McMenamy’s Seafood

I’ve never tried this place before and finally tried it because so many people recommend it. Was NOT let down in the least. Price was a little more than I expected but was well worth it. Forgot to ask for extra tartar sauce but didn’t matter, these guys ACTUALLY give you enough for the portion. We will definitely be returning.

First time I went here everything was fine, food was alright, not the best and we had decent service. I recommend the clam strips and fried shrimp combo platter $ 19. So why the 2 stars? The second time, I order for take-​out on a Tuesday night. I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes and since I live down the street I left a little later in case it wasn’t ready yet. I arrived to pay and was told my order by the rude cashier that it wasn’t ready and the cook had «20 orders right now.» By the time I paid, it had already been 30 minutes. Finally, 45 minutes later I left with my food and had lost my appetite from waiting. 45 minutes for take-​out on a Tuesday night is unacceptable. I also did not see the same staff from before, the people behind the cashier were rude and didn’t seem to care that my order took that long. If I had a choice I wouldn’t come here again. I rather drive out the town to get some good seafood than go down the street to McMenamy’s.

I’ve driven by this place so many times and always said to myself… nope! Then I had the pleasure of moving out here (Stoughton) from the city and Simcos was the favorite…
…Simcos who!?!
My fiancée and were running errands in the city and she had a seadfood fix… me being a Chef my whole life am picky as hell, but thanks to Unilocal we decided to give it a shot.

The freshest seafood, affordable, awesome service, huge portions… and yes folks. they even serve drinks!
Folks.theres nothing else to say. ill post the picks I took but youd be crazy if you dont pay them a visit… I know ill be back.

If I could give a 0, I would. Went into this establishment on a weekday. It didn’t look busy, but me and my husband stood and waited to get greeted for over 10 minutes. I really wanted seafood. A waiter saw us, but never said anything to a greeter. Rude!

We had high hopes but were ultimately let down. This restaurant is right off the highway (route 24). So over the years, I’ve driven by this restaurant a zillion times.
The good: they have a very large variety of seafood to choose from. Everything one could want, Whole Belly Clams, big beautiful Scallops, Shrimp, Fish and so much more. The order process is reasonably simple and if you don’t see what you want on the menu board (it is a but overwhelming, as there is so much to choose from), you can make it up on the fly and they’ll charge you accordingly.
Tip: If you signup for the text marketing, they will give you a free cup of chowder.
The less then good: the chowder was cold :(
The plate was underwhelming. Loaded with fries and only a handful of Whole Belly Clams and only a handful of Scallops. Not at all what I was expecting for $ 30+. Getting tarter sauce was quite difficult as well. I had to ask 2 times then finally gave up and went to counter and stood there until I got some. I felt this was quite odd, given it was off hours and almost no customers were there.
We won’t be back any time soon.

Ate here tonight and it was delicious, but 20 minutes after eating it, I was very very sick and so was every one else who ate with me. Beware.

A lot of seafood for the price. I do think it a bit expensive but the food it good. Also should try their lobster rangoons!!! So good!

I really did not like the people there specially the owner he ask girl to make out with him he stand behind the young girls that work there and put his hand on them in an inappropriate way his friends go there and star make sexual comments hes always drunk and make sexual coments all the time iam afraid for the kids tha go there hes always close to them and people dont realise what hes trying to do watch out with this place

I never have a bad meal here. Everything is fresh, the staff is so personable and friendly and the beer is ice cold. Rivals any seafood place on/​near the water. Family owned and operated too.

Went to this place on a Sunday at about 6. The food didn’t hit the table until 6:40. (There were only 2 tables ahead of us) The lady said it took so long because they were changing the oil but who knows. I ordered the clam strip basket. It was very good for a fried plate. My friend ordered the healthy healthy haddock plate. (Tomatoes and bread crumbs on top were black, fish was very rubbery) The staff were very nice but when the manager came to our table to address the issue she asked my friend if he had ever had fish before and if so what was he expecting. Don’t go here if you are looking for broiled fish but if you want some decent fried seafood it’s a worth it for a place that isn’t close to the ocean. I’d like to give more stars because my meal was good but my friends plate was just not even edible. (Thrown away after two bites)

Fantastic fried clam strips and fried shrimp! The young hostess was very pleasant and attentive. The older hostess /​cook is best left alone. I’m sure she’s very nice in her own way, but boy was she prickly! The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but it’s clean, pleasant and kind of quaint. I would definitely eat here again.

