I’ve been coming here for over 8 years as I work in the neighborhood. The one star reviews I just do not understand, but when you see who posts than you know that they do not probably understand Italian cooking as well. It is not rice and beans and fried chicken to mind you! Their cooking is impeccable and service on the spot, you just will not find that in the neighborhood. And to top it all super cheep! These guys are Sicilian Italians and they know their stuff believe me, so for the immature few with the one star reviews that dont know wright from left, never the less how to rate Italian cooking just skip reading it. As I myself have Italian roots so I know what I am writing on this one.

Second time here and don’t think I’ll be back a third. Placed my order at the counter, and the hostess wasn’t very pleasant. Informed her that I would sit down at a table. 30 mins later I’m still waiting on my omelet. Went to the counter to inquire about my order only to find out the order was never placed. Terrible service… will spend my money elsewhere

I’ve only been here once, so don’t give my review too much weight. That being said, they served me the poorest excuse for a Sicilian that I’ve ever had. Looked and tasted like someone took Italian bread, sprinkled some cheese and tomato sauce and then toasted it.

Was in the South Bronx and have been told about this place, it was only 10:30AM and to my surprise they were open. I didn’t realize that it was also a deli and they made breakfast. I had a regular slice and shrimp Parmesan hero. Both we’re very good especially considering what time of the morning it was. The upstairs seating was nice, the service was friendly and helpful and I will be going back there

Best pizza in the area! Their sauce is amazing, owners are very friendly and welcoming. Great quality for the price.

Hands down the best pizza in the South Bronx. Stands up to all the other boroughs as well. This is what New York pizza should be.

I ordered a medium pizza from Angie. The pizza was not good. Normally, Angie’s pizza is ok, but today the pizza had an oregano peppery after taste. It was not good.

This small family run restaurant is one of the culinary jewels of the South Bronx. You don’t come to Angie’s for the décor.(Sparse cafeteria style seating is available upstairs). You come to Angie’s for the food. The pizza is very good. What really makes this place special are the hot dishes. The fish or chicken dishes are outstanding. I have eaten here a dozen times. I can honestly say each time I have tried something different, it has been a pleasure. Top quality ingredients are used, and you can taste the difference. If you need a good lunch, this is one of your better choices in the South Bronx.

Good neighborhood pizza, service is fast, staff is friendly, even when the place is busy at lunch. Prices are reasonable. The pizza and other dishes are quite good. Know that the delivery is painfully slow and the opening hours are quite tight by NYC standards. Overall, thumbs up

The food is delicious! My favorite is the veggie wrap and eggplant parm. The only down side is the delivery time. I’m better off calling in the order and walking a few blocks to pick it up than having it delivered because it can take over an hour.

Angies makes great food. It is one of the best places in the area. I love their fish dishes, stuffed chicken, and eggplant parm. They make about 3 different pastas, rice, and vegetables each day. There is only one problem with Angies, they have the WORST delivery service. Apparently they have only one delivery guy. Even when you call ahead, you wait forever. If they would just hire one or two more people, they would be perfect.

The only legitimate establishment near where I work. Everything else is fast food or just straight up terrible. You can get a plate of delicious hot food for $ 5, a great, fresh hero or wrap for $ 5.50. Everything that I’ve had here I have enjoyed thoroughly. All the food is cooked with quality ingredients and packs a serious amount of flavor in an amazingly bland neighborhood. You can take out or sit up stairs and hang. Also, I’ve never had their coffee but everytime I’m in there I smell it and it smells GOOD.

I haven’t been inside the actual place but have ordered from them for lunch. My co-workers have picked up. 1. The grilled chicken with pesto, tomatoes, lettuce and mayo is an experience to have… very unique and good. 2. French Fries. There more like beer battered French fries. A must have, especially when they are nice and still warm. The sandwich is about $ 5-n-change, I think for lunch it comes with a small bag of chips.

5 stars for a pizza/deli??? YEP. This place is fantastic. They pizza is excellent, but what I really like is the hot food section. Every time I am in this part(and most parts) of the Bronx, it’s nearly impossible to find anything to eat that is not fried… Keeping that tradition they do serve excellent fried fish and shrimp… Yes I just complained about not being able to find anything but fried food and they ordering fried food… My consternation aside, the fried fish is excellent. I believe its whiting, as is usually used for this type dish. Crispy, tasty, fresh, excellent. Same for the shrimp, which are large and always served in an equally large portion. I have not have the sandwiches nor the salads which all look good, but I do often order from the hot foods section. As someone else mentioned they have an excellent variety of food, from Fish(I’ve seen Salmon, Tilapia, and Flounder), to Meat(Roast beef, meatloaf), poultry(chicken, both fried cutlets and baked on the bone) and a good selection of pasta and side dished including mashed potatoes, rice, broccoli and others. You can order whatever you want on the plate, any combination which is nice. It usually comes with complementary garlic knots on the side. The portion again, is HUGE and CHEAP! I had a heaping plateful of fried shrimp and pasta parmigiana, for $ 7.88 total. A real steal. The staff is very nice and clearly takes pride in the food they serve, they are polite and helpful. They have seating up stairs which is nice and quite. I highly recommend this place.

Eat the Grandma Pizza. I came for a burger since the guys at a mechanic’s nearby said it was the best in the neighborhood. They were out of hamburgers but I had a slice of the Grandma Pizza. Now, I’m not a native and this isn’t a typical New York slice but it is, in recent memory at least, the best pizza experience I’ve had. It boasts a thick crust with an oily, crispy bottom(usually not my favorite), very fresh and tangy tomato sauce, basil and fresh mozzarella. That’s all. And, man, is it good. It’s kind of «bright» with its dominant, sprightly tomato taste — but it’s still salty and the cheese is creamy. If you like this kind of thing then you’ll love this slice. The atmosphere isn’t anything special and a lot of the food ranges from run of the mill to bad(vegetable soup, bagels…) Even so, now that I live outside of SoBro I often consider a trek to Angie’s, getting a slice of Grandma Pizza and getting back on the train.

Love this place. Great pizza slices. The jamaican patties are good too. They have a pretty big, and surprising, selection of food. Definitely a spot where locals go. The staff is very friendly. They have an upstairs dining area that provides a convenience for people watching while chowing down. I will definitely be back.

At first glance, Angie’s Café is just another pizza dive in the Bronx. Really, it’s not. It has a very down home where-everybody-known-your-name vibe that I like. The same people are always working there, and if you come in more than twice, they make sure to say hello to you and ask how you are doing. That’s not required of a good restaurant, but honestly… it doesn’t hurt. They make me feel appreciated and I really like spending money here. A lot of Angie’s is just convenience; they are pretty close to my work. It’s probably a 2 – 3 minute walk. It’s also very cold in there; I don’t think they heat the place. I think the just leave the pizza oven on the whole time and that’s the heat through the winter. It kind of makes the upstairs seating area somewhat undesirable, but for me it feels like a great place that a scene from a Tim Burton movie would take place. It’s cold and it’s dark. I actually generally like that type of enviornment when I’m eating. The food isn’t the best Italian you’ll ever have; but it is the best I’ve had out of East Harlem(excluding Patsy’s) and definitely out of the southern Bronx. I was ordering a chicken parm sandwich that kept disappointing me, but now I stick with sausage slices on a hero… and it truly saved the day. If you are in Mott Haven, this is a place to check out. Especially if you work in the area and you run out of eating out options. Worth a trip.
