I dealt with Zvi in his related company, Better Move. Zvi was rude, condescending and self-​important. DO NOT USE unless you like being insulted and conned.

Hired Manor because I was moving into a sublet before I moved into my new place. Their storage price was really low so it seemed like a great deal. The movers were great getting my stuff from my old apartment. When they delivered my things to the new apartment, they were hours late and didn’t even contact me to say they’d be late. The table was scuffed and the shelf had been broken off. I’m still waiting for my deposit and additional charge from the storage to be returned. I’ve been emailing Jennifer who responds calling me the wrong name all the time and said 4 days ago that she would issue the return (it’s been 23 days since my belongings have been removed from storage). The movers are good. The storage, not as much.

We just used Manor Moving for the 3^rd move. Our last 2 moves were 3 years ago, and 1 year before that. The move 3 years ago was a 2 part move — into storage, then out of storage into new apt. Today we moved within our building, so it was an ‘easy’ move (note: there is no such thing.) We got one of the same guys we had 3 years ago. The people who work here are so nice, it’s actually a pleasure to have them around. Perfect gentlemen as well — we have a newborn (4 weeks old) and they were amazing around her, even tried to be quiet. They did a great job moving things quickly, packing us and unpacking to the extent possible. While our quote was way off (I think they anticipated about 6 hours, it took much longer than that, however I knew that would be the case based on prior moves and I understood it was a T&M job, not a flat rate.) They did everything they could to keep our cost down. Nothing that I know of was damaged, they were super friendly and efficient. They asked for a lunch break rather than just disappearing, which I appreciated. Anyway, great experience all around. If you want a very detailed quote however, make sure they come to do an inventory. Our quote was based on our last move (which was way off back then), so I knew it would be way under what’s expected. However, it was still less than Flatrate’s quote! (staff included the manager Al, a guy named Rafael, a guy named Eric. I had done previous moves with Oz, Arthur Werner, Flatrate, Moishe’s, none of whom I’d use again).

I used Manor from a move from the FiDi area to Mid-​town. My wife and I got quotes from 4 moving companies (all large moving companies in the NYC area) and selected Manor based on their competitive pricing and professional manner.
The day of the move Manor sent 4 movers and these guys were fantastic! They were friendly and really hard workers. I would highly recommend Manor.

we had a bad experience with this company handling our move. they intentionally use excessive material in order to squeeze more money out of you in supply costs — unless you are micro managing them. we opened up a full size box to find loads of paper protecting a hat and 2 tiny plastic toy cars (nothing else in the box). it didn’t get any better as our unpacking continued. they managed to individually wrap every single piece of plastic tupperware we had. i guess it should not have come as any surprise that we needed an extra 20 boxes, 2 extra rolls of shrink wrap (@ $ 100 each) and a few other materials not included in the quote. the price increased by $ 1k above the original quote. with every box we unpacked, we became more furious with having picked this company. total ripoff! would never use them or recommend them again.

I was recommended by the concierge at the building I’m moving into, which I thought would be a good sign.
Here’s what they did fine: they came 2 hours ahead of their scheduled time, and they were good at wrapping everything and packing everything nicely. They seemed to take care of my stuff.
Here’s what wasn’t great about them: I ended up paying very much above the price that I was quoted, and spent a good 30 minutes arguing with the guy who arrived about the price. I was disappointed that this ended up being one of those NYC movers who increase the price upon arrival, and you don’t really have much of a choice because it’s already been arranged, and you’re under time constraints. I would highly highly recommend that you get someone from the company to come beforehand and eyeball your belongings so as to give you an accurate time and quote, and really lock the price down, compare with other companies, or go with a flat-​rate company. And please get them to bring the complimentary boxes with them when they first eyeball your stuff so that you save on labor costs. This company started adding hours for travel etc. They took 2.5 hours to pack up the wrap the stuff, but I ended up getting charged 4 – 4.5 hours in total, though the CEO could sense my frustration and took 30 minutes off the charge (which was nice of him… I guess). It ended up being more expensive than I expected after I threw in a 15% tip (which they remind you to do with this ridiculous piece of paper).
The whole business was just stressful and frustrating. And now I’m sort of stuck with using them, since they’re keeping my stuff in storage and moving it into the new place in a few weeks. I’ll give another update then on how they do with that and change the rating accordingly.
They’re not a bad company. They’re fine and probably better than a few other moving companies, but they’re not fantastic or the most value for money.

