Gold’s Gym

Unless you plan on being a member for life I wouldn’t join this gym. It is extremely difficult to cancel your membership. Both my husband and I joined last year. The guy signing us up told us that my husband was not in a contract but I was based on the plan that we chose. I then wanted to cancel and looked back at the paperwork and saw we were both in contract so I waited patiently for the year to be up. Our year was up in December so I inquired in person on how to cancel my contract. They said the only way is to go to a website they gave me. So I did. I was able to cancel my contract however will be billed for an additional 30 plus days according to the message I received on this website. Even though my husband and I signed up the exact same day his contract was not up until a month later according to this website. So again I waited patiently after someone obviously fat fingered his contract date. The time came, I went to the website and now the website suddenly doesn’t work.
Their sales practices are very shady and you are just told what you want to hear so that you sign up. If the time comes that you need to cancel be prepared for a huge hassle and it not being done right away even after you are no longer in a contract.

I have to say I’ve been going to this gym for over a year now, and I have always enjoyed going. Everyone is friendly both the members and staff. With one exception… The new front desk person Laura is so rude and unfriendly that it’s almost making me want to join a different gym. I usually enjoy ordering a protein shake right after my workout and unwind, but Laura is so unpleasant in comparison to all the other staff members that I’d rather go elsewhere when Laura is the one on the desk. So I have to say on the days that Laura is not the person that meets me when I walk in this gym is a four or even 5 star gym. As in the military the people in the front lines are what can win the war. And before I wrote this review I actually talked to a few members that all feel the same way about Laura and her abrasive demeanor to the members, so I know it’s not just me. One of them even made a comment to me about her rude behavior when we got to the locker room. Which is actually why I decided to write this review. Laura is no longer at the front desk so the place immediately deserves a higher rating.

Great gym equipment, amazing staff, members are nice, and overall a great place to call home if you’re a gym rat. It’s not huge or tiny, but it’s the perfect size to feel comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommend to check it out if you’re looking for a gym.
