The food is delicious and the portions are great! The BEST Eggplant Parm! I will not eat it anywhere else.

Not sure how good their pizza is because the only item I got from this place was the eggplant parm with baked ziti. OMG– the portion was huge! The entrée also came with side order of bread and salad. I guess for $ 9, it’s a pretty good deal considering it covered me for 3 days worth of lunch =)

OMG, what a terrible disappointment I got last night when our delivery order arrived late and cold. I simply wanted a Lasagna and a chef salad. Instead I received a plate of lettuce with a couple of slices of tomato(that’s it, nothing else) and a badly made«lasagna»; the sauce was watered down, it lacked meat and mozzarella but they made it up with a watery mix of ricotta. I couldn’t eat it with a fork; it all slid right off. I needed a spoon to collect the mush that they put together. Eventually I put it all in a blender and fed it to the dogs. Guess what, they didn’t want it either. Oh I almost forgot, the bread they sent with the mush, it was terribly hard and for what I paid, they should have sent an entire baguette, instead they ripped a piece about 4″ in size. Having recently moved to the area, I expected better that what I received. If you can’t cook Italian, don’t do business in a predominant Italian /Irish neighborhood. Loyalty comes from not only good friends; it must have good service and an excellent product. Those who give this«establishment» their loyalty and continued business, lack a sense of taste, expectations and self respect…

This is a pizzeria that has been in the Throggs Neck area for a very long time. We have lived in the area most of my life and for no negative reason, never tried Emilio’s Pizza. Last month, tried to find a place that was open late for dinner. Everyone was closed or closing. Emilio’s lights were on, my son and I went in to ask if he was still opened(clearly looked like everything was cleaned up for closing) but the gentleman asked me what I was looking to order. I asked for a small eggplant pie and he proceeded to make a fresh pie. He impressed me so much that I have make Emilio’s the only place I will order from. I have ordered for delivery(which came quickly) when family was visiting and they asked which pizzeria were the eating from because it was delicious. Their food is excellent, delivery fast, prices reasonable and owner very friendly and personable.

For a place that has great food, Emilio’s is terribly inconsistent in terms of service and management. Not too long ago, I would order take out from them every once and a while with no problems whatsoever. However, in recent months, it’s clear that something is wrong. Four times I’ve called for delivery and each time there’s a huge misunderstanding that shouldn’t be. If it’s not horrendously long waiting times(we’re talking over an hour for simple orders), it’s finding out that they don’t have a delivery guy available. Which is something that should be told to the customer prior to ordering food for delivery, not an hour later after already paying. Again, though this doesn’t totally affect their quality of food, it does certainly affect how they go about making business. However, though I don’t like singling out employees and blaming them for my bad experiences, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that every bad experience I have with this place follows after being taken care of by the older Spanish guy who works there. Not only does he tend to have a bad attitude and tries to brush you off the phone, but every time I make a transaction with him he frequently makes mistakes. What really gets to me is the fact that the times I’ve payed with my card, he takes the money right away and hangs up before even telling me a price or saying sorry, we can’t make that order unless you pick it up. I have to constantly call back just to ask simple questions that should’ve been addressed during the first phone call. Just a little communication is all I ask. And he speaks perfect English, so I don’t wanna hear any of that. However, these are just my experiences with delivery orders and that one employee. Other than that, the food is great, which is of course the only reason I keep doing business with them. As far as recommendations go, I highly suggest anyone try their Penne Alla Vodka or their calzones. Their pizza is great too on it’s own which is something Throgs Neck is lacking in. They’re also reasonably priced, which is of course another reason to keep coming back. Overall, go there if you’re able to pass by and dine in, or order to go. But please, don’t order over the phone or for delivery and save yourself the frustration. They just desperately need better management, or a reliable delivery guy perhaps.

Since elementary school i’ve gone to Emilo’s(about 20 years) and the food is always consistently good. I’ve heard they’ve changed owners who knows but the dinner plates have remain absolutely delicious. Bravo to emilio’s

Until last night this was probably the only pizza place in the area that I hadn’t tried yet. So, I decided to stop in and grab a pepperoni pizza for dinner. Glad I did, this is now one of my favorites in the area. Great crust, super cheesy and just greasy enough to be delicious but not gross. Location is great too, even if there isn’t much parking near by(unless you are a cheater like me and combine it with a trip to CVS). On a nice day like yesterday they open up the whole front of the restaurant so it’s kind of like outdoor seating. Will definitely be a return customer **April Underdog Challenge Day 16**