DO NOT USE MANOR MOVING. My husband and I suffered an apartment fire as a result of a gas leak in our apartment in Astoria and were forced to move. Manor Moving moved our remaining possessions from Astoria to our new apartment in Long Island City. Already feeling upset and stressed after losing so much to the fire, our remaining possessions were important to us and our new apartment precious. Manor Moving proceeded to chip the hall wall, severely scratch the brand new hardwood floor in multiple areas of the living area and chip our one year old dining table. We immediately notified management of the damage and were engaged in very long telephone conversations that got nowhere. When we got the opportunity to fully unpack we realized Manor Moving had not delivered a very large and expensive mirror as well as several recently professionally framed prints. When we contacted them again were told we were only eligible for .30 cents on the pound.
After repeated discussions, we asked Manor Moving to replace the cost of our move (over $ 1K) for compensation of all that they damaged and lost. They countered with an offer of $ 400 which would barely cover the floor damage which has been estimated by our new landlord to be at least $ 350. They then ceased negotiations.
I am saddened by the damage to our apartment and the possessions lost but trying to move forward. However, I think it of utmost importance for others to be forewarned and avoid using Manor Moving at all costs.
UPDATE: To respond to the owner’s comment below, I’d be happy to update my review above if they, as the owner indicates in his comment they are willing to, provide us with sufficient compensation for the damage and loss.

Just finished using Manor Moving and storage for the second time. First time was easy, and a smaller move, and Zivi was great. They have very hard workers and they get the job done… but — the second time will be the last and when I move in the future I will use someone else.
Again, there guys were terrific, and got the job done in no time flat. Efficient and quick. My beef this time is with management, Zivi and Omer specifically. I was qouted a binding price of 850, and Omer swore I his guys would take everything, flat price, no problem, nothing extra. hell I have the emails to prove it, and that I was upfront and even updated my inventory list to reflect changes, as you should so there are no suprises. He told me not to worry, his guys will take everything.
Come moving day, his guys have a different story, that they are told only to move what is boxed and that is it and no credit cards. Just cash or money order. Uh, ok, so why does Manor give you the option of credit card, only to reject it in favor of up front payment. Hmm. Is it those pesky legal protections credit cards come with?
But I digress. My iron décor was all wrapped and everything, but hard to box, and they almost did not take it. They even seemed reluctant to take my microwave and air conditioners. Seriously. This stuff is pretty standard when moving. Anything not boxed other then furntiure stays. That can add to a lot of extra fees tacked on. The only reason they took items that were not boxed and made sure I kept my flat fee was because I tip well and they know it. Ultimatley, they were my only line of defensive to keep management out of digging further into my wallet. I rather give a good tip to movers who do the labor then management any day
Oh, and the workers are also expressly told to remind you, not once, not twice, that if we get a parking ticket, you pay! How sweet to be reminded of that when you are a nervous wreck on moving day.
I understand the workers doing what they are told on moving day, I have no beef with them, my beef is with executives who on moving day are really telling their moving guys to be ruthless or you will be hauling half of your own **** over there. Not cool.
In the future I will give other moving companies an opportunity and not think twice about Manor Moving.

STAY AWAY FROM ZVI — after he pressured me with his sales tactics (we have only 1 spot left etc.) and told me how much better they were than flat-​rate and other moving companies he canceled my move 24 hrs prior to the scheduled move date. he told me its better than telling me the day of!!! while that is true, i would stay far far away from Zvi and Manor Moving. in addition, they are cash only — what professional moving company requires cash only?
BOTTOM LINE: MANOR MOVING IS NOT RELIABLE

Hired Manor Moving off the recommendation of a friend who used them for a similar move. We drove 3000 miles from Oregon to NYC, and the last thing I wanted to do was haul furniture, dressers, and boxes up four flights of stairs. No elevator in our building meant that we needed some help, and these guys came highly recommended.
They did not disappoint! Michael and his crew were courteous, professional, and most importantly — worked their butts off! Finished everything on time, and were extremely careful with our items. Nothing broken, damaged or misplaced.
I really can’t say enough about the crew. Worth every penny we paid.

