Description

Specialties

Redlefsen’s is an eclectic European restaurant with heavy leanings on German cuisine. The restaurant has romantic lounge with double sided fire place and wingback leather chair. European drafts on tap. Plus a delightful view of Bristol Harbor and Independence Park.

At lunch the Ultimate Grill Cheese with fig jam and goat cheese is a must. For dinner Wiener Schnitzel and Pecan Encrusted Pork Tenderloin with a Maple Cream Sauce are house favorites.

History

Established in 1989.

Founded in 1989 by Jens & Marie Retlev in the Harriet Bradford hotel, Redlefsen’s was originally a 45 seat restaurant. Jens being a Swedish born soup chef son of German immigrants he brought some wonderful eclectic cuisine to Bristol. Jens sold Redlefsen’s to Walter Guertler in 1993 and he continued the traditions Jens started by hosting one of the greatest Oktoberfest traditions in Rhode Island. In 2000 Walter was asked to move as they were going to renovate the Harriet and he could not stay through the demolition. He discovered a piece of water view property downtown being sold as warehouse space. He renovated the former Narragansett Beer Distribution Center /gas station /Church /dog groomer /cheerleaders rain day practice spot, into a beautiful restaurant. In 2007 his son Jeff Guertler joined the family business and Walter is semi retired only working 40 hours a week now.
