, and the Americanized items like chimichangas, nachos and fajitas. On my second visit I had a chicken quesadillas; and while the ingredients were noticeably fresh, there was so much cheese I couldn’t taste anything else but the cheese. I don’t like really thick slices of chicken so the fact it was thinly sliced was great for me. Unquestionably, this place is better than the ubiquitous Taco Bell and it is also wallet-friendly. Not stand out, not better than some other Tex-Mex chains but not horrible either.

When you find a place that serves great food, prepared properly, served by happy helpful friendly people why would you go anywhere else… The guacamole was fresh, the salsa tasty with just the right amount of picante, the combination fajitas(pollo, carne) were excellent, perfect sizzling portions served on fresh green and red peppers, caramelized onions and the accompanying beans rice and pico de gallo were simply stated … Great. The menu seemed complete, the value is good. I’m certain Chimis will become the go to place for good authentic Mexican food in this area. Try it, you’ll like it

Place is brand new so restaurant was clean. Staff very friendly and food was excellent. Came for lunch on a Wednesday so it wasn’t crowded. The typical chips and salsa was better than most, salsa is on the spicy side but I like spicy, wasn’t over bearing. Ordered the fajita chimi… comes with rice and beans that were better than most. The chimi was way above average. I will definitely be back.

Really great food and service! Guacamole was very fresh and nicely seasoned. We ordered Carne Asada and some kind of burrito supreme(the husband). The salsa was fresh, just a little too spicy for my tastes. The wait staff was friendly and apologized for our food taking so long, even though it was what i would consider a normal wait time. Definitely a good replacement for El Maguey around the corner, which is smaller and has a constant wait for a table.