This is an update. I’ll give them 3 stars for effort and customer service… But only because Zvi (the owner/​manager) called personally to ask me about my negative review and he made a genuine effort to explain the company policy.
My advice: flat rate quote is the way to go AND be very clear about their hours of operation and other associated charges for actually RETRIEVING your stuff from storage.

I had a terrible experience with Manor. I know moving is rough in general, but I found this company to use some pretty egregious practices.
Pretty much they blackmailed me. They insisted on me signing off on a final bill before they moved my stuff into my new apartment. I was told that if I did not agree to their price, they would not move my stuff into the apartment, holding all my stuff hostage effectively.

I was really skeptical about movers given all the bad stories you hear baout, but had to use them and did a lot of research. In the end, I went with Manor because:
– they weren’t the cheapest, but they weren’t the most expensive either
– they had great reviews on citysearch
– someone I knew had a great experience
What I found:
– Talked to Zvi, the owner, and he was very helpful
– They gave advice about how to cut down costs (buy your own boxes! theirs are sturdier but more expensive, pack your personal things and kitchen ahead, since the longer it takes them to do, the more you pay)
– The guys moving were AMAZING (I wish I could remember the team leaders’ name, maybe Mario? Or Michael?) They did everything quickly and packed it all very well, nothing broke.
Most importantly, I was moving into a walk-​up and THEY RAN ALL THE HEAVY BOXES of books UP THE STAIRS. They were like machines, never wanted to stop for water, just kept going, I seriously thought they were going to break their backs.
I would never write such a raving review, but I honestly felt terrible for these guys because they were working SO HARD, but they were totally fine with it and seemed to even be having fun.
Bottomline: they did such a great job, very professional, I felt happy to tip them at the end of the day.
Only con: cost of buying their boxes really racks up and is a lot more than you think. you need LOTS of boxes.

I have used movers in NYC for awhile now and by far this was my best experience. The owner Zvi was professional and attentive to my moving needs (and constant need to confirm/​re-​confirm every last detail). The move was painless and nothing was damaged. I will definitely use them again.

Despite the fact that our move took 8 hours (when we were quoted at 6 – 7 hours), and the fact that we got 2 parking tickets, I still liked Manor Moving, which is a testament to the quality of their service and professionalism.
Our 3 movers were very fast and efficient with their packing (I was particularly impressed with their rapid taping skills wow! haha) and very friendly to work with. They took good care of our boxes and wrapped every piece of furniture carefully in blankets. Moving is such a headache and I was glad we had such skilled workers helping us out. They clearly had the process down and were great at disassembling/​assembling our Ikea furniture =). We were notified about all the fees and everything upfront and so weren’t surprised by an excess of fees on moving day. They genuinely seemed to care about doing a good job and even refused our offers to buy them lunch, and insisted on continuing to work through lunchtime, such dedication!
I would recommend them for sure =).

Moving is terrible, moving in New York is a nightmare. Manor Moving made the whole process virtually flawless. I called multiple moving companies before I called Manor, some took all day to get back to me with quotes, others would quote astronomical prices and others gave me «approximate quotes».
Manor was great, I spoke to Eugene, who gave me the lowest price I’ve been quoted all week. He promised me a flat rate with no hidden charges and professional service and he delivered! The movers were pleasant and polite, they moved everything with great care and expertise. I would recommend Manor to anyone who is moving and wants to keep their sanity in the process.

Tis ok, a typical storage moving company, which are kinda like used cars salesman.
So here’s the deal, they have a huge warehouse where they shrink-​wrap (at least that’s what it looks like) all your most prized possessions. After the monthly rate, taxes, security deposit you also have a moving fee to cover the cost of either 1 or 2 of their staff to help ‘wrap’ your stuff. You need to make the trek up to their office twice, once to sign the initial documents and then to release your precious items. But at E 136 it’s no easy trip from the W-​side.
They did get extra brownie points for decent customer service, giving me my security deposit back, and giving me back everything I gave them.
Lessons learned:
1. Not all surprise end with eating yummy cake. Even when they say ‘final price’ you know there are still more charges looming for you later so ask for that discounted price, negotiate as much as possible to lower that surprise bill in the end.
2. Size matters. They give you your monthly price based per box. I made the mistake of having some ittsy bittsy boxes and those are the same price as ginormous boxes… so make it count.