I’ve lived in England and have had tradition Fish & Chips, so I wasn’t expecting much from this place, but boy did they deliver!!! The fish was excellent and so were the fries. I haven’t had fish like this in quite a long time and was very happy with the flavor and the amount that came in the basket (four of them) and all were quite big.
I went with a group and alll of got something a bit different, one person even got a burger. No one had any complaints and everyone enjoyed their food quite a bit. If I go back to this area, it’s a great place for lunch or dinner.
I would definitely suggest this to anyone heading to Brockton, near the VA Hospital.

I went yesterday for a quick bite to eat on my way home. I used to work around here some years back and remembered them for being fresh and tasty.
4 stars for the young guys that work there in this informal setting. They still come to your table and serve you and provide better service then some 4 star restaurants I have been to.
Seafood is fresh, but I have tasted better. I tried to pinpoint the problem and couldn’t say. It’s not greasy but its not Belle Isle or the Clam Box quality good. But its fresh. …anyway kudos to the young guys behind the counter. The «birthday» girl thanks you and hopes you don’t ever change your work ethic!

Seafood was delicious! They tailored my meal so that I had broiled haddock, shrimp, and scallops with fried clam strips, instead of having the entire plate fried. The stuffed quahog was great and the clam chowder was to die for. The drawbacks? Fried ice cream was not freshly fried, but instead frozen with a tough coat of cornflakes, and they forgot my cole slaw. The bathroom my husband used was filthy and the entryway seemed like it was under construction. But the seafood (not dessert) still trumps!

Traveling on business. I had a perfectly cooked burger. I eat my meat rare and have sent meals back at some high end restaurants. I had a stuffed burger with bacon even that was great. Additionally Kim behind the bar was great.

Nice family place. Chowder was excellent. Got a side to steamers and the lobster platter. The menu is extensive. You order at the counter when you come in. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Note that they are open on Sunday.

I say «Brockton!» you say «Seafood!», «Brockton!»…
The two don’t always go together, but should. I have only been to Shoe City twice in the last 5+ years, to shop for a car stereo (the tech at Best Buy sent me to «Bumper to Bumper» on Warren Ave saying they’re the best in the state, which I believe true) and the other was to check out McMenamy’s. Why drive from the coast in Cohasset to Brockton for seafood? In a word, McMenamy’s.
Was it worth it? Generally yes. It is a class clam shack is in the classic New England tradition. If you’re anywhere near Brockton, it is certainly worth it. If you’re near IKEA, Jordon’s or anywhere else of RTE 24, then you’re minutes away.
If you like clam shack style food that is prepared the way it should be, then you owe it to yourself to go to McMenamy’s.

I’m a local and I’ve pasted by this place plenty of times but Tuesday was actually my first time stepping foot in this restaurant. The restaurant’s appearance seemed okay. But the one thing I must point out is that there are A LOT of flies flying into and out of the restaurant. I understand that they sell seafood and the tanks are at the front of the store but the amount of flies in that restaurant were unbelievable (even into the bathroom). If you want fancy, high class dinning experience, this is not the place,
Any who, I went with my family because we had a groupon deal. The food was very mediocore. We ordered the captain’s platter, fried calamari, clams and clam chowder. First off, the onion rings and fries that came with the captain’s platter tasted a bit soggy. The fried calamari looked overly fried to the point where it was almost black (but the waitress said it’s the way it’s cooked). The clam chowder was a bit too salty for my liking. Overall, the staff were friendly but the food is definitely average at pricey cost.

Seafood well prepared and flavorful. This spot has it all to include fresh lobster. They also have a full bar.
