I used my insurance network website to find an ND to work with my normal MD. I visited Dr Lewis’ office this week, and it was not a pleasurable experience for me. The doctor’s office was initially closed when I arrived in the afternoon. The doctor called me to come back when she arrived an hour later. Highly unprofessional, but her demeanor was warm and relaxed. The waiting area of the office looked pleasant and neat enough. She brought me into a dimly lit, not well ventilated office and I was given intake forms available online. After the doctor asked a few brief questions, she began running off the cost of care. No pamphlet detailing what sessions are like? The first session costs $ 450 payable immediately, and each session after that varied. Apparently the secretary was supposed to have told me this when I called to make the appointment. I wasn’t really given any information about my health issues or what I should expect, which was disappointing bc it appeared she was knowledgeable, but not really willing to clarify any specifics other than me needing tests, the costs, and that their supplements are tailored to each client (several of the brands prominently were displayed are available from whole foods or your local health store).
I was not willing to pay $ 450 with such a poor first impression. She asked for my copayment in cash (apparently it’s always given in cash she said??), and when I replied I only had a card, she said she’d be doing me a courtesy to use her Square reader from her phone and not charge me the fee this time. The receipt that was emailed did NOT say the practice’s name but her first and last name, no ND, or inclination she was affiliated with a practice. On the prescription note, she hand wrote the costs for tests instead of any recommendations for what to do in the meantime before I could make another appointment. On my way out I was given a ‘goody bag’ of some kind of supplement with NO instructions about use, and told if I referred 5 friends I get a ‘discount’ on my next visit. The secretary at some point did show up and called to tell me to reschedule the appointment I was sitting in (she left a voicemail), no apology. Just cringeworthy.
Overall I expected a different type of environment and service, but this was just not professional. I contacted the doctor to elaborate a little, and her answers were vague at best. No real information was volunteered and most of it I can find online.
I really wanted to like this place, and their website and presentation of the practice looked great, but I did not have a good experience to say the least.