We did a flat rate move from one location within Manhattan to another. The 3 guys Manor sent came over ontime, didn’t bean count our boxes, and unloaded everything to the destination rooms. All three movers were really nice and cheerful the entire time.
Our doorman said he’d never seen any team be so careful with boxes in the elevators. That’s a testament to the quality of service we got!
I will definitely use Manor again!

Our move with Manor moving and Storage has to be in the running for the worst move ever. They did a GREAT job two years ago when I moved from one apartment in the West Village to another. I was happy to use them again, but my experience this time was terrible.
1.) I was quoted a price that was over $ 500 less than what they wanted to charge me. This started everything off on a bad note. Since we used Manor in the past, they knew EXACTLY what furniture we had, and I thought the quote would be fairly accurate. I told the guy that we added a few more pieces of furniture, and he added that into the estimation. The office guy gave me a quote of about 500 – 600 bucks. Bear in mind it’s a ONE bedroom, and we were moving a very short distance. (West Village to Tribeca)
When the movers arrived, the head mover informed me that he thought the quote was low, and that it would be more of a $ 700 job. I was annoyed, but what could I do? I assumed that he was right, and I wanted to be fair. So I said OK, and they started moving. They were moving everything very quickly at first, but then they took a break, and came back much slower. They had a hard time figuring out something with the way things were positioned in the truck, and time was ticking away At no point was I informed that the price was exceeding $ 700, until the head guy let me know that he thought it was going to be a $ 1000 job. This was after all of our belongings were on the truck, the day was killed, and I was sort of at their mercy. I was furious. It might not have seemed so bad if he hadn’t told me the price of the move had almost doubled — WHILE THE TRUCK WAS BROKEN DOWN AND IMMOBILE IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT.
2.) The truck was broken down for around 2 hours. So imagine this. They finally get everything into the truck, and I was cleaning up the empty apartment. My friends and family were all downtown at the new apartment waiting for the truck. I check outside to see the movers all standing in front of the truck, which has it’s hood opened, and looked on in horror as they prodded the wires in the engine, confused. I walked over to the head mover and asked him what was up, and he told me that the move is going to be much more expensive, like $ 1000, but not to worry, they won’t charge me for the time they are spending getting the truck moving. Like this is some favor they are doing me.
I call Manor’s «emergency» number, and no one answers. The movers call other people from Manor. No one answers. There is no one to take my call or to help the movers get their truck running. I was so angry, but I also felt bad for the three movers. It was MARCH 1ST, A SATURDAY. That’s a big moving day! Someone should have been there to assist them and to talk to me.
The movers tried to get a jump from a cabbie, but no cabbie wanted to deal with that nonsense. Eventually, they pulled over some random dude on a skateboard, and had him PUSH the truck with them down the street. Eventually they pushed the car backwards all the way down Greenwich, but then it was stuck, in the middle of the road. This is Greenwich Avenue! IT’S A BUSY STREET! Cars were honking and everything. Eventually they found a cabbie who let them jump the battery.
3.) I had to argue with the owner over the phone for about 30 minutes. When the move was finally done, it came to be about $ 1183 by the their estimate. I was livid. They were willing to knock it down to $ 1000 by subtracting $ 180 for the two hours we spent waiting for the truck to work, but still, that’s around twice my estimate, and I knew I was getting ripped off. Shouldn’t they be trying to make things up to me after all this? I spent two hours with my moving truck broken down in front of my apartment, and no one to call, and the best they can do is not charge me for the time?
I told the movers that I wasn’t paying it, tipped them, and told them that I wanted to talk to their owner. The owner, who of course wasn’t answering his phone when my truck was in the street and when his workers were flagging down cabs, now answers the phone when he finds out I won’t pay.
I stayed on the phone with the owner and tried to explain as calmly and as carefully as I could, that I wasn’t paying any more than $ 800. It was scary. The owner was angry and raised his voice to me a bit. He wasn’t budging, but neither was I. He claimed that if I gave over the $ 1000, he would call me on Monday (today) and we could talk it over and he could make it less. Since I had to pay in cash, I told him I would feel more comfortable paying $ 800 in cash and have him bill me for more later. After 30 minutes, we agreed on me handing over $ 900, after he threatened t o just take it from my credit card. There was no tone of apology. The owner said he would call me on Monday, two days later, and work something out. I just wanted the day to end.
Do not use Manor Moving and Storage!
