Out for a ride in our convertible, on a beautiful Fall day. We found ourselves close to our second favorite coffee shop on the planet. Always a good time at Java Junction.

Went there this morning with my biker bro and ordered Aunt Javas breaskfast and a cup of Costa Rican recommended by a waitress who is a sweet hippie. Great place to mellow and bunch of nice framed photography.

Java Junction is easily accessible and located right on Main Street Brockport. You’ll find a mix of college students, professors and local regulars all dining in this one spot. It’s like a microcosm of Brockport’s unique college town in a melting pot. The biggest draw here appears to be the soups and coffee. I recently gave the vegetarian chili a try and it was tasty. However, I would probably order something else next visit. The other diners at the table ordered some variation of their soups and stews and everyone was pleasantly pleased with the options chosen. Java Junction is quite busy and rightfully so. It serves as Brockport’s local coffee bean and eatery.

I enjoy strong coffee and Java Junction coffee suit my taste. The people there are friendly and I enjoy the atmosphere. Only wish that they improve their interior design a little bit.

I didn’t know what to expect from this place. I met up there with my professor and classmate and wondered if they’d have anything other than cold sandwiches, based on the name. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they have a sizable menu with lots of vegetarian options, and several specials each day, which they are apparently known for. The ambiance was great — made me feel like I was back home in Portland, Oregon — classic wood coffee shop homey-ness. My café au lait was heaven on the rainy Autumn day. I had a special; a veggie wrap with all kinds of veggie deliciousness, blue cheese, apples, nuts… and a cup of vegetarian chili. Very good. And huge. Had to take half of it back home with me. Stoked to find that they had table service. And our server — a slender taller gentlemen — was awesome. Walked me thru all my pesky questions and was super patient with us when we kept talking instead of ordering, and then being in a hurry. I’ll be back!

«Coffee: the finest organic suspension ever devised. It’s got me through the worst of the last three years. I beat the Borg with it.”-Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager. I highly doubt you’ll be fighting Borgs or other alien beings in this Coffee Shop, but you will be trying to lunge for a seat when this place is busy because the students know it’s good, the townies know it’s good, and the coffee fiends know this place is legit! Here are things to take away from this place: The workers: they all look chill and laid back. The majority of them look like they are fans of grateful dead, or some post hippie chillax band; in particular one dude who always wear a dyed t-shirt. He knows his coffee MUST try the Hungarian mushroom soup, this is the» Coup De Grace” the«signature dish» to any who is famished and looking for something near haute cuisine at a coffee shop near the canal. They sell coffee beans, the good stuff. Their bread and bagels are great, unfortunately no lox, something I wish they had.

This is our second visit, but the first for lunch. They have a nice variety of coffees, including some sugar free flavors I’ve not found elsewhere. The Black and Blue burger was excellent, with a great side salad of mixed greens. The specials looked very interesting, particularly the soups. The exposed brick wall and tin ceiling give the place a comfy atmosphere. We certainly will be back often.

I love supporting a local business rather than a coffee shop chain, and the coffee and espresso they serve here is tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and there is always space to hang out and drink your coffee(or eat a meal). The décor could use a little freshening up. but the main reason I can only give Java Junction 4 stars is that they only have skim or soy milk for espresso drinks. Not all of us are on a fat-free coffee diet! A latte isn’t the same without at least 2%, if not whole, milk.

If you’re looking for a coffee shop that offers a great selection of fresh-roasted coffees, both by the pound and in the cup, along with snacks, soups, sandwiches, and breakfast, served in a small-town, friendly, casual, style, you can’t go wrong here. The coffee — a wide variety of coffees, from the usual to the exotic. Cheap for dine-in or take-out. By the pound(or half pound, or whatever quantity you need), available ground or whole bean. Their pound prices are about the same as you’d pay for«premium» whole bean/ground coffee in bags at the supermarket. The food — great selections for breakfast and lunch. Favorites include the rotating selection of soups and the perfectly-cooked bacon. The service — I’ve noticed the service is kind of reflective of the customer. If you’re the type of person that likes friendly, engaging service, where the server will remember your order and suggest certain things each time you come in(either with coffee or food), they’ll do that. If you’re looking to be left alone and read or study, they’re perfectly happy to drop food and leave you alone, too. The atmosphere — more welcoming to families than your typical hipster-filled big city coffee place. They have crayons and coloring books for kids and a good selection of kids’ favorites on the menu. Very laid back and casual. Like a great kitchen table at home, but with better coffee. Prices are more than reasonable; we can usually eat breakfast(family of 4) on weekends for less than $ 25. Chances are you’ll spend less then $ 10 per person.

I have been here 3 times and absolutely loved the coffe, chai and lunches. I think I could eat here everyday! Everything is so fresh and made to order. I’ve had the eggplant parm sandwich and vegetarian wrap. Both are amazing. I don’t think I can ever get sick of going here.

When proprietor Pete Apicella decided back at the dawn of the 90s to juggle his role as bassist in local ‘Dead tribute act the Psychedelic Roosters with some notions about starting up a café in this sleepy college town, Java Junction was born, giving slackers, students, caffeine nuts, and acoustic musicians alike a cozy and welcoming HQ. It’s always been a comfortable spot – clean, well lit, and with some nice preserved décor touches peculiar to many Victorian buildings in this ‘burg on the Erie Canal(brick walls, pressed tin ceilings). Sumptuous wood appointments just add to the feel of the place, and tasty coffee and pastries complete the experience nicely. Perhaps best of all, the community of regulars here are always good for some warm conversation, and you can catch a wide range of musical acts on the small storefront stage in the evenings. Good times…
