I saw Dr. Barry Kramer years ago in his Bronx office, when I was in my early 20’s. I’m not generally the type of person to be scared of things. I was so traumatized by my experience with Dr. Kramer, that I still got nervous going to the dentist for many years afterwards. I went to get a cavity filled, and was naïve not to ask more questions about what he was doing, how they were going to do it, etc. He ended up drilling with no Novocain or anesthesia of any kind. I recall that he handed me a Stress Ball to hold on to instead. I was shaking and sobbing through the whole procedure in pain and shock. He drilled more teeth than we had discussed. I left there confused, shaking and crying. It still bothers me that I let him do that to me. He is a sadist and I can’t believe he’s still practicing.

Went to this dentist a few times and got used to being shamed each time for not flossing enough, or whatever. In fact, my genetics just predispose me to build up plaque much faster than other people. After a particular difficult session I got a reaming from the dentist/hygienist/whomever about how I don’t floss enough and how horrible I am, and she just went on and on and on about it. Oh, I’m sorry you had to do your job and that it was more difficult than you’re accustomed to. I don’t enjoy it either, but I assure you I floss plenty. Got fed up with the shaming and went somewhere else. My new provider«Exchange Dental Group» is SOOO awesome, they don’t shame me at all and actually listen to me and encourage me and are nice and are willing to explore other solutions with me besides harping on the flossing thing. I’m happy to pay ~$ 40 in copay just so I don’t have to put up with anymore shaming bullshit. Freedom!

Dishonest. Dismissive. And possibly, homophobic. Also, based on how rude and afraid to disagree with him the staff is, I can’t imagine he is even a decent boss. Avoid him. Avoid him. Avoid him. It’s NYC… there are 1000’s of dentists. Don’t settle for being treated like you aren’t even a human being. We deserve better!(To be accurate, I have never seen Dr. Annie Kramer. Perhaps she’s better… but why she would allow her husband to practice in such a fashion would make me question her judgement).

In the past I have had terrible experiences with dentists hence why I am extremely afraid to go to the dentist. However Dr. Barry Kramer is a very good dentist. Dr. Kramer made me feel comfortable. I left my first appointment knowing I would be returning and I even recommended my best friend.

Forget his administrative personnel and their shortcomings, the bottom line is Dr. Kramer is a good dentist, professional, and compassionate. I highly recommend Dr. Kramer.
